AutoCad :: Keeping Modelspace Titleblock In Paperspace

Feb 12, 2013

I have a drawing I'm working from where everything was drawn in model space including the drawing titleblock and the grips for an archD plot. A single viewport is used in paper space that encompasses the entire drawing - titleblock and all. My problem is that I want to use a different scale in the paperspace layout but keep the titleblock (and archD plot grips). Adding another paperspace viewport in the centre of the original does not seem to work as when I adjust the viewport scale it zooms in far too much. Is there a simple solution that I am missing?

AutoCad 2D :: Set Linetypescales Correctly In Modelspace / Paperspace?

Aug 29, 2011

My drawings are setup with these settings:

LTSCALE = 1
PSLTSCALE = 1
CELTSCALE = 1

When I draw a line with linetype GAS then it is NON-READABLE in the modelspace, or I have to zoom in very deep. In a viewport, no matter what scale, it is exactly as I want it. Also if the VP is 1:100 or 1:50, the lines look the same in the layouts VP.

The results (what is printed on paper) are good, so that should remain as is.

How should I use / modify these settings (or my way of working) so that the lines are drawn READABLE in modelspace without having to zoom, and that the lines in the viewports (thus on paper) remain readable also.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Paperspace Plotting In Modelspace

Jan 9, 2012

In the plot dialog box the options Plot paperspace last and Hide paperspace objects are only supposed to be available in Paperspace however they show up as checked in some of our drawings when plotting from Modelspace.  They should be greyed out then.  (see attached)  If I copy/paste all objects into a new drawing everything is fine.  If I delete all layout tabs the options are still checked when plotting in model space.

The only thing I can figure is there are paperspace entities in my model space or that somehow paperspace is leaking through into modelspace.

AutoCad :: Align Paperspace View With Modelspace Rectangle

Nov 30, 2011

Is there a way to align a modelspace rectangle to viewport extents in paperspace? My situation is that I have several page 'layouts' (complete with paper size boundaries and title blocks) drawn in 2D modelspace, as this is how I have been plotting up until now. I am trying to set up these 'layouts' in actual paperspace Layout Tabs for batch processing, and I would like a way to position my view within a viewport so that the recatngle that I have drawn in modelspace snaps to the viewport extents. I am sure this is a 'day1' type of question, but I'm very new to paperspace Layouts.

AutoCad :: Option To Make Drawing Same In Modelspace / Paperspace

Dec 15, 2011

I have this drawing that I just finished. There were a few dotted lines that were showing up correctly in model space. Then, when I switched over to paper space all of those lines were solid. I messed around with the option LTSCALE and set it to 0.01. This made the lines show up correctly in paper space, but now they are all messed up in model space. Is there an option to make it so they show up exactly the same in both model and paper space?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Moving Paperspace Viewport In Modelspace?

Jul 26, 2012

Is there a way to see and move paperspace viewport boundaries in model space?

Explaining: You have created layout which includes multiple viewports with different scale and size (view, section). Now you copy the layout to create a new layout with with same viewports. Now you have to change the view in all viewports. I have used technique where you double-click in viewport and you navigate in modelspace (pan/zoom) until you reach the right position.

The problem is If you have like 100 layouts with 10 viewports each, it takes very long time to pan the views into right position.

I have a some theories:

1.  If I could see the viewports in modelspace, I could drag them all into right position without navigating them one-by-on in paperspace.

2. If I could pan the view in viewport by specific amount lets say 10m to the right.

AutoCad :: Scale Factors In Modelspace To Suit Different Scaled Viewports In Paperspace

Nov 26, 2011

In modelspace, architectural schematic plans sections elevations which, when viewported into paperspace drawings, are scaled to 1:100. I therefore work in modelspace with Current object scale = 1, global scale factor = 100. This makes dashed lines etc reproduce at legible scale in a drawing at 1:100.

What about when I move on to details, which in paperspace are scaled to 1:5? At present I start a new file with Current object scale = 1, global scale factor = 5. This makes dashed lines etc reproduce at legible scale in a drawing at 1:5.

Isn't there a way to achieve this, while keeping both the schematic and the detail drawings in modelspace on the same, single file?

Even the above system fails when I want to scale one elevation of the schematics at 1:50, or foundation details at 1:10.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Aligning Objects In Modelspace With Objects In Paperspace?

Apr 10, 2012

I'd like to know how to align an object in model space with the edge of my viewport in paperspace.

When I draw, I like to lay out multiple complete drawings in model space, make an appropriately scaled bounding box around them, and then snap a view port to the bounding box in my layout. I usually have multiple drawings lined up in a row in modelspace, so when I want a new layout I do a Save As and then pan around in my viewport to find the next bounding box, at which point I have to resize the viewport to get it to snap to the edges nicely. I really want to be able to to it the otehr way around- while panning I'd like to be able to grab a corner of my modelspace bouding box and snap it to the the corresponding corner of my viewport window. That way making new layouts would be a snap. Is there a way to do this in AutoCAD 2012 LT?

AutoCad :: How To Reload Titleblock To Each Layout

May 4, 2011

This is a 2 fold question.

I have a drawing with 18 viewports, each one has (should have) a titleblock but xref manager tells me it is not found. Firstly, why would it now not be attached? And secondly, why am I not simply able to re-reference it? I tried to UNLOAD and DETACH it but it wont do it as there are multiple inserts. So I tried to RELOAD and ATTACH but no joy. It simply gives me the path to the referenced file (which is correct by the way) So, how do I reload the titleblock to each layout?

AutoCAD .NET :: Swap Titleblock Between 2 Drawings

Feb 4, 2013

I have 2 files and I'd like to copy a titleblock from a template drawing and use it to replace an existing titleblock on an in progress drawing.  The titleblock on the in progress drawing has attributes, and I'd like to keep them when I put in the new titleblock.  The attribute tag names between the 2 titleblocks are the same.

I do not know the exact names of the titleblocks, only that they contain the words "title block" somewhere in their name.

I've developed for Inventor for a while now, but I'm completely new to AutoCAD.  How might I go about this?

I believe the basic steps would be something like this:

1.  Identify which object to copy from template sheet.

2.  Save that object to memory

3.  Identify object to replace in existing drawing

4.  Copy attributes and get position of existing titleblock

5.  Delete existing titleblock

6. Insert new titleblock and copy in attributes

I've taken the Autocad tutorials, and I've searched for relevant posts on ThroughTheInterface.  Is there someplace else to look which might give a more in-depth example of what I'm trying to accomplish?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Titleblock - How To Display The Units Shown

Oct 24, 2012

I use a single IDW template for all my drawings.  In it, I've got multiple dim styles....  One is Inch, one is mm, and one shows alternate units as Inch (mm).

In my titleblock, I've got a box that says "Units: " and I've currently got this setup as a prompted entry so that I'll have to think about it when I start the drawing and manually enter "Inches" or "mm" or "Inch (mm)".

Is there a way to automate this so I don't have to manually enter it, or remember to change it if the units change down the line?
