AutoCad :: Field Contents Not Carrying Over To Layout
Oct 12, 2011
I am creating a table of data using mtext to store data such as project name, client name, address, phone, scale, date etc. etc. and I plan to use that as the "master data" so I dont have to change a dozen text blocks whenever I update the file.
So I use FIELDS to enter the data into my title block. Problem is it works fine in Modelspace, but it doesn't carry over to Layout.
I want to point a field to my layout tab, but all I need in the field is the first few letters/numbers (i.e. X-XX-XXX) whereas the layout tab has much more info. I have done this in the past, but right now I am drawing a blank.
I use multiple layouts to produce build drawings and I use the name of the layout tab to identify the sheet on the shop floor.
I currently use a field in the titleblock that calls the system variable ctab, the problem is that whenever you update the fields, they all change to the name of the current tab, not the name of their own tab (by default, when you open the drawing, they all say Model).
I resort to building all of the layouts and converting that field to text prior to printing.
Is there anyway to link a field text from one layout to another layout? I need something that when I change a title to one layout the other layouts will change automatically.
Is there any way to grab the Object ID or name from a layout tab to use in a field? I wish to link the layout name to a callout block so that if the layout tab changes position and name (inserting a new tab), the call out block will update no matter what page it is on. Without using the Sheet Set manager.
I have a sheet set with several sheets, each sheet with a viewport that ultimately xrefs to the same base file. In that base file, I have changed some layer properties (color), but I can't get those properties to show up in the viewports on each sheet unless I go into the layer properties of each viewport on each sheet and change them individually. On other layers, I have set them to be no plot layers in the base file, but they still plot on the sheets. I have tried just simply freezing them as well, but they still show up in the viewports. I have tried viewport overrides, but maybe don't do it properly? How can I get these properties to translate over to the viewports on each sheet without going through each sheet one by one?
My problem is this; I have several production sets (Sheet Sheets) of drawings in which the referenced drawing's layers are not carrying over.
To clarify; In my base file file I went through and froze out and changed the color of several layers. When I reference that drawing into my sheet sets all of the layers are turned back on and set to the original colors. I should also note that the offending referenced drawing is also an xref. It is a large architectural drawing with several dozen nested xrefs refernced into a base file in which I have inserted blocks and symbols.
I've tried different VISRETAIN settings and other options. Nothing seems to work. I've also went through various forums and tutorials to try and solve the problem before I posted here. I'm at my wits end!
for some weird reason all of a sudden the adjustments I make to my images in ACR are not carrying over when I open them in CS5. I've cheked the Adobe website to make sure I have the latest versions of both ACR & CS5 & I do. Any thoughts on how I can correct this? Very frustrating to adjust 10 - 15 wedding images in ACR then they're right back to the original image when I open them in CS5.
I did not download the LR5 beta. This is the new update - upgraded my LR4 catalogue today, now trying LR5. In Develop mode. I'm getting some seriously weird issues.
Example. Adjust exposure by +33 on one image. Hit Cmd Right to go to next image. The next image automatically adjusted itself to +33 to match. WTF?
Changed an image to B&W. Before even going to the next image - the one next to it changed to B&W automatically - to match. Even had the same burn masks etc.
It's like it has Auto Sync on or something - but it isn't.
I noticed that if I adjust by +33 then hit enter. Then go to the next image - the setting isn't carried over. I also noticed that sometimes the preview is carried over. But if I hit the history and go back one state - then back to the last state - it corrects itself. But in the case of one B&W image - it did not. It lost my history of ever having changed the image to B&W. Really odd and worrying.
When I make adjustments to a photo in Ligthroom, such as Lens Correction, those adjustments are not applying to the image when I pull it into Photoshop.
All the sudden it just stopped carrying the adjustments over.
I am a commercial photographer and have use Lighroom since it was introduced. I just updated Photoshop to CS6 and found that the Chromatic Aberration corrections I apply to an image in Lightroom 4.2 are NOT following the image when I open the image in CS6 using Command-E to open the image from Lightroom. All other Lightroom corrections have been applied, only the Chromatic Aberration correction is missing. One other piece of information is that I convert all RAW files to DNG when I inport the RAW file into Lightroom. I had none of these issues when I was using Photoshop CS5.
I'm using Photoshop CS5.5 and I've placed a layer with my watermark. I'm trying to apply a plastic wrap effect, or many different artistic effects. But I cannot preview what it will look like prior to carrying out the artistic filter.
I think I may have to rasterize the layer or something like that. Basically I carry out the filter. nothing changes.Older versions you could see what was going to happen before you carried it out.
One of the great features of the Sony NEX-7 is that the NEX-7 makes automatic lens corrections for vignetting, chromatic aberration and distortion problems. These corrections are written to the file and the preview. However, when converting these images from ARW to DNG the correction data seems to be lost, and the images revert to their uncorrected state. This requires all images to then be re corrected with the Adobe lens profiles, which is both tedious, an extra step, and also seems to produce results that are somewhat less optimal than the original corrections made by the camera.
Should not the ACR Converter and Lightroom retain the lens corrections made by the camera?
I have a bit of a problem with Autocad map 3d 2012. When i try to insert a scale bar or a north arrow or any other carthographic element i simply can't find the layout elements that are supposed to be in layout tools tab. I've done a lot of research online and can't come up with anything.
All my googling turns up is to export my layer manager to excel and stuff. This is not what i want to do. I will try to illustrate what i am doing in the easiest manner possible.
I have a .DWG with layers "A" right through to "Z"
I want to export layers A, E, I, O, U and their contents to a new drawing for another use later.
One problem I face with the iPad on site is the glare. I cannot actually read the contents on the screen. Any tricks to make better legibility under open sky / sun?
I have a drawing with a lot of lines, already, in autocad. Now I want to add tags to the drawing. Meaning, I create a shape, a rectangle and put some words in it. Now I want to paste the rectangle tag with the words over my many lines drawing. But I want whatever lines that gets into the rectange frame to get overlapped by black space in the rectangle.
Its like pasting a sticker tag over my drawing. (what command to type )
I am running 2011 ACA on Win 7 64bit.Today when I launch the program, the contents of the tool palette are incorrect. None of the "door, wall, spaces ff+e, etc...) are there anymore.
Every time I try to edit the Contents of a label on the Layout Tab of the Style Composer I get the errors below. I've tried a restart, a reboot, a repair and a reinstall with no change. This happens even in a new blank drawing. Each of these messages appears and has to be closed about 5 times.
We are expanding our OEM range. I am having trouble adding the parts to our Inventor contents center. I have linked parameters like "L1 and L2" to determine the part's size. When I place this part form the contents center I do get Key Columns for L1 and L2.
However, I am only getting one size under each column. I tried setting values to the parameters before publishing the parts, but this made no difference.
We are working with Inventor Professional 2014.Since switching every time we create a bolted connection using content center files inventor will not let you proceed without checking the bolt/washer/nut out from vault.
This causes issues as other operators are constantly out of date. Also we have custom properties created in our files to tally up with our descriptions on drawings.Every time it is checked out it clears the info and creates new version.
I am using Inventor 2013 API for an application that imports Solid bodies and Sketches from Inventor parts.
Observed that when we import sketch entities, the Text object simply returns 4 lines representing its bounding box. What I want to do here, is to get the formated text as a collection of geometric entities. (lines, splines, arcs)
Is there any API available to "explode" text into entities, or may be a cleaner method that simply returns tesselation of formated text?
Is there a way to change the values available in a Multivalue list, based on another parameter?
I'd like to achieve:
When material is "MDF", available thicknesses are 6,9, 12
When material is "PLY", available thicknesses are 15,18, 25
I kinda solved this already but it's not quite right. I basically mad the list a list of custom parameters, and changed the values of these parameters based on the material parameter. :
This works pretty much, when changing between the materials the value currently selected remains in the list until another is selected from the list. Once another value has been selected, only the correct values are available, but immediately after the material has been changed the thickness for that material is incorrect and could lead to operators specifying an unavailable thickness.
I asked this a long time ago but I'm hoping something has changed. If I have 2 Modelspace viewports is there any way to switch their contents? Right now I create 2 views and restore them in alternate viewports.
