I took two images, one abstract render and one jpeg of COD4. I used the abstract render as my background layer and added text to make the next layer. Now what I want to do is take the jpeg and place it over the current two layers. Here is my question:
1. Everytime I try to open the image, the two current layers are gone and the image is the new background layer, how do I bring in the image without having it become the background?
Is there a way to rotate a pattern after it has been assigned through the blending properties box? I want the block pattern to be assigned to a wall that is angled - the pattern overlay texture is a straight on view.
I have a layer that is a vector mask over a solid color. The fill of the layer is black, so when i set it to screen it's transparent. I then have a gradient overlay effect applied to the layer that fades from a solid color to a transparency. There is no blending mode applied to the gradient overlay, so it shows up as normal. It looks exactly how i want it to look!
The problem is when i try to flatten this layer, or export this layer as a PNG. The black from the fill shows up where it's supposed to be transparent, even though it's not otherwise visible. If i try to delete the fill all together, and use use a transparent block to overlay my gradient, it won't work, as there is nothing for the gradient to overlay on. If i try to make the gradient using the gradient tool and then using the vector shape layer, it is imprecise, and i know of no way to control how the gradient is applied, other than guessing with the mouse.
I have a bunch of these shapes that need to stack and use the exact same gradient alignment, and i need to be able to export them as png's. If i make them in illustrator and port them over to photoshop, there is still an issue with pixels smearing along the edges of my shapes.
Here's an example, the appropriate fading is on the top, but when i flatten or export i get the bottom:
How do you add effects on an overlay? I have a overlay which I want to come in using a Barn Door effect but how should I apply that? If I have understood well you can't do that, in that case how do you determine time of the "fade in motion effect" in the attribute tab?
How (and if it is easy) to scan in a base/master map map (for college projects) and then use PAINT.NET to manipulate another outline (secondary) map as a transparency over the base/master map:
1. Creating the background of the outline (secondary) map as transparent, leaving lines or points
2. Stretching the transparent outline (secondary) map over the base/master map so it fits as close as possible
3. Then after creating a number of transparent outline (secondary) maps create a slide-show of the seconday maps over the master map
4. If PAINT.NET cannot do this with ease any pointers what will?
When I am doing shop drawings I hate doing the key plans because I am just re-drawing what the architect has already drawn and then adding elevation marks. A friend told me to just do a "tiff or pdf overlay". He said bring in the floor plan as a pdf or tiff and add what I want in acad. Of course he only knew how to tell me about it, not actually do it. Is this possible in ACAD 2006?
I was in the process of making a banner for my own webcast, but I'm getting frustrated for clearing the background so that a floating banner near the bottom of the screen during the webcast/recorded show.
I've been saving/deleting/experimenting with tolerances so that the background is clear so it appears to float on screen (no effects, just a banner). I've done everything I can to get a clear background, but have been failing miserably, and i couldn't seem to find anyting in relation to this.
The screen size I'm going to be working with is 640x480. The banner I'm creating is 640x100 for the banner. I've also been keeping the Save Configurations to 8-bit so it doesn't effect (I could be very wrong about this too, though) video quality (atleast that I know of).
Here's an example of what I would like to do. . .
Instead of keeping the MF logo restrained in the border, I've been wanting to let it overlap over, but doing that I would get either black or white background, depending on the tolerances that I delete off, and as a PNG file.
I'm using Videostudio 12 pro, and am using all 6 overlay tracks for chroma keyed effects. What I'm trying to do is order the tracks so I can control which tracks lays on top of the other. This can be done in Paint Shop Pro or any other publishing software, like Publisher, but I can't find anything that allows me to do this in Video Studio.
I've found that most of the overlay tracks lay on top of the previous track and it's causing difficulty in ordering the people in my clip. Is there a way to control this? Example, I'd like overlay track 5 to go on top of overlay 4 but it won't work.
X5 Pro Ultimate Default colour duration 6 Default transition effect 4 Jpeg images in overlay tracks (3 or 4)
As part of a slideshow I have applied transitions inbetween the colour clips but they are only working in the video track colours and not the images in the overlay tracks that are on top of the colours tracks. Is there any way of getting the overlays to transition too?
Let's say I have a picture with an ugly translucent overlay, like this:
If I have a copy of the overlay that isn't transparent (or is transparent, but doesn't have anything behind it), is there a way I could use that to remove it from the original image? One application of this would be removing UIs from video game screenshots.
I am currently attempting to create a wood grain background.
I saw that using an overlay gradient really makes it look a lot more realistic but this is to be printed so I am not sure if this is basically treated as a transparent gradient and may not print. Another step in the tutorial I was looking at was also to add another overlay with a colour burn tool so it creates a lighting effect. Again, does this add transparency (my gut is telling me yes).
Here is the tutorial so the effects are better explained (step 8 and 9) - the other steps I have not used as I drew the grain by hand: [URL] ......
I had an earlier issue where I had created gradients with a part of them transparent and they did not print and so I have been avoiding transparency at all costs. The funny thing was when I had a group of objects at 80% transparency they seemed to print fine.
What is print safe and what is not when it comes to such effects.
in Lightroom 5's Slideshow module, i use the Overlay panel (you decide if Identity Plate or custom text appear in the slide show). I've seen screenshots and tutorials where you could add shadow to those overlays - there was a Shadows section at the bottom of the Overlays panel.
But that was Lightroom on the Mac. In my Windows version the Overlays panel does not show the Shadows section that i clearly see on screenshots taken on Macintosh versions.
I'm doing a presentation of various photos and I'd like to include a different text overlay in each one. However, LR only seems to allow me to apply one caption to all the photos. How can I have a different caption on each photo?
I've been unable to resolve a problem encountered when I insert a "title" to overlay on the first 30 seconds of a corresponding video clip.
When played back, the subsequent portion of the remaining video clip past 30 seconds goes missing. However, on this "missing portion" the audio portion of the video clip is present while the video portion becomes solid black to the end of the clip. The same result happens when I burn it.
In the "PROJECT" playback mode both the title and the video play fine, as do both the video and title in the "CLIP" mode.
I have been producing many (4k+) videos in the last two years for my employer with trial versions of x3 and x5 without issues - as my latest trial on x5 has expired my company has decided to go ahead and purchase x4. You can see examples of what im doing here URL.....
The software is muting the audio attached to my segments upon "sharing" them to MPEG 4 - HD.
I record the video on a Sony HDR-Cx110, these files save as .mts. I drag and drop these files into the editor, top and tail them with my intro/outro video and add in two layers - This is where i think the issue comes in. After i add in the two layers the audio from the main segment goes mute. Clicking on "project" allows for the audio to play with the entire project, however when i "share" the project to mepg4-hd the main segments audio goes mute again and my finished product is ruined.
Sometimes this will happen other times it will not. Also after the conversion process to mpeg4 hd has finished i can play the project in the editor with all audio, however when i play the mp4 it has produced the audio from the main segment it mute..
I want to make pattern papers using layers and have found this tutorial of someone using Photoshop CS3. How would this work in X5 .....can't get my head around it. How is the colour applied to the black pattern underneath the coloured layer. I have been searching for tutorials on making patterns with overlays all afternoon but they all seem to be done with Photoshop. URL....
When I go into Full Editor I have The Learning Center on the left and to the right of that I have the Tools Toolbar.
My problem is that these overlay the photo I am trying to work on. I do not think this happened before. I am sure I did something to cause this but I do not have a clue what that would have been.
It seems to me that the workspace for the photo was to the right of whatever was on the right.
I am looking for an inexpensive website that offers USGS maps with aerial photo and CAD linework overlays. I used to be able to purchase these files from Topo Depot but they closed their site down at the end of 2012.
I started to get this strange error with my Photoshop when making a new document in Photoshop and got the following error: "cannot initiate Photoshop because Photoshop cannot create any more windows".
I thought the easiest thing to do would be to reinstall (Photoshop needs reinstalling extremely often unfortunately), but now when I try and open the program it just give an alert beep and closes back up. Even though I rarely use ImageReady, I opened that up to check and it does the same behavior.
Can anyone tell me what color settings I need to set in photoshop in order to avoid this from happening? It only happens once in a while and I don't know what I've done to fix it or screw it up. What happens is that when I'm in photoshop and I do a "save for web" my document jumps to image ready and when viewing '2 up' for optimization purposes and comparison, I realize that the original view is actually duller in color and does not look like the original in photoshop. The blacks are definitely not as black.
when I got my first Macintosh IICX and all of my MacPaint clip art. I don't want to get rid of the clip art because since I'm still using a black ink printer and not upgrading to a color one, the clip art looks nice in newsletters and the like.
Up until this time I had been using SuperPaint which had the New Superbits editing plug-in to refine the pictures so they had the smoother and cleaner lines instead of looking jagged. With my new computer and printer, I'm also getting Photoshop CS packaged with Adobe Creative Suite Premium, which I have never used before. Since I have not received my order yet, I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether Photoshop has the capability of improving the older MacPaint clip art like SuperPaint did with the New SuperBits editing plug-in. Over the past two days, I have been trying like crazy to back-up my pictures with SuperPaint and then re-saving them with Graphic Converter. It's been so incredibly slow that I thought I would go ahead and ask you, the experts, if Photoshop can also improve the quality of my older MacPaint clip art or if I should continue to back-up my clip art like I have been doing.
I have just got back from the Elbow gig and pulled the images off the card. They load up in Bridge but don't have actual picture thumbnails. They are named correctly, ie: IMG_3483.CR2 but they won't open!? Error message says 'Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognise this type of file'
I could see them on the back of the camera.
mac users... i did a software update the other day and I noticed that there was an update for ACR. Could it have been something to do with that? And why can't I find ACR in my Applications?
I use Photoshop Elements 11. I am trying to upload photos to a website and the browse only goes to Windows/Pictures. How do I navigate to photoshop to upload pictures there?
of Adobe Photoshop v6.0.1 (quite old, I know, but it do all I want and on my old HW I did not plan/want to use any more recent version, because they are HUGE and with just a little preferences trick, I did not need to reinstall my PS - ever ), yet as Czech user, I need my software to type some special characters as well. These are looking like this:
[URL]...
Now the only problem is, that some of them PS just refuse to type. Seven small and seven caps are just wrong. See the line "for PS:"...
I battled the problem even by editing the fonts itsels, because that seems to work with Adobe Illustrator, yet this also cause the edited fonts to be useless in another programs. So I looked deeply and in the Adobe settings in directory Fonts / Reqrd are directory CMaps and perhaps editing the character map used will be better and usable solution? how to do it or even determine with file from the 96 files in the CMaps directory are right now used by Adobe Photoshop?
Everytime I open my CS6, it always show " Could not initialize Photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted)" I reinstalled it but it is still popping out.
when I try to save a tagra file with a alpha channel in photoshop 7 the box for the alpha channel is greyed out, with an warning sign next to it, and the line below stating "file must be saved as a copy with this selection" When I examine the saved file the alpha channel is not there!
Has anybody got any idea why?
My old version of photoshop 6, allows you to save alpha channels!
the soft edge feature of the eraser and the brush no longer work. I can go into the pallet and choose a soft edge eraser or brush, but it comes up hard edge. When I try to use the marquee box with a feather to get a soft edge, I again get a hard edge. I've used this technique a lot, so I think I'm doing the method properly. I have removed the preference files a number of times and have trashed the old Photoshop and reinstalled Photoshop 3 or 4 times,
