AutoCad :: Using ANSI / A Title And Border Page To Create B C D?
Mar 4, 2011
Is there a logical way to use a Title Block and border page that I created for use on an ANSI size A page to create an ANSI B, C, D? Scaling seems to work in one direction (x or y) but not both. Stretching doesn't solve my text in the Title Block from appearing too small when I create a D size.
I am using Autocad 2012. I am battling to find out how to make a border and title block for my machine drawings . Do i do it in paper space or in model space.
I've inherited the AutoCAD management at my office and I'm struggling a bit with my title border. We're in the process of moving from Mechanical 2012 to Mechanical 2014 and while setting up the new template I seem to have caused a problem with our title block - the file name no longer auto updates each time you save, where it did in 2012.
I have set the Options > AM: Preferences > System > Acad/M > Title > TitleUpdate variable to 1, but still no luck.
The file name attribute has the following info:
Tag: GEN-TITLE-DWG Prompt: File Name Default: (blank)
Are there any other options I need to change to get this to work in Mechanical 2014?
Edit: looks like it does update, but only when you open the file. ie. you need to save, close, then re-open the dwg. how to make it update when saving like it did in 2012?
I am very new to Autocad and I'm using LT2011 version. I am creating some basic drawings for small aluminum parts and need a border/title block to use. I assume there are already some saved as templates.
I use two different measuring system IMPERIAL and METRIC.
What I want is to be able tell at a glance, by having different color border and Title-block Text is which one of the system of units I'm using
So what I'm wanting to do is create a Metric Sheet template with on color, Border, Title Block Text and a different color for the Imperial.
I've tried changing the color using the Style Center but that affects both templates, I've tried editing the title-block text saving the template but on opening it has changed back to the defaults set in the style settings and dose not hold those that I set.
What I don't what to be doing is changing them after opening, as at some stage I'll forget.
Is there a way to access any data of any Border in a Drawing files when creating a sketch in the file?
I'm trying to make a Title Block that take up the whole length of the Border bounded page and 10 mm high, anchored on the bottom.
Currently I had the Default Border "changed" by Inserting it and changing the margins to fit to approximately my printer's printable area. It seems at this stage when I created a new title block defn I'm basically given a blank sketch with the origin at the bottom left as my only "snap point".
I found one through subject suggestion about using iLogic to change the size, but that isn't exactly what I'm trying to do as that seems just a switch for different Title Blocks that's been made up.
I thought about just drawing the title block in with the border, but I don't think that's the right way to do it.
Is there any way to draw your Title block in this case beside manually figuring out how big the Border is and dimension with that raw number?
(Just curious as it would be just a simple subtraction, but if I changed the Border margin I would have to repeat the arithmetic...)
If I'm in the layout view, I want to add a Title Border. All of my layout previews are default in Landscape. When I use the Title Border (via the ribbon) and go thru the options, it seems that my only choice is a A4 PORTRAIT border with title block.
Now my preference is to use a landscape orientation, but I can't get it to work yet.
When i create a drafting i use ISO.idw template. I delete the default title block and the default border and then i create my personal title block and border. How to save the new title block and the new border somewhere in "Inventor's memory" and use them in other draftings?
I have 4 layouts all from the same drawing that I need desperately to print now. But for some reason only the border and Title block will print for me. What have I done to cause this? And how can I rectify it? I need to print these tonight
Is there a way to change the default margin offsets (i.e. the distance between the edge of your border or title block to the edge of your paper), without using the "Insert Drawing Border" option?
I would have thought you could do this through the "Edit Sheet" or "Define New Title Block / Border" options. I have multiple customized title blocks, which each require their own margin offsets.
We want to use our AutoCAD company standard templates within Inventor. I’ve followed the procedures to accomplish this under the heading:
Create a .dwg template in Autodesk Inventor from an AutoCAD .dwg template
This works without any problems. Inventor is able to recognize the size of our template border (20.75” x 33”) and correctly selects a sheet format of 24” x 36”. The template border is centered on the 24” x 36” sheet just as we would like it (see attached).
The template is used to create a new Inventor .dwg, and base views are placed and annotated. No problems, everything looks good. The new drawing is saved and Vaulted. However, at some point Inventor "shifts" the location of the template on the 24” x 36” sheet format (see attached). This action is unpredictable. The drawing might be checked-out and checked-in several times before the “shift” happens. When it does we have to re-locate the views and other text annotation to suit the new title block & border location.
How can we lock the position of the template border & title block? (Should be noted that we need to keep our template positioned such that the bottom left corner is at 0,0,0 when it is opened in AutoCAD.)

I am trying to create a border around my drawings but I'm not sure how to start. I create A3 progress drawings on a muck shift site, they are very basic but serve the purpose they have to. I would like to insert a page border to appear 10mm inside the perimeter of the page to improve the appearance.
I would like to know how I can edit my Title Block at the bottom of my page. I used to be able to select it in the past when opening the new template file. However after I performed drawings in the model window and back to the layout, I cannot click or edit the field anymore. I tried highlighting using my mouse, shifting layers and exploring right click commands but nothing good came up.
Refer to the attachment what I mean. I am running AutoCAD 2013 and I am on the "AutoCAD Classic" theme.
I tried doing a search online and on the forum with keywords such as "edit title", "edit name" but nothing relevant came up.
In MS Publisher, if you move objects off of the page they are in the scratch area. The scratch area enables you to have several objects readily available to you as you layout the page.To hide the scratch area objects and see a clean view of your page, uncheck the Scratch Area option. Objects that are partially on the page will appear clipped so that the portion in the Scratch Area is not shown. How can I do that in Coreldraw?
Trying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
We have a title block and border which is used in MS. If this is referenced using AMTITLE then it acts as expected. We issue these to some external people to create our drawings but they have been using CTRL-C and V to place them in a new drawing. ACAD does now not see them as a Title block or border but as blocks. We have a process to bring DWG's into SAP and this will check for a title block and border.
The issue is we need to fix these drawings and currently this means removing the borders and title blocks and placing new ones then adding all the attributes again. Is there a way to convert the blocks back to how they should be?
How do I add a border around the entire home page,
This CSS style sheet is part of the original 5-page site template. I am actually using only the first page of this template (with various sections from the other pages incorporated into this home page). Does the CSS style sheet actually apply also to this 1-page modified template?
I use the default page very unusal way by keeping the width & height with max. page size. I need your favour as if i want to A4 page border i am going back again and choose a4 page and double click on the rectangle to achieve it and again i choose by max. page.
create a a4 page border, or any preferred size for executing them using shortcut while keeping my max. page size.
How to put a lined page border around my page. In MS WORD it is very straight forward but I must be missing the obvious here though my 15 year old daughter can't work it out either which makes her old dad feel a little bit better about it.
I've installed Inventor 2012 with local (desktop) content libraries.Everything installs OK except the ANSI content library which throws an install error and stops the install.
I had to uncheck the ANSI library prior to install to get everything else to install.Occurs on both of my machines (Win7 32-bit & 64-bit).I think the ANSI install file is corrupted.
How/where can I get the "installed" ANSI content library file that gets installed into C:ProgramDataInventorContent ?
The title page of my photobook has disappeared, and pages 2-3 now show in the pages panel as "title page". Can I create a new title page and put pages 2-3 back where they belong?
I reset preferences using the shift key and the instructions on the cited web site. neither worked I also restarted the computer. If I open paint shop X5 the paper edges can be seen behind the image but if you look at the enclosed screen print you can see paper edges are not visible in paint shop pro X6.
I'm printing a letter size document from illustrator at 50% size. All pages have a white background so I would like to have the document print with a black rule/ border around it so I can tell what it will look like. Is there a way to do this without manually putting a rule around all 25 existing artboards? Or is there a way to do this in the Acrobat pdf I'm outputting from this doc?(CS5)
I want a sheet size that is 24x36, not ansi D of 22x34. I can create it in the Edit Sheet dialog, but then the titleblock reports "Custom Size (inches)", not "D".
I have an HP Designjet 800 that is currently loaded with a 36" roll. I'd like to print to ANSI D in a landscape orientation, but D (landscape) isn't an option in the paper size drop down. Printing D in portrait orientation just wastes a bunch of paper space.
How do I change the paper from 22x34 to 34x22? (or vice versa, whichever way I need).
I have a DesignJet T1100ps and a DesignJet Z5400. I have a PDF from a client that has 2 pages that are ARCH D size and 3 pages that are 11x17. All pages in the PDF came from AutoCAD 2013 paper spaces. The plotters are in offices 50 miles apart.
When I print to the T1100 and state pick page size by PDF page size and choose the option actual size the plot print correctly. The plotter will nest the pages and print to scale. I get 2 Arch D pages and 3 11x17 pages.
When I print to the Z5400 the pages get changed to ANSI D pages and get cut off because there are 2 inches of paper missing. If I shrink the plot I can print them so they are not to scale but fit inside the ANSI D size page. This doesn't work when we need scale drawings. The Z5400 and the previous DesignJet 800 both have this issue.
Due to the distance of the printers I can not plot at one office for use at the other. I would like to try and solve the issue via software if possible. So far my only work around is to pick ARCH D in the plotter driver and print all pages to ARCH D by shutting off the option to print pages by PDF page size. This wastes a lot of paper because we print actual size. I can also print one page at a time.
We asked for the drawing and were able to get an original copy but it is GSA and they typically do not provide the originals. If I print form the drawing directly to the plotter from AutoCAD everything comes out the right size. AutoCAD also generates the PDF file correctly according to the page properties.
What might cause Adobe to change our CAD prints in a PDF from the ARCH D size to ANSI D size for this Z5400 plotter?
