View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I go about restoring, repairing or fixing the default materials and appearances that come installed with Inventor Pro 2013? I have a stand-alone single seat installation. SP 1.1 has been installed.
I tried to create a custom library of materials and appearances by making a copy of InventorMaterialLibrary.adsklib and renaming it. I then added new materials. Depending on project, I get nag messages regarding template styles in conflict with the library styles. I'm also getting message warning me that the InventorMaterialLibrary can't get loaded.
It is my intent to create a custom materials and appearances library that mimics the as installed InventorMaterialLibrary plus some additional materials and appearances. The custom library and appearances need to be available to all NEW projects and MAY be added to existing projects without getting the nag message about style conflicts.
I'm also seeing a behavior where the default appearance changes from standard light gray to the first appearance listed in the Autodesk Appearance Library, the 1.5 inch blue tile. I suspect that's the reason I'm getting the nag message. How do I fix this? How do I prevent this from happening in the future?
1) Restoring default as installed material and appearance libraries
2) Creating a custom materials and appearance library to contains ALL items found in the InventorMaterialLibrary plus new materials and appearances
3) Preventing nag style conflict messages
4) Preventing the default appearance of light gray to change to the 1.5 inch blue tile
The machine I'm currently using needs to be ready to go in the morning.

Is there a way to get the default wall/roof/floor materials to appear transparent?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a property or method that can control the location of the name for a detail view? For example the picture below. Detail "B" represents the api default. Detail "C" representes where I want to put the text. All the properties, aside from "Name" apparently deal with the detail view itself.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having some difficulty using the XREF/Block insertion using 'Locate using Geographic Data'. This does not seem to locate anything using Geographic Info. I have found a large discrepancy with this process in the order of 100's of meters. I am using SA-17S (dwg 1) in my drawing and WGS84-17S (dwg 2) in the drawing I want to insert.
When I attach dwg 2 to dwg 1 and set the coordinate systems using the assign coordinate system and query in data, everything matched and is coincidental, but when I insert or XREF using the 'Locate using Geographic Data', there is an enormous error.
I have tried to use intersectwith to locate text (MText or DBText) near a block reference. Some times it works and some times it does not. The hard part for me is understanding why it occasionally works when most examples are just duplicates with modified text and attributes.
My block reference has 4 attributes to the left (Right Justified) of a circle and 2 attributes inside the circle. The text objects are used by some CAD operators instead of the upper 2 lines of attributtes. (Guess they dont know how to modify attributes) I want to locate these texts and insert text into the corresponding attribute.
Block Reference:
Att 1 |'''''''| <-- CAD User will insert a txt over Att 1 and Att 2,
Att 2 | | <-- both attributes are usally left blank or contain a space
Att 3 | |
Att 4 |.....|

I was working in model space and when I hit zoom extents, I lost all of my drawings in model space. They must be there because I can see them in layout, but I am not able to locate them in model. For some reason my cross hairs and the ability to draft have disappeared too. I am sure I must have hit a setting that needs to be changed back.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy colleague that is on holidays right now sent some civil 3d drawings that contain data references to another office and they are having broken reference issues with the surfaces. I opened the drawing in our office and the surfaces are there and showing the data ref symbols in prospector but when i look through the data shortcuts folder below in prospector the surfaces are not there.
how do i locate the .xml files or if they have been deleted how do these surfaces appear in my drawing.
After looking thru the api, i'm finding it hard to get a list of orphaned dimensions.
I can get a list of all the dimensions...easy.
I've basically deleted a part from the assembly and now want to remove that dimension in a section view on the drawing document.
But looking / comparing the properties of a non-orphaned vs an orphaned shows nothing.
Is there an orphaned list?
Is there a color override switch somewhere?
Or can I somehow get the object that the dimension is trying to reference and check to see if it is valid or has a valid file reference...or something?
Using Inventor 2012 SP2
Have been using Inventor for 6 months or so after being on Solidowrks for many years.
With the settings I have from the start I have been avoiding using adaptivity because it causes more problems than it seems to fix. Just ran into this problem a few minutes ago.
Basic rect angle iron frame, put holes in them for fasteners. Created the cover and constrained it to the frame assembly. Used project geometry to locate all the holes in the frame onto the cover. Use the "Hole" feature and everything is good with the world.
Then changed the side pc of the frame, shortened it by 1.25 inches. Would not update until I deleted the cover and the fasteners. Even then I had to go thru all the constraints I used, edit them back to the number I had used. Once I did all that the frame was the correct size.
I must be missing something serious, it has to be easier than this to use adaptive parts.
I am trying to locate a .wdp file with minimal user input. this is what I have so far
;All file saved in this folder
(setq filedir "I://PROJECTS//")
;User will put the following in, but there might be a small description after 915-01. That is why I have a wildcard
(setq filename (strcat "915-01*"))
; string together everything
(setq nextlevel (strcat filedir "JOB " filename "*" "//ACAD"))
;; the final path should look something like this:
I://Projects// JOB 915-01(something here... could be anything or nothing)//ACAD//915-01(something else could be here as well).wdp
;set file extension
(setq fileext ".wdp")
; search files
(setq wdp_file (vl-directory-files nextlevel (strcat filename "*" fileext)))
I am confused on where and when I can use wildcards for searching directories.

How do I locate and action that I created in CS5, so I can load it into CS6?
I am running CS5 and 6 using Mac OSX Snow Leopard.
I created two actions, but am now not sure where they reside, to load them into CS6
my inverse select keystroke no longer works (shift+ctrl+i), from the menu it works fine though.
Is there some preference somewhere that I may have changed somehow, this is with PS7, no updates.
This has been driving me crazy since the new CS3 version came out. In the old days when I wanted to find the layer my element was on, I'd ctrl-click it (PC) and bang, that layer would be active. One of the most useful shortcuts ever invented...
Which is why Adobe had to go and screw with it. Now all that does is give you the folder, which is useless to me - I often will have 30-40 folders, those having many subfolders and many layers.
The lame replacement I have seen is "oh, click the palette icon of the layer" - which makes NO sense because *I don't know what the layer is* - that's the info I am trying to find out!
We are using AD and network smb/cifs home folders and when you create a new document in Illustrator CS6 an error message appears "can't locate startup profiles". try after installin illustrator again". I can look in the folder at ~Library/Application support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS6/en_GB/New Document Profiles , and it is empty. I can replace the folder with a known working one and all is OK. This only happens with network home folders. If I create a local user and launch Illustrator then everything works as expected and there is no error message.
