Jan 14, 2012I have a pline include some radius, and it has so many perpendicular line on it, so you can see it in attachment.
What i want to do is, write numbers for each perpendicular line 1,2,3..etc,
and write distance for each line (for each mile stone).

Sep 4, 2012I have just installed 2012 and have drawn a 3d model. In paperspace i have a couple of viewports , all nicely set out at 1:5 scale. then i click in another viewport and bam, all the other viewports change scale (zoom out) and orientation. is there some system variable that i have overlooked?

Is there a way to export out the layout tab where the viewport contents have been converted and placed into the layout space?
Ideally, I'm hoping to basically convert the viewport heavy paperspace into a dumb model space layout.

Oct 21, 2011The code I'm using is supposed to go through all of the layouts and freeze the specified layer in the single viewport that is defined on that layout. It works for some viewports, but not for others. A "List" of the objects show the viewports are the same. I have a LiSP routine that gets me more info about selected objects. The first is a viewport that does not freeze the specified layer, the second does freeze the layer. Here is the code I'm using:

Jul 2, 2011I have written some code that draws a graph. The graph starts at the 0,0 default of AutoCad Model Space and goes +X and +/-Y. I want to redraw the labels along the X axis every time the Zoom is changed by the user, to change the text height and density of the labels. I need to know the the current Zoom in relation to the actual extents of the graph. Ideally I would like to redraw the text as a result of the "zoom event" I don't know if there is such a thing or not.

Apr 3, 2013I am running AutoCAD Mechanical 2010, and am curious if there is a way to decrease all the hole sizes on a given part by a set number, say .015.
I work for a sheet metal fab shop, we cut our parts with a waterjet and this requires us to undersize all the holes on the flat patterns by about .015 so they can be drilled out afterwards leaving a nicer edge finish in the holes. Some parts have hundreds of holes with multiple sizes and it can be very time consuming to undersize all the holes. My current method is to undersize one hole and then use the equal constraint to set the rest of the holes of that size to that same size.

AutoCAD .NET :: Crashing When Exporting Large Amount Of Points To CSV
Aug 8, 2012Trying to export points to a csv with the object data that is attached to the point. I can use this and it works great for smaller projects, but crashes every time when I try to export a larg amount of points. The most it has successfully exported was 9000 points but on average it usually will get to 3000 points before i get a fatal error and everything crashes.

Aug 4, 2009Is there a way to add a specific amount/length to a dimension by using a formula? For example, say I wanted to measure a length of conduit between two fittings. The clear distance between the fittings is 48" and the conduit is recessed into the fittings by 3/4" on each side. If I dimension between the fittings, normally it would read 48", but I want it to read 49-1/2" so my shop people know what length to cut.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Increasing File Sizes From One Release To Another?
Dec 1, 2013I have been revising some older blocks dating back to 2003 and earlier. What was a file size of 28KB increased to 127KB! In most cases the only change was converting text to an attribute. As a test I took a 2004 file and saved it - with no changes - to another name and the file size increased from 28KB to 124KB!!! That's an increase of over 4.4 times! Many of my 1998 - 2006 files are in the 26KB - 40KB range.
That's a bit much of an increase over several ACAD versions! Is there a way to reduce the file size? I did perform a complete Purge before saving. Have I missed some clever trick?
I am running ACAD Version 2014 with SP-1.
AutoCad 2D :: Dynamic Block Increasing File Size
Nov 30, 2012I've developed a dynamic block for a standard bulb flat profile cross section using parametric constraints to alter the sizes of the profile. I also made six visibility states for altering the penetration type of the profile through a construction element. It works like a charm on smaller drawings, but on a typical master sectional drawing the file size increases up to 20 or so MB given to the fact that there are over 4000 copies of the block in the one drawing (the dyn block itself is around 100 KB). This makes the drawing almost impossible to work with as you may well imagine. I uploaded the block if you want to take a look at it.
Maybe I'm missing something here because I have searched online for similar problems and found very little occurrences of the same. I tried auditing, -purging, wblock to another file, everything I could find or think of nothing seems to work. Is it just the way it is with files containing so many dynamic blocks or is there a way to make it work.
AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Stretching Multiple Lines By A Different Amount
Oct 18, 2012I'm looking at a block which has multiple visibility states, 2 of which show a beam as a side elevation, where the beam can be stretched to give a length. This works well.
But I'd like to be able to have the beam stretching so the bottom flange of the beam can stretch relative to the top to give an angle to the beam end, and also have the lines representing the flanges (whose position will vary depending on the steel size) can also be stretched to give a neat cutoff.
Stretching the bottom of the bottom flange is easy, but I can't figure out how to stretch the inner lines? They would have to be moved a proportion of the distance which will vary between beam sizes/flange thicknesses, so putting in a fixed multiplication factor won't work. The mathematics to set a multiplication factor based on other elements of the dynamic block is easy, but is it possible to have such implemented on a varying basis?

AutoCad :: Excel File With Large Amount Of Technical Data
Oct 12, 2012I'm currently working on building up a library of 3D models of crane rigging for a new job. Specifically, I'm creating wire rope slings (like this 3/8" wire rope sling) but with less of an emphasis on visual detail and more on precise measurements.
In order to simplify the process a bit, I created an excel file to enter the basic four measurements of a sling (length, rope thickness, eye width, and eye length) which then calculates and displays for me the coordinates and measurements of all the objects needed to make the sling (arcs, lines, circles to sweep along those lines, etc.)
I realize now that I'm really just creating a task of endless copy/paste, and I'm looking for a better way to get through the process. How to make this work as efficiently as possible.
Is there some way that I could point AutoCAD to the Excel file and have it read all the coordinates and measurements to draw everything automatically? I also considered creating a line in Excel that would give output that I could copy and paste into a .scr, but I have never used any scripting in CAD before, so it would be new territory for me.
