AutoCad :: How To Use Area Calculation Tool

Apr 29, 2013

I don't use the area calculation tool that much. I was just working out a large area for concrete. I use TOOLS - INQUIRY - AREA. Thats all fine and it gives me the area, for instance, to keep it simple 4900 x 9000 = 44.10m² AutoCad displays it as 44100000. I know it's not a major problem, but is there anyway I can get it to display as 44.10 or at least lose all the zeros.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Calculate Area Using Polyline - Calculation Not In Square Feet?

I was just wondering why when I try and calculate an area using a polyine, I am getting a readout of 1.80401967E+07, when I have it set to give me the calculation in square feet? It is an area of approx. 246 Acres.....is this because the area is so large? I am not sure what the "E" stands for or the "+07" at the end....

AutoCad :: Measure Area Tool Working

Sep 27, 2012

Found that in certain drawings, the measure area tool will just suddenly stop working? It's very odd. It let's me pick points, but won't let me press enter to see the total.

Closing and reopening AutoCAD doesn't work. It seems to be a permanent thing to the affected drawing.

It's happened to me in a few drawings, but only in those specific ones. Other drawings are fine. I'm guessing it's a setting I've changed somehow?

I've been getting round it by creating shapes using the polyline, and then looking at the area in the properties window. It's an ok solution, but not ideal.

I found many references to the boundary tool, but that looks more complicated.

I tried to change the units, but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Photoshop :: Use Brush Tool Twice On Same Area

Mar 16, 2013

Can I use the paint brush twice on the same area without having different scales of the same color? I would like to keep the paint brush smooth but the problem is that when the same area is painted twice, the color in such area darkens.

Is it possible to lock the paint brush to one stroke of paint? If an area is painted, is it possible to automatically skip that area when painting? In other words, is it possible to have the brush effect only once over a given particular area even if it is brushed over twice?

Photoshop :: Tool To Rotate Selected Area Proportionately?

Jun 13, 2008

You know that rectangle selection tool? Cool huh! It lets you select a rectangular area and then move it around the graphic, letting you re-arrange layers or selected areas...

Well, I'm looking for a way to use a similar rectangular select tool and then be able to point at the bottom right corner of the selected area and be able to resize the selected area proportionally. Is there such a tool in photoshop? And if not, is there another graphic program that has this capablity? All I want is this simple capability, I'm willing to use whatever program that has it... its too much trouble creating my own program to do it.

Remember I said resize proportionately, in comparison MS Paint has a similar selection tool and lets you resize what you selected but NOT proportionately. I hope you understand what I mean. Resize but keep same proportionate dimensions...
Thank you.

Lightroom :: Spot Tool Source In Cropped Area?

Jun 15, 2013

I don't remember it being a problem in LR4, but I have just used the spot tool on an image where there was a crop. The program's choice of source for the spot tool seems to me to be more dramatic than ever before, and in this particular image the source selected was in the area which I had cropped out. To move the source point, I had to open the crop tool to adjust one side of the crop, then move the source, then restore the crop to the image, then reselect the spot tool.

It might well be that in some instances the cropped out area is the best source, but whether it is or not, I think we need to be able to access the cropped detail without resetting the crop itself and preferably without having to then reselect the spot tool.

Is there some setting that I am missing or is this something that has disappeared from Acad?

AutoCad :: Block Attribute Calculation

Oct 2, 2013

I have a requirement to create a block with a few attributes, but the attributes require a bit of composition behind the scenes. Here's an abstract example.

I need a block that represents a computer's identity. Each computer has 2 references that need to result in attributes that I can extract. One attribute is a unique reference across the project, and the other attribute is a room reference, and many computers can be in the same room.

Here are some example references.

Computer A
Unique Reference: DF.SALES.01
Room Reference: DG.SALES.07

Computer B
Unique Reference: DF.SALES.02
Room Reference: DG.SALES.07

Computer C
Unique Reference: DF.SALES.03
Room Reference: DG.SALES.07

Computer D
Unique Reference: DF.ADMINISTRATION.01
Room Reference: DG.ADMINISTRATION.02

Computer E
Unique Reference: DF.ADMINISTRATION.02
Room Reference: DG.ADMINISTRATION.02

As you can see from the above, the 'common' part for a computer is the middle 'SALES' or 'ADMINISTRATION' part, which 'technically' only needs to be put in/typed in by the user once for each computer. I need to automate this process to reduce user input error, such that they only enter 'SALES' or 'ADMINISTRATION' once and don't end up creating the below, which would be invalid.

Computer F
Unique Reference: DF.RECEPTION.09
Room Reference: DG.SALES.07

Thus I imagine I need a third property/field/attribute to specify 'room', and then formulate the Unique Reference and Room References, using this 'room' part in the middle.

The end goal here is that I need to be able to extract the above two references for each 'computer/block' and get them into Excel, and I need to be able to modify the 3 properties (room, unique reference and room reference) quickly, ideally using something like EATTEDIT, which is how we have edited attributes in the past.

The use case above is abstracted, it's actually not for computers at all but I figured it would make more sense than complicating it with the actual application!

Photoshop :: Save Selection - Select an Area In Document Using Marquee Tool?

Nov 15, 2012

I use Photoshop to design interfaces and then cut down the graphics, by using the rectangular marquee tool and selecting the area that I want to save, copy-merged and then paste into a new document, of the correct canvas size according to the selection area, and then save for web..I end up with dozens of open windows all "Untitled" something, unsaved.

All I want is being able to select   an area in my document using the marquee tool and then select from File a save function like "Save selection for web and devices...".

Perhapse this option could be in the "Save for web and devices.." dialog, where you could select from a dropdown the following:
"Entire document" (default)
"The entire selected area"
"Trimmed down selected area"
