How can I expand a border by the same amount in all directions? I have this: drawing and I want to expand the green border by 275 microns. Scaling from a base point doesn't work for what I want because then the new border is not the same distance from the old one all the way around.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have drawn a simple block that I want to stretch in two directions manually or from the properties palatte.
My block works fine once and then breaks down. Stretch the block in the 'Y' direction. Deselect the block. Stretch the block again and only the grip moves. Edit the block and close the block, the block resets.

This works as long as it is not rotated, but distorts if rotated and then stretched.
I'm using ACAD2006.
I have a dynamic block for HSS column. Previously it was always 1"x1" and I would just scale it to the proper column size I needed. Ignoring the wall thickness.
But if there was an asymmetrical HSS (i.e. 4x6) the wall thicknesses and radii of corners would look funny.
So now I want one that has Stretch Actions to change the size of the column. I added a Stretch to one side, then the other with distance multiplier of -1. But as you can see on the attached, the Linear Parameter baseline doesn't stretch. I want to have the Parameter Distance the actual full width of the column so I can change the columns with the Properties Palette. Otherwise, I would just start the Parameter from the center of the column.
The classic example of this, is a plan view of a door which shows you the opening, the arc and the door. How can I put a stretch on the opening and the door with a link in between, so when you stretch one, the other stretches with the same value?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do a dynamic block of a stretchable window frame. One that isn't a rectangle. It could be stretched from 3 corners to all directions. The fourth corner being the base point.
The frame would consist of 2 "rectangles", with a 20millimeter gap between the lines. The problem is that i haven't figured out any way to to keep the distance between the lines constant as the corners are stretched.
I have tried using variations of Polar and XY-parameters with Strecth-actions with no luck.
I am working with a client who works in CATIA V5 and I am in Autocad 2012. Is there any software out there that can accurately convert, in both directions, both 2D and 3D drawings?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have attached my attempted block, all I want to do is stretch one distance and have that stretch action work with the two chained distances to make a uniform stretch. i.e. all the distances will be that same length, but at the moment my stretch is just stretching the chain actions in the same direction as the primary stretch rather than stretching each uniformly outwards.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have written some code that draws a graph. The graph starts at the 0,0 default of AutoCad Model Space and goes +X and +/-Y. I want to redraw the labels along the X axis every time the Zoom is changed by the user, to change the text height and density of the labels. I need to know the the current Zoom in relation to the actual extents of the graph. Ideally I would like to redraw the text as a result of the "zoom event" I don't know if there is such a thing or not.

Trying to write a srcipt to copy/paste a certain amount of text in these coordinates (ie.: 1.8520, 13.1085, 0.0000) in 100+ drawings to a file (ie.: 123.txt or 123.xls)
I'm stuck on the "paste to file", is this possible?

i downloaded a DWG from the subzero refrigerator website and i saved as a dxf and tried importing into cabinetvision and it says there is 21000 faces and takes a while to load and slow my computer down, is there anyway to reduce the number of faces?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running AutoCAD Mechanical 2010, and am curious if there is a way to decrease all the hole sizes on a given part by a set number, say .015.
I work for a sheet metal fab shop, we cut our parts with a waterjet and this requires us to undersize all the holes on the flat patterns by about .015 so they can be drilled out afterwards leaving a nicer edge finish in the holes. Some parts have hundreds of holes with multiple sizes and it can be very time consuming to undersize all the holes. My current method is to undersize one hole and then use the equal constraint to set the rest of the holes of that size to that same size.
How do expand my printable area? I'd like the border of my drawing to be about 1/4" from the edge of the paper but it gets cut off at about 3/4" away.

I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.
I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.
If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?
Trying to export points to a csv with the object data that is attached to the point. I can use this and it works great for smaller projects, but crashes every time when I try to export a larg amount of points. The most it has successfully exported was 9000 points but on average it usually will get to 3000 points before i get a fatal error and everything crashes.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to add a specific amount/length to a dimension by using a formula? For example, say I wanted to measure a length of conduit between two fittings. The clear distance between the fittings is 48" and the conduit is recessed into the fittings by 3/4" on each side. If I dimension between the fittings, normally it would read 48", but I want it to read 49-1/2" so my shop people know what length to cut.
