AutoCad :: Large Custom Adobe PDF Size Not Plotting?

Jan 13, 2012

I'm trying to plot a 48" x 210" PDF using adobe PDF.

Setting up the layout is no problem and I have the custom page size working fine but when I try to plot I get the following:

File: XXXL-baseplan.dwg
Category name:
Page setup:
Device name: Adobe PDF.pc3
Plot file path:
Paper size: PostScript Custom Page Size

MESSAGE: Error : The operation completed successfully.

ERROR: The device has reported an unknown error.

AutoCAD .NET :: Plotting To PDF File With Custom Page Size Using API

Jun 26, 2012

I have AutoCAD 2007 on my machine.I have made a dll using AutoCAD.NET API which does the task of plotting a DWG harness drawing to a pdf file.I specify the device name and the page size to be plotted in a AutoCAD.NET method SetPlotConfigurationName(ps,"DWG To PDF.pc3",papersize).It works fine as long as I keep on giving default paper sizes. But, when I create a custom paper size using the plot configuration editor which in turn produces a new .pc3 file and when I include the same as the device name in the above mentioned method,it does not work.It throws an exception as eInvalidInput.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Plotting To PDF To Adobe Acrobat X- Slow Spooling

Feb 22, 2011

Weve recently updated our systems at our office to OS Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Im currently using AutoCad Architecture 2010. We also upgraded to Adobe Acrobat X.

The iissue i have is when plotting to PDF (selecting Adobe PDF as printer) it takes a long time to spool. Sometimes it takes as much as 4 mins before it completes the PDF. Other times it just crashes.

This is the first im using Acrobat X. Previoulsly i was using Acrobat 8 without issues. My thought is there might be a compatibility issue with the new version of Adobe X. Or perhaps its a simple as the settings im using. The other user in my office is running the same system, but hes using Acrobat 9, and of course his works flawlessly?

The temporary work-around is Exporting to PDF within AutoCAD.

Illustrator :: Why Is CS6 Adobe File So Large

May 23, 2013

I duplicated one of my previously created CS6 Adobe Illustrator files (28 MB) with photos that have clipping masks. Why is my new AI file now 148 MB in size, when all of my newly linked jpeg graphics total only 9 MB? If I save it as a regular pdf it's 148MB, but if I save this same file with the smallest size pdf format, it reduces it down to only 242 KB. No files are embedded either in my newly created AI file. My business associate working on other Illustrator files experiences this same phenomenon sporadically at times too. It has us both baffled.

AutoCad :: Plotting To ISO A1 Size PDF

May 29, 2012

New AutoCAD user (LT 2013 on a mac). I want to plot (print, publish, etc.) my drawing on an ISO A1 size sheet, which is output on a 24 inch roll of paper at my local blueprint shop. I have been using SketchUp very successfully; I email a .pdf to the print shop and they print it with no issues.

I want a proper drawing with title block. I have exported to .pdf from AutoCAD model space and it works OK (not great), but this is not what I want.

- I don't have a large format printer at the office, and the one printer I do have isn't capable of larger than legal (8.5" x 14")
- Do I need an A1 drawing template? If so, how/where do I find this?
- Do I need to install a virtual .pdf plotter? I looked at Cute and I didn't see a mac OS version.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Plotting To Different Printers And Different Size Papers

Mar 13, 2013

I am using AutoCAD 2006.  I have a set of road plans that is 25 pages long.  This means that I have 1 model space tab and 25 paperspace layouts.  Each paperspace layout contains 1 viewport that shows a specific piece of my model space drawing.  I need to be able to print these 25 layouts to multiple printers at multiple sizes.  Specifically, I want to be able to print 11x17 sheets on printer #1, 11x17 sheets on printer #2, and 22x36 sheets on printer #2.   I know how to create named page setups so that I can just pick which one I want to use to print.

Problem #1 - When I change from printer #1 to printer #2, keeping the same size (11x17) sheet, the paper moves slightly relative to my viewport that is on the page.  Therefore, I have to move 25 viewports (1 on each page) every time I want to print my plans.

Problem #2 - When I change the size of page I want to print, the viewport does not size to the page.  Therefore, I have to resize the 25 viewports and re-zoom their contents every time I change the size of paper I'm printing on.

Problem #3 - When I want to change the printer or size of sheet that I am using, I have to go to every layout tab and select the individual plot setup that I want to use.  Is there a way to apply 1 named page setup to all layouts at once?

Ideally, there would be some way to link the viewport to dynamically change with changes in the paper location and size, but I'm not sure that's possible.

Again, I am using AutoCAD 2006.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Plotting Empty Sheet When Full Size Plot

Nov 1, 2012

Ghost in the machine or something:

- HP T110044 plotter.

- All drawings in this project (oops did a saveas and now I screwed).

- All Windows 7-64bit

- AutoCAD 2013

- drawings have Revit AutoCAD dumps X-referenced to them

- Title block is x-refed and created same way as above

- drawing scale is Unitles as well as insert units

- plot preview shows a drawing at 100%

- Drawings will plot fine to 50% scale and 100% scale to PDF but NOT100% to the HP plotter.

- when ploting to 100% size, plotter progress bar in AutoCAD takes awhile, hangs, then dissapears and a new bar appears and jumps across and spits out a blank sheet.

-I have the "plot paperspace last" checkbox checked.

- Could my plotter driver be corrupted?

- Tried on several machines and same thing happend.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Multi Sheet Plotting To Smaller Paper Size

Oct 8, 2013

This is an issue for which no one in my office has any solution.  We create all of our plan sets on E1 size paper. However, when we plot them for redlines we print to C-size to save paper. I know you can "publish selected layouts" to plot numerous tabs at a time. However, I am unable to figure out how to make them plot to a smaller size paper than what the page is set up for. Is there a way to plot all of the tabs at a smaller scale without plotting each tab individually?

We just recently upgraded to AutoCad 2014.

GIMP :: Wikipedia / Easily Generate Large Custom Palettes?

Sep 29, 2012

i would like to expand on the Floyd-Steinberg dithered palette examples on this Wikipedia page.

[URL]

Is there a way to tell GIMP to programmatically generate a 6-bit, 9-bit, or 12-bit color palette?

All the dithered examples you see were created by me a few years back, by individually picking grays/colors to construct a custom palette in GIMP, then translating the original 24-bit parrot/color bars down to the custom palette.

For example the 8-color Floyd-Steinberg dithered parrot and color bars, on the Wikimedia Commons. GIMP does an excellent job of making these, and if you squint at it or look at it from a distance, it looks full-color:

Sure, I'll manually create a 16-grays palette or an 8-color 3-bit color palette, but it starts to get intimidating to make a 64-color, or 512-color, or 4096-color palette by individually picking each color, one at a time.

Also, I do not see how to generate the non-regular palettes without a lot of manual custom color picking:

Non-regular RGB palettes
