AutoCad :: Converting Open Shell Into Closed Solid?
Nov 14, 2012I want to convert an open shell as shown in picture 1st to a closed solid as shown in picture 2. I want to subtract something later from it so it needs to be solid.

View 9 RepliesI am trying to shell a solid. I get error "No solution for vertex". I am thinking this may be due to where I swept two helix's and where they are connected is not a smooth transition. The file is too large to attach. How to make and attach a screen shot of my drawing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?

I was given a .sat file from a third party company. When i pull it into CAD 2011 it comes in as a "body". It views like a wireframe object. I can't slice, subtract, union, etc. when i import it to Navis works it views like wireframe. The problem with this is that i can't run clash detection against this part then.
Any way to convert it to a solid?
URL....However when I try to export to .STL it won't do it because it is only surfaces and not a solid.I have searched everywhere on how to convert from surfaces to a solid but nothing I have tried has worked.

I am having a problem with opening some files in Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS5.1 Extended (Version 12.1) and have Windows 7 64 bit SP1 OS.
I am trying to open a few templates I made in PhotoShop for a client and they worked fine when I used them 3 weeks ago. All were saved as .psd documents. Now when I go to open them they no longer have the PS icon (to show they would be opened by PhotoShop). When I try to open them I get "Could not complete your request because it is not the right type of document." I have had this problem once before but it is confusing to me because 2 of the other similar .psd files I saved at the same timeframe(separate elements for the temlate) are perfectly fine, only the ones I need do not want to open.
I checked file properties and it claims these files are now Windows Shell Common Dll files.
I was working in Illustrator CS6 I had made a a bunch of vectors for a background and grouped them. I applied a blur to the group and was still editing the vectors within the group since then. After I saved and closed my file at the end of the day and opened it the next day my vector group is now solid. It seems like it is just a raster image? I can't edit it at all. How can I get it back? If I can't change it back I am going to have to start again!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a lisp routine which will 'convert' number of 2dsolid into hatch. Drawing contains dozens of 2dsolids (solids are on one layer, there are also other entities on this layer) which have different colors, have common verticies and edges. i.e. I want to kind of 'join' solids of the same color and convert them into one hatch colored as original solids and placed on existing layer (let it be layer '0' zero for now). Same color solids can exist in few locations - there is a case to make few separate hatches of the same color (all joined solids should be represented as 1 hatch, should not separate after separate hatch command). There is max of 20 different colors (all of them from ACI index). Solids are not crossing themself or other solids (just joining with 1 or 2 verticies).
There are also 2dsolids with 'zero-area' - represented as a line - those should be erased at the beginning (not to have a line-like hatch).
Example drawing attached.
I have some DWG files which contain walls of old castle some of the vertex are missing so I have to join them manually or found software to generate them automatically Does solid works have this functionality ?
After joining vertex how can I convert walls to meshes?
We are going from Solid Works to Inventor as our main CAD program and will be converting files to .ipt and .i am. We are moving our file structure into the vault as it is, with some commonly-used components in their own folders. When I convert an assembly, it only grabs the parts that are in the same folder as the assembly. Is there a way to have it look in other folders for components or to have it ask me to locate ones that are not in the assembly folder?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can draw a closed polyline representing a closed area.
I can then toggle its 'closed' property and it seems to make no difference. area is same, I can extrude or create regions, I can hatch in either case.
in which specific situations we should bother about whether a polyline is closed or not?
I drew a very complicated 2-D plot this afternoon. The most majority of the plot is composed of different straight lines, arcs. Then I used the polyline function to join them together to form a closed single polyline (Modify->object->polyline).
Later on I want to change something in part of the polyline. Then I used the 'pedit' again, I chose 'open'. But the whole polyline won't break into its original segments. I tried through all the menus, just cannot find the right tool for this purpose.
Does it mean I have to start over from scratch to redraw the whole plot?
I have used PEDIT to join multiple polylines, which now appear as polylines. But when I use QSELECT to show all open (non-closed) section, one polyline still shows up as open.
I've attached the file I'm working on. The polyline in question is the green outline on the object on the right.
Id like to append a file with the following text...
(load "C:/ICT/GEBERIT/LSP/GEBERIT.LSP")
Quotation marks and all but how do i Handel them and the open and closed brackets using the following lisp example
(setq f(open "C:/ICT/AutoCAD_Architecture_suite_2012/LSP/acaddoc.lsp" "A"))(write-line "(load "C:/ICT/GEBERIT/LSP/GEBERIT.LSP")" f)(close f)
I need to edit several video frames in order to blur someone's face in the video and it would be useful to "enqueue" files. What I would like to obtain is that when I have edited, saved and closed image1, GIMP would automatically open image2 and so on.
