AutoCad :: Drawing Invisible After Block Edit?

Feb 21, 2008

I'm using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2007.

A drawing contained several layers, some of them locked, others de-activated during ongoing works. I wanted to edit a block used in the drawings. I selected the block and opened the block editor. After deleting some elements of the block, I had to explode a couple of elements from the block to delete further details. I selected all the remaining ones. Than I hit the toolbar button MAKE BLOCK, next I closed the block editor.

Now all of the model space appears empty except of the ONE block I edited, everything else disappeared. How can I undo the changes and bring the proper drawing back?

I tried the procedure on an earlier version - minor changes don't cause any harm to the file. But once I exploded parts of the block during editing, the error appears. When I lock up the block list, the edited one shows a sign saying "Dynamic Block" which may be the root of all evil (as the unknown is always the evil).

How to recover my drawing? Getting the backup from tape takes ages, deadline is close.

AutoCAD LT :: Unable To Edit Block Attributes In Drawing

I cannot edit any block attributes in my drawing.  When attempting to do so, the command line states: "The object is on a locked layer".  All of the layers in my drawing are unlocked, on and not frozen.

AutoCAD .NET :: Block Table Records And Invisible Block

Jan 18, 2012

What are all the block table records?

I've got Model Space & Paper Space(Or Layout Space) under control.

I've got two block reference instances of the same block on a drawing.

If I purge the Drawing the older duplicate block reference disappears.

7867 is the older reference that disappears when I use the purge command.

78A7 is the newer reference, I only want to see this one on my extraction of attributes.

What property of the block reference will tell me that it would be purged if I used the purge command?

As I want to detect what's the old block and which one is the current block reference.

The problem is I only want to extract the attributes from the newer block reference.

The old block reference is coming up... how can I filter that out of my loop results?

I know I could just purge the drawing and my problem would be done with. But I need to do this in a manner that only accesses the drawing from a read-only manner.

AutoCad :: Edit Per-drawing Section Of Update Title Block Menu

Sep 13, 2012

I want to edit the per-drawing section of the "Update Title Block" menu and it seems like AutoDesk has not given this option. So where I go to edit this menu or if its even possible AT ALL?

I very much dislike that AutoDesk made it so easy to edit the project wide description lines and left almost no way to customize the per-drawing section in the same way. One would think if you making a product to fill the need of many industries you would add a way to customize it from vanilla?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Global Edit Of Invisible Attributes Without Syncing Attribute Location

Feb 11, 2012

Working in Autocad 2011, PC version. My drawing has blocks that contain (1) visibible and editable attribute. Also contain (4) invisible and constant attributes.  I need to update text information in the (4) invisible attributes. Using BATTMAN seemed the easiest way to do this, but when "Sync" ing the changes, the rotation angle/placement of the Visible attribute changes globally in the drawing.

(Many of the Visible attributes location were adjusted to prevent overlapping with other drawing lines.

How can I update text values of invisible attributes without rotating/adjusting the placement of my visible one?I've tried -attedit & attredef - neither of them did what I needed.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Section Drawing - Layers Invisible

May 9, 2013

I have been working on a detailed section drawing in AutoCad 2013

I saved the file in different files as i gone along, I have been trying to open the file everytime i do all the layers are there but only two are visible all the other seem to be invissible.

I tried it with each file on different computers, same version of AutoCad no success.

It apears that in the preview before opening the file it is all there but when actually opening the file its only a random two layers that come up, missing around 10 others which have the majority of the drawing /details on there.

I tried the unhide, changing line weights in the layer menu, opening the back ups. is there anything else I can try.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Details In Drawing Area Invisible?

Jan 8, 2014

I am having a problem with AutoCad Architecture 2014 on my Mac Pro running Parallels and Windows XP.

The crosshair, grid lines, and actual drawing do not show up on my work space, either Model or Paper. When I installed the software two days ago, the software was working properly. I could see what I was supposed to on the drawing space. Something happened that has caused those items to disappear. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software two or three times but continue to have the problem. Since I am new to ACA, there is likely a setting that I have overlooked or accidentally changed.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Presentation Component Invisible In Drawing

Mar 22, 2007

I created a IPN from an IAM for an exploded view. When I put the base view of that exploded assembly into a drawing, one of the main components is invisible. So when I mouse over the edge of the view, the bounding box does not even reach high enough to possibly include this component. All other components are visible in their correct exploded positions. I tried deleting the view and placing it again, but it does the same thing. The colored and shaded preview just before view placement shows all parts where they should be.

I can't seem to wrap my head around dynamic blocks well enough to get the value from the active visibility state invisible constant attribute. I know how to get the visibility state like this:

AutoCad 3D :: How To Edit Block In A Way Which Removes Original Origin Of Block

May 23, 2013

I use AutoCAD for mac 2013. I'm a interior design student and I have a question regarding editing 3D Blocks which can be downloaded from the web.

If I download a 'free' 3D Block, is it possible to edit the block in a way which removes the 'original origin' of that block?? I have tried exploding the block and redefining it in a wblock file and changing the layer. But I'm not sure if this process has removed the original information which it came from...

If there is a way to remove the origin (that is came from the web).

AutoCAD Inventor :: Opening Drawing File Invisible Causes Code To Crash

Jun 10, 2013

I am building a custom batch update for our drawings to take border definitions as well as custom iproperties from a current template and push them into a specified inventor dwg file.  I built a form for the users to select the template they want to import into a list of files they place in the form.  The program opens the template, get's all the information (iproperties, border defs, etc... using the active document to get the document) then iterates through the list of the users doing the following for each file (also getting the active document to get the items in each file):  open, replace border definition, insert any non-existent custom iproperties, save and close the file.  It works great when I keep the open visible set to true for the files.  When I switch the visible property to false for each one of the files I want to open I get an error similar to this:  Systems.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'Inventor._DocumentClass' to type 'Inventor._DrawingDocument'. at  ---- then my button click event here.

Does inventor technically not see a document as an active document if the file is not visible when opened?

AutoCad :: Global Edit / Block Attributes Rotation BACK To Match Block Rotation

Dec 13, 2012

using AutoCAD 2009 (vanilla)

I got too smart for myself today in bringing an old drawing up to current standards...Everyone seems to want their block attributes to be zero - I have blocks where the attributes are best when they match the rotations of each blocks.

I have an old drawing that was rotated (as it should be) at approx 2deg.

I used a lisp routine to global edit all the blocks that needed to be at zero. BUT for some reason (and after hundreds of blocks were corrected), I noticed I now have two blocks that should NOT have been in the set have had their attributes rotated to zero....and the attributes should be at the same rotation as their block's rotation.

Because those two blocks have a fixed tic mark, I can click on the mark to see what the block rotation is, then rotate its attribute to that rotation, but I have hundreds of blocks! One-at-a-time sucks....

Any chance there is a GLOBAL way to edit an attribute rotation to match its own block's rotation?

Photoshop :: Text Edit Area Appears As Inactive / Text Box Invisible

Apr 29, 2012

I'm having this strange issue with the Photoshop type tool in Photoshop CS5. It might be, although I'm not sure, a bug. The tool itself is working and lets me add text and edit. But the box that shows up when editing text (and the blinking line that shows where I am in the text) - has gone invisible. I am having this issue in only one document. - I tested the type tool on other documents, and everything was normal. I've looked up shotcuts and hotkeys to check if I've tapped a key or something, but it doesn't appear to be so.

Now about the document; it does have quite the amount of text layers, and a lot of text in them. I've tried resetting the type tool, and I've restarted the program.

When I restart the program, the tool works as it's supposed to - but after editing or adding a new text layer, the editing area is gone again! Is this a bug, or have I touched keys that do odd things?

AutoCad :: Edit Dynamic Block Action?

Dec 12, 2011

Basically, I have a dynamic block with a distance parameter attached to an array command. The array command has a column distance of 30 inches between columns. I need to edit that distance. Is there a way to do it or do I have to start over? I have to start over, I might cry a little bit. There are a lot of other actions compounded on top of this one.

I'll attach the file, but if you edit it for me, how you did it so I'll know? Tech a man to fish and all that nonsense.

Oh, and I'm using 2012 vanilla AC, which has a different block editor than most other versions, so beware. Oh, and I don't use ribbons..

Is there a way to do this without redefining the block? Exploding makes me lose all of my dynamic properties, and I'd hate to have to recreate them.

I'm using LT 2008, by the way, so I don't have ref edit or any of that other cool stuff.
