AutoCAD Inventor :: Export Surface Finish Data
Feb 15, 2013I'm looking for a solution to export surface finishes into Excel. We built an assembly and parts and their faces has different colors. Is that possible to read colored faces, merged them by color, read the total surface area and then export into Excel. That is for estimating purposes. I read the thread "Extracting Surface Finish Data" but I didn't find the piece of code that I need.

Apr 24, 2013How can I create a surface texture symbol (ACM 2011) on a dimension using VBA without interactively selecting the dimension?I have a point on the dimension and the entity name / handle of the dimension which I want to pass to the VBA function.
I am using the code from Introducing the AutoCAD® Mechanical API, Wayne Brill – Autodesk URL....While this code interactively selects the point and the line (dimension in my case), I don't want to use interaction. Instead I have lisp variable.
I have used the vlax.cls to convert the point to a variant and handle to an object. (I could use Users variables instead with more complex code). This works well but the code fails at the line:
oSurfSymbol.AttachGeometry dimHor, pt
This is because the method requires IMcadLine object I have IAcadLine2 object
CorelDRAW X6 :: Why Can't Symbol Manager Find Symbols Library
May 24, 2012Just installed X6. However, even though I installed Symbols and Objects from the content install, symbol manager does not see the symbols library on my hard drive. I guess it expects me to add a library, but where this symbols library is. Am I supposed to install the entire content package (I really don't want to clutter my hard drive with thousands of unwanted images) in order for symbol manager to be able to automatically find where the symbols are?

Feb 9, 2013A label that I've created in Illustrator isn't mapping onto a can in 3D revolve
1. Traced the side of a can using the pen tool, and turned it into a 3D object using revolve (NOTE: I haven't applied any stroke to it, just a white fill - otherwise, Map Art wouldn't even open, it would just say " Artwork produced no surfaces for artwork mapping.")
2. Dragged the label into symbols
3. Clicked on the side of the can, opened 3D revolve, and clicked preview
4. Clicked Map Art, selected the appropriate surface
5. Selected the label from the symbols, scaled it, and clicked preview
When nothing happened, I tried everything: It wouldn't show in Invisible Geometry, so it can't be on the inside of the surface. When I tried Shade Artwork (slower), the whole program just shut down right away...
Interestingly, when I selected a vector symbol, it appeared on the surface perfectly...any thoughts on what that could be?

Also, it would be adventageous to have the line actually follow the grade so I dont have to add curves in etc later...

I am drawing the frames for a wooden surfboard which has curved spars (the surface in question) which need rolling out flat to make a template. The surface is curved in the XY axis only, so in theory it should be developable.

So I created a symbol, the insertion point for the symbol is shown. For some reason I get an extra number and the symbol offcenter. Why is this happening? What I'm really looking for is a balloon that is fully customizable so that I can just add text to the top and bottom and fill out the details.

HP workstation with an intel xeon cpu. 64 bit
12 GB of RAM.
I never had this problem before, but in the past few days this message keeps coming up, and converts the files to outline mode. It's happening to all kinds of illustrator files ranging is size from 2MB to 56MB, from simple drawings with gradient fills, to complex drawings with mesh. In most of the files, I'm working with vector images that I didn't create, but purchased from stock photo sites.
Photoshop :: Photomerge Fails To Finish But Only With 64bit?
Mar 13, 2012Photomerge has been failing on this system. I at first thought it was down to insufficient registration with the images, but I realised it fails every time, so tried with 32bit PS and all worked OK. It loads the RAW files and builds the layer stack, and usually shows the 'Aligning files' message. Then the files disappear from the screen leaving Photoshop still running.
I don't think it has ever worked with this particular installation on this machine.
Win7 64bit Pro
3930K @ an easy 4Ghz
32Mb RAM (70% assigned for PS)
GTX570
To recap, it works OK with PS 32 bit. I have tried starting from Bridge > Tools > Photoshop > Photomerge and directly from Photoshop File > Automate > Photomerge using open files.
Revit :: Modify Tab Missing Finish And Cancel
Feb 10, 2013I just installed the student version of Revit 2013. I opened it and everything seems to be working expect when I draw anything (ie topo surface, wall, etc.), the modify tab is missing all the draw options (line, circle, etc) as well as the Finish and Cancel buttons. This makes it impossible for me to use the software without those. Is there a way they could be hidden or is the software just corrupt?
