View 2 RepliesThe title blocks that we use have prompted entries in them and I would like to find a way using iLogic to copy the entries from one title block to another within the same drawing; i.e.. if the user decides to change from an A2 to A1 drawing.
I already have an iLogic rule which allows the user to change the active border, title block and sheet size based on a form selection but would like it to capture the prompted entries already entered and re-use them after the change.
Is there a way to change the default margin offsets (i.e. the distance between the edge of your border or title block to the edge of your paper), without using the "Insert Drawing Border" option?
I would have thought you could do this through the "Edit Sheet" or "Define New Title Block / Border" options. I have multiple customized title blocks, which each require their own margin offsets.
I can't for some reason get this rule to work, simply want to be able to choose what title block to use.
I created a text parameter with the multi-values: TES ELE and TES EQU
I have 2 title blocks in my template called TES ELE and TES EQU
Here is my code, basically, I want to rule to apply the title block based on the selection, which will be done on a form.
If Title = "TES ELE" ThenActiveSheet.TitleBlock = "TES ELE"ElseIf Title = "TES EQU" ThenActiveSheet.TitleBlock = "TES EQU"End IfInventorVb.DocumentUpdate()ThisApplication.ActiveView.Fit
I have found many threads in this forum and have used their solutions for this rule, but for some reason, my rule will not select the title block and place it in the drawing.
Here is a snap of my set-up and my template file is attached

I am trying to create an iLogic (or VB) rule to update an active drawing title blocks from our Template File.I don't want to use any of the external software (Transfer Wizard etc), we just need a simple rule that will update the title blocks when we need to.

I want A1 where A does not change and 1 changes depending on sheet number.
In fact, some of the things I've found online refer that you cannot automatically replace entire Titleblock Templates for existing Sheets in the Sheet Set Manager. So, here's my question:
Can you replace all existing Sheets in a Sheet Set with an entirely new Template file automatically, without opening each Sheet and re-inserting the Title block?
Example:
Let's say I have a Sheet Set. Inside the Sheet Set, I already have 20 sheets created. I then realize that my Template file is missing our company logo. I then have to open the Template file and insert my company logo. Well, this works for all newly created sheets from that point forward, but how can I get this change to automatically populate in the existing 20 Sheets that are already in the Sheet Set?
I created many sheets with a wrong border, can I reassign another titleblock instead of making all new sheets from scratch?

I have a Revit project with two different types of title blocks - one for Planning Board Submissions and one for Construction Documents. Is there a way of changing the title block family for a sheet from one family to another? I cannot seem to be able to do this without deleting the sheet and re-creating it with the new title block family.
I cannot just edit the family and reload it because, like I said, I need to maintain certain information on some sheets and different information on others.
I use two different measuring system IMPERIAL and METRIC.
What I want is to be able tell at a glance, by having different color border and Title-block Text is which one of the system of units I'm using
So what I'm wanting to do is create a Metric Sheet template with on color, Border, Title Block Text and a different color for the Imperial.
I've tried changing the color using the Style Center but that affects both templates, I've tried editing the title-block text saving the template but on opening it has changed back to the defaults set in the style settings and dose not hold those that I set.
What I don't what to be doing is changing them after opening, as at some stage I'll forget.
Is there a way to access any data of any Border in a Drawing files when creating a sketch in the file?
I'm trying to make a Title Block that take up the whole length of the Border bounded page and 10 mm high, anchored on the bottom.
Currently I had the Default Border "changed" by Inserting it and changing the margins to fit to approximately my printer's printable area. It seems at this stage when I created a new title block defn I'm basically given a blank sketch with the origin at the bottom left as my only "snap point".
I found one through subject suggestion about using iLogic to change the size, but that isn't exactly what I'm trying to do as that seems just a switch for different Title Blocks that's been made up.
I thought about just drawing the title block in with the border, but I don't think that's the right way to do it.
Is there any way to draw your Title block in this case beside manually figuring out how big the Border is and dimension with that raw number?
(Just curious as it would be just a simple subtraction, but if I changed the Border margin I would have to repeat the arithmetic...)
When i create a drafting i use ISO.idw template. I delete the default title block and the default border and then i create my personal title block and border. How to save the new title block and the new border somewhere in "Inventor's memory" and use them in other draftings?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have run into a problem with AutoCAD 2010 while trying to copy paste within 2 different drawings. Copying blocks from 1 sheet to another causes this error message "_pasteclip *Invalid*" It wont let me copy in the blocks. Sometimes after that happens all i need to do is a regen command and it fixes it. Other times im forced to switch to model space and then back to paperspace which then lets me paste the objects. This is not isolated to my computer, it happens on other computers here in the office.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe want to use our AutoCAD company standard templates within Inventor. I’ve followed the procedures to accomplish this under the heading:
Create a .dwg template in Autodesk Inventor from an AutoCAD .dwg template
This works without any problems. Inventor is able to recognize the size of our template border (20.75” x 33”) and correctly selects a sheet format of 24” x 36”. The template border is centered on the 24” x 36” sheet just as we would like it (see attached).
The template is used to create a new Inventor .dwg, and base views are placed and annotated. No problems, everything looks good. The new drawing is saved and Vaulted. However, at some point Inventor "shifts" the location of the template on the 24” x 36” sheet format (see attached). This action is unpredictable. The drawing might be checked-out and checked-in several times before the “shift” happens. When it does we have to re-locate the views and other text annotation to suit the new title block & border location.
How can we lock the position of the template border & title block? (Should be noted that we need to keep our template positioned such that the bottom left corner is at 0,0,0 when it is opened in AutoCAD.)

I have an ilogic assembly that I change to different widths. And I want ilogic to put the part number into the title block according to the size of the assembly.
What I have works but won't update on its own. I have to open the ilogic rule and close it, then open the i properties of the idw and close before it will update.
Earlier I`ve used a simple code from Rob Cohee to update the title blocks and it works like a charm, however, now I would like to try to kick it up a notch.
If (ThisDrawing.ModelDocument Is Nothing) Then ReturnmodelName = IO.Path.GetFileName(ThisDrawing.ModelDocument.FullFileName)iProperties.Value("Project", "Part Number") = iProperties.Value(modelName, "Project", "Part Number")iProperties.Value("Custom", "Client") = iProperties.Value(modelName, "Custom", "Client")
I`m working with several similar projects where the Inventor models and IDW`s is copied from one project to another. A typical project can consist of 50-75 drawings and the only properties needed to change is Client, project number and drawing number (consisting of the project number and a suffix, ex 123456789-125).
I would like to try to make an .ini file with these 3 properties in the root of the project folder so they can be changed and updated easily.
I create a thread here: and I have most of what I require, but for some reason I can't iLogic to swap my title blocks within my drawing template.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo far I can discover parameters and ilogic aren't possible in the definition of a drawing border.
How can fold lines be created in a border that can be used for multiple scales?
I have a form that is loading automatically in my part model. where i write the part number, description, project and custom titles.
my questions are:
1 - when i write the part number i would like then when i click apply it opens the save box with the same part number.
2 - it's possible to check-in the file during the saving and keeping the file checkout?
3 - i would like that some of the properties would be transfer to the drawing, like the description and the project (this two are from the part properties.
4 - transfer also for the drawing the custom titles to the custom i properties of the drawing as pre fill in.
I am currently working with fx parameters and iLogic to drive a model and it's corresponding drawing to change based on a single user parameter.
I have managed to get the drawing to update both the scale of the views I need and the size of the sheet with the change in parameter using the following rule:
IfParameter("EB75551.ipt.Rise")<1801Then
ActiveSheet.ChangeSize("A1", MoveBorderItems :=True)
ElseIfParameter("EB75551.ipt.Rise")>1800Then
ActiveSheet.ChangeSize("A2", MoveBorderItems :=True)
EndIf
However when i attempt to use this with the title block using the function:
ActiveSheet.TitleBlock="My Title Block"
in place of the sheet change size it brings up the error message:
Error in rule: Drawing Title Block, in document: Drawing
The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG))
I have read elsewhere that this is due to me having prompted entries for the scale and drawn by fields, however when i use the function designed for prompted entries: ActiveSheet.SetTitleBlock("Other Title Block", "promptedEntry1", "promptedEntry2")
It fills in the prompted entry fields from the code and if i change these entries in the "edit field" option they are overwritten when it is updated.
Is there a way have the prompted entries when you open the drawing fill in the "promptedEntry1" field in the rule so that I can use the rule? Or am I going about it the wrong way?
I should point out i'm new to iLogic and no-one in my workplace can use it so each person changing the "promptedEntry1" field to the scale they wish isn't a wise move.

I do not want the Revision History block as a Symbol.

Have more than one drawing template? (we use A and B size sheets)
My questions concerns, metric vs imperial A vs B vs C etc etc drawing sheet size title block does not scale down accordingly when change sheet size within an existing drawing template.
Is it possible to have one drawing template that can be toggle imperial vs metric, and then sheet size selected and then the title block scaled down or up accordingly? (I would assume this could be done using iLogic)
Or is it normal to have different drawing templates for sizes and units?
i have created some dynamic title blocks with text attributes in title column. I have gone back an added some more attributes at a later date and these new ones will not move with my dynamic stretch! I have tried everything, modifying the action, re-doing the action, nothing works!
