AutoCad :: Generating Plant List From Plant Block References With Attributes

May 15, 2013

I am trying to generate a plant list or plant legend in autocad 2004. I have block references that I have created that have block attributes such as qty, plant name and size. I know in other software drafting you can generate a plant list or parts list, but can't find the method in autocad either in help option or in my autocad book.

AutoCad :: Counting Area Of Each Plant

Jan 10, 2014

In plantation design, especially for ground covers that spread across an area, I have to distinguish each plant by hatch pattern. so they're hatched(due to the twisting shapes, with oh so much pain), and the problem comes in when counting area of each plant. Mind there are altogether hundreds of hatch objects to be counted and sorted into dozens of plant types.

I had counted on data exporting, but then i find that hundreds of hatches simply don't have the area attribute. not a surprise, since hatching process was already problematic enough with the borders.

So I figured the quickest way would be to identify those without this attribute and try to fix up their borders. but you can't identify them from a data table, not without the handle number. you can't quickselect by absent attributes either. I'm completed at a dead end now.

I know there's the manual way.. but do I really have to spot those hundreds and process their borders one by one?

here's part of the problematic plan: some of the faulty hatch is colored red, but there are many more hidden in plain sight.

AutoCAD .NET :: Plant 3D - Creating Project Folders

Aug 8, 2012

I am currently looking at writing a function to create our folder structure within the Plant 3D project.

I have looked at the PnPProjectFolder object but am unable to determine how to create a new project folder.

I do not understand how I obtain a folderGUID or the best way to discover if the folder exists. (I can loop through the ProjectItems collection).

We need to add 30 folders, including sub-folders, setting their paths as we are not using virtual folders.

I am not at a stage where I have any code worth publishing here.

AutoCAD .NET :: Add Attributes To Block References?

Feb 9, 2012

I was able to take the attributes from block references in independent .dwg files and and bring them across to a new drawing via import. At this point, there are a few attributes that I would like to be able to add to each block reference once it's created. I've designed a GUI where users can input data, and this input (string data) I'd like to add to the block reference as a tag and a corresponding value.

The basics I understand are to create an attribute reference object. Set the properties / parameters for this object (tag and value (originally as a string) and them append the attribute to the block reference. What i don't know how to do is to actually create the new tags and values in the code so that they can later be appended. I'm in C# and so far i've got this:

foreach (ObjectId id in blockBtr)
{
if (id.ObjectClass == RXClass.GetClass(typeof(AttributeDefinition)))
{

AutoCad :: Price List - Using Attributes In Block / Data Extraction

Jul 15, 2011

I want to make a price list, using attributes in block and then extracting them to cell matching some cells with excel

While in data extr wizard for some reason I cant get the size column to set in ascending order.. Why does size 10 brake the logic?

Can I edit the extracted data without launching data extr wizard?

Data extr wizard brings a data in one table what if I want the table to display other types of attribute ( example see pic for instance instead of EL i have SS no problem until now, but my matched data link in excel is for EL and not for SS)

Its hard to explain Basicly i selected the column in excel for one type of attribute "EL" and I want fo a different name of same attribute different cell matching.

I know how i can populate a list of block names, but I fail at finding an opportunity to edit these attributes.

I get the blocktablerecords, but then?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Updating Block References Resets Block Table Selections?

Sep 4, 2012

We use a number of blocks with block tables for data extraction here, and whenever one of the blocks is modified and updated, all of the block tables reset to the default value. This happens for any block reference change, not just changes to the block table (which makes sense that it would reset).

How can we update these blocks without having to manually change all of the block tables afterwards?

The same thing happens when scaling blocks, but this was resolved using the command BSCALE in the command line.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Dynamic Block References Itself

Jan 24, 2012

I'm having is that this is happening with a dynamic block. I don't know how it got this way...some 'genius' in my office went into this file and screwed something up, and saved it...so now I'm left with the task of fixing it.

When I go into the block, it opens as a regular drawing, with a dynamic block inside of it...as opposed to opening in the block editor. I just need to know how to get this back to the way it should be, without having to redraw the entire thing from scratch. I made a few scrap-copies of the drawing to fool around with and I can't find a solution. I tried deleting the block and purging it, I tried exploding it, and I tried saving it directly from the block editor...nothing worked.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Block With Attributes That Automatically Complete X / Y And Z For Insertion Point Of Block?

Feb 14, 2013

Is there a way to create a block with attributtes that automatically complete x, y, z, lat, long for the insertion point of the block?

I am trying to complete text in paperspace that will automatically fill in the lat long of a point in model space without using a table.  I have tried field insertion with reference to a cogo point, but it doesn't give options for position on a cogo point.  If I pick a block with attributes, it will let me pick any attributes, and x,y position for the block.

Cogo points show all the information I need to propagate in the properties....but how do I get that to translate into the text using fields or some other method?

AutoCAD .NET :: Inserting A Block Defined With Block Attributes

Apr 8, 2013

I can insert a block with block attributes using the Inter op very easily:

Dim theBlock AsAcadBlockReference
Dim pickScreenVBA = myDoc.Utility.GetPoint(, "insert the hydrant")
theBlock = myDoc.ModelSpace.InsertBlock(pickScreenVBA, "Hydrant", 1.0#, 1.0#, 1.0#, 0)
Dim varAttributes AsObject
varAttributes = theBlock.GetAttributes
varAttributes(0).TextString ="3 Ports"
varAttributes(1).TextString ="Salt water"

Works great, but when I try using the non-inter op, all the example insert new Attributes and not add block with existing attribute (so I end up with duplicate attributes for each block - i.e "Salt water" attribute is added to the block each time I run the code),

Are they any examples that does the same as above using the non-interop code?

AutoCad :: Add Some Attributes To Existing Block Using Block Editor

Dec 12, 2013

I'm trying to add some attributes to an existing block using the block editor, but after I save and close it I cannot see any 'placeholders' despite adding a default value and the attributes work fine when I double click the block.

I've tried using the ATTSYNC and BATTMAN commands but nothing works and there are no invisibility states applied to either the attribute or block and all layers are switched on.

I just tried making a quick block from scratch and it seems to have the same affect, except the default value will show, but no 'placeholder' shown if left blank.

I swear with previous version I could see the tag when a value hadn't been applied, so is it that the version I now use (2012) does not have this feature or it's disabled?

AutoCAD LT :: Importing Drawing As Block With Field References To Attribute Values

Nov 25, 2013

We have generic drawings of assemblies we use in layout drawings as standard details.  We insert them as blocks with one or two dimensions that vary (geometry remains the same-these are just representative for information).

We could define these as attribute values so that a user types a length that displays in the drawing but if we wish this to be part of a dimension we would have to explode the dimension to manually replace the mtext dim value with an attribute tag.

This seems unsubtle so I edited the dim value to be a field referencing the attribute value and made the tag invisible.  This worked in the drawing-the attached shows the attribute tag ALL THREAD and the resultant dimension text (as a field value) replaced with the default value LENGTH.

When the drawing is inserted as a block it duly prompts for a value for ALLTHREAD and any value can be typed-`1200, 3500, 1672 etc. but the dimension does not update from the default value LENGTH, even after using attsync, regenall.  So, if the drawing recognizes the attribute then how come it cant recognize the graphic via a field reference and update it? Is it buried too deep in the database hierarchy for LT to make sense of it maybe?

I dont want to explode the dim but it looks like I may have too if this cannot be made to work.
