I am looking for an inexpensive website that offers USGS maps with aerial photo and CAD linework overlays. I used to be able to purchase these files from Topo Depot but they closed their site down at the end of 2012.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAlso shift position (north/south). Have done this before in Autocad cannot remember process. It was a very simple procedure but I can not find any documentation on it. I do remember it involved picking the new position for each corner of the quad.
As well ,is there a way to clip the collar in Autocad. A clip that will not be affected by other clips necessary to other drawings?
I am creating a large base map and the county is supplying me with a bunch of jpeg files to use. Each map seems to come with 5 different files..how to put these images in correctly using AutoCAD 2010.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been using the Web Mapping Server for inserting aerial photography for quite some time now. I recently upgraded to Civil 3d 2010, and now when I attempt to insert an aerial photo I get a message box that says "There was a problem adding data to Map." and the image does not show up. When tried on a machine with full administrator privileges it works just fine.
This is a new problem that does not happen in Civil 3d 2009. Here is a link to the WMS site that I have been using, it is through the Land Management Information Center with the State of Minnesota.

I am printing some drawings with points over an aerial photo. I want the points to print bold but when I increase the lineweight of the layer, they don't print any heavier. They are just AutoCad points and I have pdmode set to 3. What can I do to make these points print bold?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I go into Full Editor I have The Learning Center on the left and to the right of that I have the Tools Toolbar.
My problem is that these overlay the photo I am trying to work on. I do not think this happened before. I am sure I did something to cause this but I do not have a clue what that would have been.
It seems to me that the workspace for the photo was to the right of whatever was on the right.
I am calibrating a new plotter in the office. I often work with color aerial imagery. How do plotters interpret the colors in an image? Does it work pixel by pixel, and if so, does it use an RGB, HSV, CMWK, hexidecimal value? Does the plotter MACHINE just "scan" the image is one "object" or does it work in batches, or "tiles"? I don't want to alter the image in Photoshop just yet, but I am curious as how the plotter MACHINE is determining the color and how bright, vivid, dull, the IMAGE is plotting at?
The other issue is that the newer plotter plots in more vivid colors than our older machines, but the difference between the 255 AutoCAD colors is less pronounced. I am concerned that adjusting the individual RGB values for each of the 255 colors won't make any difference if the NEW plotter is factory-calibrated to produce vivid colors with little difference between brightness, contrast, etc.
On a side note, I do oil painting as a hobby and I run into tinting strengths, brightness, luminosity all the time when mixing various oils, pigments, and binders
In the image below I have an aerial photo of an Island. I need to make it so as water areas are black and land areas are white (not greyscale) almost like a silhouette. My first plan was to draw round the island with a black paint brush and then use the "bucket fill" with a suitable threshold to fill all of the areas up to the black outline with black, however this doesn't work as the bucket fill either breaks through the black line or when I reduce the threshold, doesn't color the water areas solidly.

First question - is there a way to use the nVidia plugin?
Next - is there a Corel way?
I have created my own greyscale heightmap images and I can export red channel for alpha. Then I flood fill the red channel black and the blue channel white and export the RGB as the colour part. Creating a dds image gives me a pseudo bumpmap
BUT
Whenever I use this kind of bumpmap I get the effect I want on the aircraft models, but for some reason, "my" bumpmaps seem to remove the polygon smoothing of the 3D models so that when I "fly" the aircraft, I actually see the polygons instead of the smotthed mdl surface.This photbucket link shows what I mean.
The left hand image shows the original bumpmap on the original model. The next image shows modified artwork on the same model. Then I have change to a "D-i-Y" bumpmap and the last two show that although the desired bumps are there, I now have the wireframe polygons visible.
I am looking for software that will convert USGS GIS data to CAD format. Does AutoCAD offer such a thing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project that I need to map the terrain as a tin solid so that I can do some cut and fill analysis. I have downloaded a orthographic and elevation data from the USGS website. I cannot get AutoCAD civil 3d to create the contours properly.
My current workflow is: use mapwspace to bring up the task pane. Connect to the geotiff image in the 1-153383539 folder. Then I try to create the contours and the option is greyed out.
I would like to know if I can import my AutoCAD 3d file into 3DS MAX, with the lighting maps and material maps intact. This is because I am doing my thesis on AutoCAD 2011 but I would like to use 3DS Max to do a walk through video.

A friend told me to just do a "tiff or pdf overlay". He said bring in the floor plan as a pdf or tiff and add what I want in acad. Of course he only knew how to tell me about it, not actually do it. Is this possible in ACAD 2006?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on an alignment sheet for a gas line. I am showing an aerial in my main viewport in plan view. I am only showing line work between match lines nothing pass that except the aerial. However I have two more viewports aside from the main one. I have one to each of the sides of the main viewport to show the aerial image only pass the match lines. My viewports are locked all three of them, yet my image on the viewports to each of the sides of the match lines keep acting up and won't show correctly every time I zoom out or in. They'll be a time that they will but if I zoom out or in after that they will move and not match my main viewport were the line work is at. I only copied the main viewport and resized it to fit in the template pass the match lines. Created a reference point to zoom into my aerial after the match line and it all works until I'm ready to plot and zoom out then it messes up.

Xref overlays are not loading properly. Coordinates are off after loading ... even with insertion at 0,0,0.

When I go to layout view and print preview either to my plotter or my pdf writer I can see the aerial image just fine within the viewport. But once it actually makes a pdf or prints it to the plotter the aerial photos are not there, just the polylines and objects within the drawing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been working on drawings (originally last year done in Civil 2013 with Geographic locations included) in 2014 and have found that when switching the Map Aerial on the location is very incorrect.
By using the Remove Location tool and assigning the Coordinate system via the Drawing Properties, the aerial Map is located perfectly...
Why it does this and haven't tried with other drawings in a different project to the one I'm workling on.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my entire department to 2013 from 2008. We can no longer import aerial images from Google Earth, publish KMLs or export generic Microstation design files (we have to choose from V7 & V8.)
I can't beleive this "upgrade" actually downgraded our functionality as a department. We can no longer provide sevices to those requiring these file formats and will be forced to discontinue the use of CAD for many of our projects.
I can't zoom into a Geolocation Aerial Photos in Civil 3D 2014. I get "No Photo" background if I try to zoom in close enough to see.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI took two images, one abstract render and one jpeg of COD4. I used the abstract render as my background layer and added text to make the next layer. Now what I want to do is take the jpeg and place it over the current two layers. Here is my question:
1. Everytime I try to open the image, the two current layers are gone and the image is the new background layer, how do I bring in the image without having it become the background?
Some of my linework is not plotting. This only happens on one of my .dwg files (that I can tell), and only on certain layers. Recently drawn linework only on a few layers simply does not show up on preview or on hard copy, regardless of which printer I print to or which configuration I use. It's not a computer issue because the same issue happens if I open the file on a different computer. All layers are thawed, on and set to print.
However, if I Xref the file into a new drawing, then the linework prints. Here is a copy of the error message I receive.
