Lightroom :: Can Export Images From One Open Catalogue To Closed One?
Feb 3, 2013If not, is there a plug in that would do that? I need to select, then combine photos from different catalogues into a new one.

View 2 RepliesIn Lighroom 4.1 , I close a catalogue and when I go to re-open another catalogue and it does not re-open , I have re-installed the software no luck , I have tried to open it with my backups no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the Lightroom 4.1 export feature to export my HDR panorama images as 16 bit tiff in a temporary folder and after that to open the images automatically in PtGui Pro 9.1.x. The problem is if I export more than 25 images PtGui Pro starts one time for the first 25 images, then a second time for image #26 till 51, and so on. This happens during all my test with multiple image formats like 8 bit tiff with/without compression or with jpegs. It makes no difference whether the temporary folder is located on an SSD or a regular hard drive.
Additional I tested LR4 Export to Hugin 2011.4.0 (32Bit) and Gimp 2.8 (64Bit) and the result is the same like with PtGui Pro: After the 25th image a new instance of the program started.
Because of this behavior in different programs, I must assume that the fault must be with Lightroom. Is there any hardcoded limits by handover of pictures to external programs?
(Windows 7, Lightroom 4.1 and PtGui Pro 9.1 are 64 Bit versions)
I have LR 5 and I would like to share a catalog with a computer using LR 4. Is this possible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to export a catalogue for a college assignment and burn to CD. The export had a slight hiccup with conflicts in metadata for 2 of the dng files, but I just overwrote the data. The main problem is when I burned the files to CD and tried opening the catalogue on the CD I get the following error:
"lightroom cannot open the catalog named "..." located on volume DVD RW Drive (E:) because Lightroom cannot save changes to this location"
What am I doing wrong? I'm using LR3.4, and running Win Vista on my laptop at home. Is it an issue with my pc? Should I use the Mac's in college instead? I need to know soon as the assignment is due 11 May 2012 (this fri).
I've mistakenly imported a batch of photos to a wrong catalog. I'd like to move these photos to a different catalog - how do I do that?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently using LR 4 and am unable to open a catalog outside of LR. When I attempt to open a catalog from where it is stored in My Photos I get two dialog boxes (attached screen shots). The only way I can open a catalog is to open LR and go to Open Recent. I keep catalogs for every year and export that year of photos as a catalog and store it where I keep the photos. Up until a few months ago I was able to go to the folder of the year I wanted to open, double click the LR catalog and voila! No problems. The catalog opened.
View 3 Replies View RelatedBefore I upgraded to CS6 and ACR 8.1, LR would properly catalog the externally edited file and it would stack next to the original file.
But now, when I save the file in Photoshop, I would see that the filename change from RAW to Tiff, and the image would save into the source folder. However, there is no file of it in my LR catalog. I would have manually import the externally edited file into the catalog, which I'm sure this is not how it's supposed to work.
System:
OSX 10.8.4
2.8 GHz i7
8GB RAM
Software Versions:
LR 5.0
CS 6.0.13
ACR 8.1.0.43
LR 5 External Editing Settings:
Edit in Photoshop CS6
Format: TIFF
Color Space: ProPhoto RGB
Bit: 16
Res: 300
Compression: none (I keep choosing LZW, but it apparently never remembers my pref)
"Stack with Original" is checked
Additional External Editor is not setup.
I currently have two external hard drives where I have all my bird photos classified into folders by the name of the bird. There are more or less a hundred. I have one external hard drive where I import all the photos to and the other external where I backup the first external hard drive every night. They are getting full and I will soon have to purchase two more, but I was wondering how I could export all the folder hierarchy into the new external hard drive. It surely will be a chore to have to create each one again.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI store my new photo files in my own file system (date and order of taking). It is this I want access to not to some new catalogue which Lightroom seems to require. Is there any way to open Lightroom and go to my files without having to create a new catalogue which I do not want or need? Also I have a separate partition for cache for Photoshop CS5 which I also use to finish off my work. Photoshop purges its files when I exit but Lightroom seems to leave files still in there which I then have to delete manually. Am I missing some prefernce which Lightroom will do on closing?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI made a mistake and attempted to install LRcc on mac os 10.6.8. I now understand that this in not supported. Now, when I go back to LR 4, it will open some catalogues, but not the one with the most work in it. Naturally, I have done quite a bit of work since my most recent backup.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLightrooms crashed, which is a common occurrance. But, this last time was different. After I restarted it my catalog was not linked and all my settings were gone. I tried opening the catalog through the file menu, but absolutely nothing happens. I tried going to the folder and clicking on it but this only opens lightroom with no catalog. After having scanned this forum I found that I need to delete the .lock file, but after doing that the same things happen. how to open my catalog? Will reinstalling Lightroom work?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I import images into Lightroom 4 I always automatically backup to my external drive. I then edit my images and usually end up rejecting about 1/3 to half of my images. I delete these permenantly from my PC and the L4 catalogue. BUT they still appear to remain on my backup drive which is now innevitably full. Is there a quick and easy way of deleting these rejected images or syning the master files with the catalogue to free up nearly half of my backup drive?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Photoshop elements for many many years and am now looking to use Lightroom as an Interface.
At the moment, I have a Folder structure on my computer. At the Top I have Photos. Under Photos I have 43 additional Folders such as ( Cindi/Ivan Pictures, Cory & Jess Pictures, Barry & Janie Pictures, etc..) Now for each of these folders, such as Cory & Jess Pictures, I have a set of folders basically broken down by month/year. Now in a Given Month/Year Folder, I have a set of folders with each one containing the pictures of a given event that occurred ( birthday, trip, etc…). Guess my initial question is how do I get these pictures into a Lightroom Catalog and do I continue to use the same Structure.
Another example - Under the Barry/Janie Pictures Folder, one of the many Folders in this Folder is called Trips. Inside the Trips folder, I have folders for every major trip that Janie & I have taken since 2004 (21 different folders) (For example there is an Isreal Folder). The Israel Folder is made up of a set of folders, for each individual event or place that we visited during our Trip - i.e. 59 different folders. How would this Trips Folder be brought into Lightroom?
Got the <Unexpected error opening catalogue> dialog when starting Lightroom 5.2. Will not allow me to save a new catalogue. Deleted old catalogue thinking that might prompt Lightroom to create a new catalogue or allow me to create and save a new one.Create Folder with New Catalogue allows me to enter a new catalogue name but then Select Catalogue dialog box is empty. Program wont open!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'd like to move my existing LR catalog and keywords from 2.7 to my LR 5 catalog. I am using a windows PC, my mac stopped working last month.
What I want is to end up with 1 catalog with all my photos in LR 5 with all my previous edits from LR 2.7 and the keywords as well. By the way, my LR 5 has photos in it as well.
I've just installed Gimp 2.8.10 on my fresh Win 8.1 x64 installation and I cannot export or open any type of image 'cos there isn't a single option to choose a file type when exporting and also, Gimp doesn't recognise images on my hdd when I try to open them.
So far I've used Gimp on Win 7 x64 and didn't have any problems. The only driver I currently have installed on my system is the graphics driver.
I recently upgraded to version 4.
Yesterday, I mistakenly opened up the version 3 icon and put in several hours worth of image work, metadata changes, and created a couple of collections.
1. What will be the easiest way for me to update the changes to my version 4 catalog without undoing work that I have done in that from the last couple of weeks?
Running Premiere CC 7.2.2 on a Mac Mini 10.9.2. I noticed that exporting ProRes422 media does not include embedded closed captions when exporting via AME CC. It does however work when exporting directly from Premiere. The AME file has no captions at all, while Premiere's export does. So while this is not a show stopper, it greatly slows down production since Premiere is tied up until the export is complete. I have checked AME's preset which is identical as in Premiere and can only think that processing the closed captions is not included when the media is sent to the queue.
If no one from Adobe can shed light, I will file a bug report as it most certainly looks like it is.
I am using Premiere CS6 (Windows 7) to create a movie with closed captioning. I use the MovieCaptioner software (http:[url]...) to create the mcc captions dada file. In Premiere I attach the mcc file to a timeline sequence and enable closed captioning display. I can see the movie with captions in the program window. In closed captioning settings I have cc area and service both set to 1. I am having difficulty finding the correct set of parameters that will make Premiere export a movie which includes and displays the captions.

other than using my second computer! My workflow is set up to edit on Laptop and do bookeeping on my PC.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince the last update I am having images corrupted (truncated) by lightroom, when I open some files in CS5 i get the message about the file being truncated and then only half the image come up.
If I export the file again from LR it works so it's not the usual card malfunction or import errors, my hard drive is in fully working order and tested with drive sentinal.
I'd like to export images from Lightroom 4 with a watermark. It COULD be text, but I want to rotate the watermark 30 degrees. I can't see a way to do that in the watermark editor in Lightroom...
Alternatively, I created the watermark in Photoshop, put in the text, rotated it, and saved it as a jpeg. I can't get a clear background. It appears jpeg doesn't support that. SO, I saved it as a .png (jpg and png appear to be the only two formats supported for a graphic watermark in Lightroom). It looks FINE, except in Photoshop the text is WHITE, which is what I want in Lightroom, but every time I open the .png file in the watermark editor in Lightroom, it comes in with BLACK text...
How do I get a Lightroom export watermark with the text I want in the font I want, angled the way I want?
I have LR 5.3 and everything has been working fine. Now I cannot export more that 5 images even though I have checked my registration number and it is correct.I am using Windows 7, 64 bit.
