AutoCad :: Generating Plant List From Plant Block References With Attributes
May 15, 2013I am trying to generate a plant list or plant legend in autocad 2004. I have block references that I have created that have block attributes such as qty, plant name and size. I know in other software drafting you can generate a plant list or parts list, but can't find the method in autocad either in help option or in my autocad book.

May 26, 2011When we try to plot a drawing with an attached PDF, the quality if extremely bad. It also processes for 5-10 minutes for each file before it will plot. The processing takes place in the plotter and not AutoCAD.
I have attached a portion of an example. Everything shown is apart of the PDF itself. Everything else created in AutoCAD comes out with great quality.

Oct 22, 2012I would like to know if there were any way to generate a drawing (.idw) using given parameters from i.e. macro, VB, or etc. What am trying to do is set up a template for a mass produced component that we manufacture that has many different variations. Usually the dimensions that changer are the OD, ID, and length. Is there anyway for me to accomplish this in Inventor Premium 2012?

Sep 20, 2012So I made a shop drawing of an assembly, which is very complex and took a great deal of time to complete. It has 3 sheets and a bunch of different views and information already on the drawing.
Now the thing is I took the assembly and made it an iassembly; but I did this in another file so I wouldnt screw up all the work I did before. Now I realize that I dont have the links to the shop drawing that I wish I did.

Nov 21, 2011We do most of our drawing in 2D – quaint I know, but that’s the way the office works. On occasion we’ll do something as a solid model to guide a client understand a complex roof or a clearance problem. We started a model for a project we are working on and ended up using it as building elevations.
The problem is with plotting. If I use our standard office CTB (which is set to print as black), I get color printouts no matter what I try. I have tried using an STB and changing all our layer colors to “7” in an attempt to make it print black, but I'm getting extremely undesirable - seemingly random - line weight results.
The client wants the next project done in 3D as well and I’d like to be able to have the elevations look right.

Nov 6, 2012I have a drawing when attached into another drawing, the coordinates have an exact 500,000 shift in the X value and an exact 200,000 shift in the Y value. Directely in the drawing, the coords are correct. They just won't attach correctly.
I can tell that this drawing was not created with the dwt we use (it is missing certain styles) - I wonder if the dwt could be to blame.
Also, I have been trying to figure the Map functions out with no guidance, I wonder if I somehow changed the attach settings to cause the shift.

Nov 24, 2011I'm preparing plans for individual land owners. I know I need to filter parcels "by hand", center, zoom, scale etc. I'm using labels to get parcels numbers on the plan but I have to add name into title block. I don't want to use feature labels because concat function does not work (I need to show parcel number) plus the name I need to put on is quite long (it doesn't fit in the drawing).
My question is: Is there a way to put text into drawing / title block from attached table or from feature properties of shp or sdf files?

Mar 13, 2012A customer of ours sent us a drawing that has a TIF file attached to it. Inside the TIF all the objects appear red (we plot with a ctb) but no matter what we do, all the TIFs objects plot with really thick lineweight.
How can we make this print legibly?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Drawing Has Disassociated Surface And Alignment Data References
Aug 28, 2013I am working on roadway project where I am using Pipe Networks to layout the drainage infrastructure. I have set my working dwg up so that I am data referencing the existing surface and proposed alignment. I have set my pipe network up so that it is also referencing this surface and alignment. Everything was working fine. Labels were pulling the correct information from my surface elevations, and stations were being referenced as well, until I got a message that recommended that I recover my drawing.
I ran recover and my surface and alignment data shortcut disappeared. My pipe network now shows questions marks where there were once stationing and it appears that the surface and alignment have completely disassociated themselves from my drawing, however they appear in the prospector, but cannot be refreshed. Again the data shortcut symbol is no longer next to my surface and alignment, but there is a symbol telling me that those objects are being referenced by another object in my drawing (my pipe network). I have tried refreshing, resetting the working folder, all to no avail.

Nov 25, 2013We have generic drawings of assemblies we use in layout drawings as standard details. We insert them as blocks with one or two dimensions that vary (geometry remains the same-these are just representative for information).
We could define these as attribute values so that a user types a length that displays in the drawing but if we wish this to be part of a dimension we would have to explode the dimension to manually replace the mtext dim value with an attribute tag.
This seems unsubtle so I edited the dim value to be a field referencing the attribute value and made the tag invisible. This worked in the drawing-the attached shows the attribute tag ALL THREAD and the resultant dimension text (as a field value) replaced with the default value LENGTH.
When the drawing is inserted as a block it duly prompts for a value for ALLTHREAD and any value can be typed-`1200, 3500, 1672 etc. but the dimension does not update from the default value LENGTH, even after using attsync, regenall. So, if the drawing recognizes the attribute then how come it cant recognize the graphic via a field reference and update it? Is it buried too deep in the database hierarchy for LT to make sense of it maybe?
I dont want to explode the dim but it looks like I may have too if this cannot be made to work.
AutoCad :: Plot To PDF With Batch Plot Or Export Drawing To PDF

When I use the pdf plot drivers from AutoCAD or the export to pdf option the resulting pdf is not available to the other computer trying to access it through a shared folder.
When I plot to pdf with batch plot or export the drawing to pdf and save the file in the shared folder, the other computer can not open the pdf (file not found) or attach the file to an email (you do not have permission)
Why is this? All other files share and open fine. Only pdf files from batch plot, plot to dwg to pc3, or export to pdf. This is a pain and I still have to use another plot driver (cutepdf) to get a fully useable pdf for our office.

Dec 14, 2011Is there a way to use iLogic to replicate the old-school method of replacing drawing references? (ie, where you'd temporarily rename the originally referenced file, open the drawing, and then point it to the new file after Inventor says it can't find the original)
Longer version:
I have an iLogic configurator that manipulates skeletal models, copies them out as new files, and swaps them into template drawings. The original skeletal model can be configured in several different ways (different features, surfaces, etc), so I have several template drawings set up for each model depending on the configuration.
The problem that I'm encountering involves the order in which the drawing is loaded and then has its references replaced. When first opened, the drawing loads the original skeletal model which doesn't have all the geometry of the "new" model for which the particular template drawing was intended. This makes most of my section and detail view constraints go belly-up. After subsequently replacing the model references with the "new" model with the correct geometry, the section and detail view constraints fail to resolve themselves, and my once-perfect detail drawing is ruined.
If I instead force the drawing to open with the new model from the git-go (via the workaround discussed above), everything loads perfectly. However, I haven't yet found a way to handle this automatically with iLogic.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Xrefs To Stay Attached To A Drawing File / When Using Dropbox As Network?
Mar 11, 2013Is there a way for xrefs to stay attached to a drawing file when using Dropbox as a network? All files are saved to the dropbox which is loaded on both computers that need to access the files. If I do work and save an xref in a file that is then opened by someone else on a different computer, the xref is not loaded and has to be re-routed. Is there a way to avoid having to reroute xrefs everytime someone different opens the file?

Mar 28, 2012I have all of our .pc3 files on a server, and have created them in the order I would like to see them, however they come in a random order. I have moved them out of the folder, and back in the order I want with no luck. I tried renaming them with numbers in front, and then with letters in front to try and populate the list in a certain order. I only have 16 .pc3 files and MAXSORT is default at 6000.
We are using page setups as well which are not a problem, but the occasional time we need to print to a specific .pc3 file gets annoying having to sort through the list to find the one we want.

Dec 12, 2012When we publish we are always asked if we wish to save the current list of sheets.
See attached screenshot.
One of my users no longer gets this option.
Every time he publishes the program goes directly to the Save List As dialog box so he can name/save a .DSD file. He no longer gets the option of a box asking him if he wants to save the current list of sheets.
My guess is some variable got changed that has removed the option of being prompted about saving the .DSD file.
P.S. We're using AutoCAD 2012.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Change Plot Setup To Multiple Sheets For Use With Batch Plot
May 21, 2013I have one drawing per file at model tab. When I need to plot a multiple page file, I use:
Print > Batch Plot.
The problem is that I have to set plot configurations ( plot style table, plot area, paper size, etc) in each file before use Batch Plot.
Now I received 722 files with a wrong Plot Style Table. For this time I change the associated *.ctb file at Plot Style folder, but I will need to associate the right *.ctb to each drawing. It's also common to have to change other properties.
