Is there any way to change the colour of all faces in a select set simultaneously?
The method I am referring to is when you select faces in a part document, rickt click and select properties from the context menu, a dialog box pops up called "Face Properties" which prompts you to select a colour and click OK. when this is done all of the faces are changed at once.
How do I replicate this via the API?
Currently I have it iterate through each face in a part document and apply the colour override one by one which can take a while when there are about 1000 faces. You can see each face changing as you go.
how to edit a solid with opening a hole only one face and deleting an another face..
I added a drawing file which has a coloured face solid,I put a circle on blue face and making a hole on this face, and I want to delete red face without exploding solid, after all this I want to mesh this solid with maximum 25 units.
I need to alter the colour of the attached image to a gradient fill from blue to green (hex 283E90 to 9FCF6F)
The problem is every time I do this the image loses its sharpness (using magic wand, highlighting the area and filling a gradient and other similar techniques)
I have created a model, by lofting a shape along a curved spline path. The model properties is currently '3d Solid' what I want to do is generate a 3d Face off of this model.
I have exploded the 3d model and that gives me a surface, bu the dilemma is that I do not know how to 'trace' or turn this surface into a 3d face format. What I was thinking is that if the surface could be exploded into individual elements I would be able to draw over the surface with the 3d face tools and then have my model, but a issue with this is that I cant explode the surface into elementary elements AND the 3dface tool cant generate curves.
In short how to turn a 3D model into a 3D Face or a Surface into a 3d Face?
The program I am exporting the model into accepts the following:
DXF Entity SAP2000 Objects
1 POINT Point
2 LINE Frame/NLink
3 3DFACE Area
4 3DPOLYLINE Solid
5 CIRCLE Line(s)
6 ARC Line(s)
Note: To be able to import the dxf entities as solids in SAP2000, you must draw them in AutoCAD as meshed polygons or meshed solids. I could also export the model as a solid but again do not know how to get a meshed polygon or meshed solid from my 3d solid, when I do mesh smooth, the model basically turns into a rectangle and looses its detail.
As you can see it is number 3 I am working on. I have managed to create simple 3d faces and get them into the program but the 3dface tool is very primitive and I cant see how I would create the curves that my model has, I cant seem to form a grid system either to use the 3dface - everything seems to draw in space.
I have this chair in 3d but it consists of 3d faces and i can not convert all of them into surfaces or solids...only the faces that are on the same plane can be converted. Since the object is a little curved...i get the message"faces are not coplanar"...or something.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have embossed text onto a part face with an assigned colour of white (main part colour is black). That is all fine in the part model, and indeed when I use that part in a sub-assembly. But, when I use that sub-assembly in a larger top-level assembly the text is black (which doesn't show up too well on a black background ). I must be missing something in a setting but I can't find it. As a test I brought another white-on-black embossed part into the same top-level assembly and that is absolutely fine.

I'm trying to export the object as ACIS and import it in Hypermesh, in order to process it and make some pressure loading studies. The problem is that if one face of the object is not hatched or represented by a wireframe, the respective face won't be imported with the rest of the object in Hypermesh(applying materials doesn't work).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know I can insert a bitmap in a sketch, but there are two limitations:
1) It only works with flat faces, and
2) It is not trimmed with the face edges.
I would like to be able to select one bitmap, one (or more) faces, the direction of projection, and get the bitmap projected/mapped on the face.
I am making a design on inventor 2013 for a colleague who does not know how to use the inventor.
I want to make the solid and then set something up that allows the user to change a few of the parameters of the solid in a very user friendly way (i.e. a box that says "cylinder radius" and has an input box so the user can enter a value).
I have a problem with changing solid face colour where the Solid has a material assigned to it.
I have drawn a meter and need to add text to the face. Trying to imprint the text is a mission and I don’t seem able to make the text stand out. If I explode the text, Create a solid, Union the text, position the text on the meter face and union the text to the meter face the text takes on the colour of the material. I then try to change the colour of the text face and of course it will not change. The only way I can seem to change the face colour is to convert the solid to a surface which then defeats the object.
As an interim solution to overcome my problem I have created the text and positioned it where I need it and then created a block to keep it all in place. It looks ok and provided the block is not exploded it works ok but i am sure there must be a more professional way of doing it.
Looking for a lisp to convert a poly face mesh to a solid.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I see the object selected change colour dynamically as I adjust the colour sliders?
It seems the object only changes colour when I release the slider. But I want to see it dynamically change, so I can find the colour that works best without "hit or miss" - "trial and error" behaviour.
Yes... I'm aware some of you spend hours in colour programs creating a palette to work with. Good for you.
I'm just wanting to do it LIVE. Dynamically. In 2013. In Illustrator.
Is there any freaking way I can change the background to be solid each time I start or reset 3ds max without having to create a maxstart.max file?
Because each time I switch project folders I lose my maxstart.max and the ugly gradient comes back again. I don't need it and I don't want it.
I have seen photos where the background is black. Is it possible to do this with Photo Pro X3 Ultimate? If so, how? I'm retired (read as "older" and not as sharp as a younger person) and new at digital photography.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was working on some modifications to a previous drawing and needed to change the face color on multiple faces, about 40 of them... After using the command on a couple of them, I decided that an improvement is required or I'm not understanding how to pick multiple items with the same stroke of the command. What I'm asking is, is there a way to pick multiple faces to change multiple face color in just a few strokes or can a custom lisp file be created to speed this process up?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThere are instances where we need to add an extrusion in an assembly (.iam) to show labeling that needs to be done on the floor during assembly.
So we do a new sketch to the face where we need to add the "label", we use text and extrude it 0.001" deep (cut).
On the drawing (.idw) you can see it no problem, but in the model (.iam) itself it's hard to see since the faces that result from the extrusion are the same color as the participant part.
My question is this: Is it possible to change the color of the face of the extrusion?
It's not super important but it would be a good thing to show that detail as we sometimes print a color version of the 3D view for prototyping, troubleshooting, etc.

View 3 Replies View Relatedreally simple this but I want to change the colour of some blocks. There are already some of this block in the drawing, but I am adding additional ones and want these to show up by changing the colour to red.
The blocks have been created in Layer 0, and inserted on another layer. When I highlight the blocks in question I can change the colour to Red, but even though the ribbon says otherwise they are still appearing in the original colour.
Couple days ago something crashed in autoCAD, and now when i select more lines or objects - i cant change colour in properties:
1) If i select one line --- still in properties is showing By Layer (colour)
2) If i select more line --- this window where was By layer --- is not active anymore and i cant cahenge anything.
I made 2 pictures - to understand better.
I have a dwg that I need to change the colour of certain areas, they are a mix of blocks and blocks with attributes, if I explode them all the attributes turn into text I have tried a few ways but apart from clicking on everything and doing it one by one I cant seem to do it, is there a quicker way,I have attached the dwg and everything outside of the magenta box needs to be grey while keeping the colour under the box. The file is 5.5 mb and wont upload

I made a region of a wedge and I thought I made it the right angle. It turns out - it's not.
I've attached a similar file that exhibits the same problem. Except with regard to the specific requirement for the angle, the attached file pretty much representative of my problem, as it exists in the actual file. It's the angle going back to the wall that needs to be changed.
It's unioned. and feel free to imagine the angle is not correct. How would you change it.
