View 6 RepliesI want to bring a base drawing (drawing A) into another drawing (drawing B), but have it screened (say, at 35%) so that the information overlaid onto it in drawing B (unscreened) is brighter, and darker, so that it pops out, and that drawing A appears as just a background. I want the lineweights of drawing A (assigned in the CTB file) to remain thick and thin, but just to plot with a screened value. How can that happen? So far, I have just assigned xrefed-in layers a thin lineweight, which might work, but would prefer that the xrefed-in layers retain their thickness but appear shaded. I feel like I did this years ago, but how to accomplish this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe currenlty have our profile loaded but when I open another drawing it changes the layout of the tools in my profile. I then have to reload the profile and all the tools come back to what we want. Why is this happening everytime I open a new/other drawing ?
my profiles are loaded via options see jpg attachment.
How should I make a form which contains some shapes to be added to my drawing? by user pointing of course.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm referencing an assembly on a drawing. When new parts are added to this assembly, they show up on my drawing, anyway to stop this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I add text and dimensions to my drawing it appears tiny on screen. What is the correct setting for text size for A4 and A3 drawings,And how do I set this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a photo collage by scratch (not using "Collage"). First I create a new blank page for the background and save it. It is shown as "locked" with a padlock. Then I open an image file (.jpg) to add to the background layer, and I get a message that I need to unlock the background layer so I click to unlock it. However the added image locks onto the background layer and doesn't make a new layer. If I open another image file it locks on top of the others.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there any limit to the number of images that can be put into a PSE10 catalog? If so, what is the limit?
View 3 Replies View RelatedImages opening from LR to PS6 are opened as CR2 files (canon) and then saved in PS - the resulting saved images are PSD files. These files are not added to the LR catalog without re-importing them. This behavior is different than it was in CS5 - in CS5 they are opened as PSD and immediately added to the LR catalog. I want the same bahavior in CS6. In LR I have set preferences to open files as PSD but they are not PSD until they are saved in PS.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a series of drawings that I have a group of PDFs xrefed into. I need to print these drawings to PDF also. I'm using the DWG to PDF printer in ACAD. In the final PDF, the PDF that's xrefed in is fuzzy, pixilated. How can I fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a drawing called xsec. I xrefed the corridor drawing into it and data shortcut the alignments in as well. I created sample lines and cut my cross sections in the drawing. Everything at this point looks fine.
The problem happens when I create a new drawing and xref the xsec into it. In this new drawing only the right side of my cross sections is showing up. I want to use this drawing for my sheet set rather than have a bunch of tabs in the xsec drawing.
Architect sent us a floor plan. I turned off layers we don't need, such as dimensions. Print preview doesn't show those layers. When the plan plots, though, the dimensions plot too.
Architect's drawing was originally done in Revit.
I can stumble a bit, and have reasonably competent in the ACAD side of it. but here's my issue: existing grade was created in a separate office (by a non-c3d guru) and the surface drawing was shipped up to the remote office. There's nothing in the drawing except the surface (created from GIS contours) and the contour labels. Layers for major and minor and labels are all on, not frozen, visible, and none are set to non-plot. (C-TOPO-MAJR, C-TOPO-MINR, C-TINN, C-TOPO-TEXT)
This file is XREFed into modelspace in a sheet file that has a half-dozen tabs, two to three vports per tab. In some of the viewports, not all by any means, either none of the contour lines show up, or only some of them do. There are no per-viewport over-rides, and all layers are on, thawed, and plottable. In the area where the contour lines fail to show up, the contour labels do.
The problem:At our office we have created a large amount of custom 3d walls (mainly by modifying existing ones) and in the walls we have overriden the material colour in plan view from the default 11 (peachy/corally colour) to green/red etc. Now when we xref the drawing with the walls in it some drawings retain those colours while others show the walls with the default colour 11. Since it is the exact same drawing on our server being xrefed I assume its an option somewhere that I am missing.
I am running Cad Architecture 2011.
Have tried on several machines with same result.
Have to manually reload xref after opening drawing to get sections to change.
Autodesk, Can I get some confirmation that it is working, or not?

We have survey files that we xref into our design files. In the survey files themselves, the points don't change color. When we xref them in, the point markers (only the circular node on the actual point, not the line coming off of it) take on the color of whatever the current layer is in the drawing, only fixable by changing the current letter and regenerating.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIve made a drawing on autocad and have imported in .png images into my drawing. Though the images show up on my computer once I email it they dont show which obvioulsey means that there not linked to the memory in autocad just from the computer.how to link the images in?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm delighted I can now import .PDF images into a drawing. But why doesn't the IMAGEFRAME command eliminate the border frame of the .PDF like it does on a .TIF or .JPG?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI imported the .dwg file from ArchiCAD 12 to my AutoCAD 2008.
The problem is that, there are some dots (Autocad recognizes it as "raster image") all over the drawing. And I need to delete them manually each one of them.
Is there way I could do this automatically? Is there a way to select all the "raster images" at once, and then delete them?
When I insert and image to my Autocad drawing for some reason I can only see the image from a top view. I change the view from top to left so I can try and rotate the image so I can see it from the front view. I am not sure what to do.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get a list of selected entities and their layers, but I want to capture it from the editor, not a command.
I currently have
Private Sub ed_SelectionAdded(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As Autodesk.AutoCAD.EditorInput.SelectionAddedEventArgs) Handles ed.SelectionAdded Try For Each objid As ObjectId In e.AddedObjects.GetObjectIds Using tr As Transaction = ed.Document.TransactionManager.StartTransaction Dim ent As Entity = tr.GetObject(objid, OpenMode.ForRead) ed.WriteMessage(vbLf & objid.ObjectClass.DxfName & " is on " & ent.Layer) End Using Next Catch ex As Autodesk.AutoCAD.Runtime.Exception End Try End Sub
but when select a circle on Layer 1, I get the result below in the command line
CIRCLE is on Layer1
CIRCLE is on Layer1
CIRCLE is on Layer1
CIRCLE is on Layer1
CIRCLE is on Layer1
CIRCLE is on Layer1
Command:
CIRCLE is on Layer1
If I hover over the circle while it is selected, it also treats it as a selection.
When I a have a drawing with items wich contain hyperlinks. They work perfect in autocad. Also in DWF they work great! But when I plot to PDF. The items are not clickable.
I guess this is a "problem" with the PDF plotter. Which PDF plotter CAN recognize hyperlinks and put's them on the PDF.
PDF Creator plus 5.0?
Every time I open ACAD 2012, a folder named Autodesk is added to my Explore favorites. This happened with other versions as well. Some how, it stopped happening for a long time. Now it is back again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe often design on the fly, creating IAM's and IDW's for the shop to use. I began using the LOD's for memory purposes of these large assemblies. These LOD's are a copy of the View rep. Items suppress and all works well in the assembly. In the IDW's views, I've started specifying the matching LOD. This also works well, until I add a parts to the IAM that happen to be within the view rep in the IDW.
The LOD was created from a LOCKED view rep. The added items are not visible in either the view rep or the LOD of the IAM, and this is the intent of a locked view. However, they are NOT suppressed in the LOD.
Somehow, because they are not suppressed, they are now visible in the IDW view, and in any view that is project from the base view.
I have to go back to the IAM, suppress EACH of the added items in EACH and EVERY LOD in order for the IDW's I have already created remain the same.
I would think that one would also be able to LOCK a LOD and any items added would be suppressed.
Can the Data Extraction Wizard be added to 2013LT?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was under impression that Library (custom) parts should not get checked out.
But in our case they do - It should not be happening since we have multiple users working with the same parts.
I am using a breakline to establish contours around the foundation of a building. I've done this in the past with no problems. Now I'm getting an Event Viewer, Error message saying that the breakline wasn't added to the surface because it crossed a point or crossed another breakline. In one case there wasn't another breakline in the drawing.
I've used 3d polylines & others to establish the breaklines.
My quest: if your in a different layer working on adding walls for eg. You want add a dimension to that wall. When I hit DLI, How do I make sure that the dim i just entered goes directly to the DIM layer instead of the wall layer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded to 2012 and I am having a few issues with the title blocks I am creating. For some reason everytime I add attributes to the block they never come out in order. For example I create the title page, add the attributes using ATTDEF (job name etc) then I create the block and check my attributes using BATTORDER, I can arrange them using the up/down buttons which is fine. But as soon as I try to edit the attributes outside the block editor they are all out of order again! I have tried making the attributes in and outside of the block editor with no avail! And to make matters worse I have a jumpy mouse.
View 9 Replies View RelatedYears ago someone at our firm created his own dimension tick block because he didn't like how thin AutoCAD's built-in tick was. I would agree with him, but I've found using our own tick block creates these really odd additional lines along the dimension line when at smaller dimensions -- I have a feeling the lines are inserted for some reason when the dimension text gets too close to the extension lines. In the following image and in the enclosed DWG, you can see what I mean:
At the bottom left is the tick block on its own. Above that a typical dimension, which looks fine. To the right of that you see the additional length added to the dimension line. And then the next 2 just show some more examples: the lines disappear when I go to 3'-2" but reappear at 2'-11" which is what led me to believe it was due to the proximity of the text to the lines.
Above all that I exploded a dimension and moved the components away from each other: there is a line added to the end of the block and that line does not show up at all in the 3'-3" dimension.
how to suppress these and why they are added in only when the text gets close to the linework?
Edit: the picture I originally attached was missing the exploded block -- replaced with a better image here. db
I looked through the discussion groups and couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. Our office recently upgraded their server. Since this happened, my dual monitor blinks when highlighting objects or zooming in and out. Plus, it adds extra menu bars (gray horizontal bars).
