Lightroom occasionally displays a dialog indicating it can't find the default catalog when starting, yet when I choose the default catalog in the dialog it opens as expected.
During importing specifically "Moving" a selection of pictures from one location on internal drive to another location on internal drive, after I tagged the pictures with keywords, Lightroom crashed.
Now when I go to Previous import the pictures are not found. Neither are the files in the location I move them to. When I do a search for the images with the keywords I tagged those images with, I can't locate them. I don't see them in the Trash either.
Now, I have no idea where those images are. This is very bad. I guess I'll have to use Finder to move the images first then "Add" them to Lightroom afterwards. It's a good thing I was paying attention when I did the import.
I have Lightroom 3 and just this morning noticed that all of the preloaded lens profiles are missing. I've been using the program for 3 years now and they've always been there previously. The only one available is SIGMA. I have a Canon, so all of those are gone. At the bottom of the box in "Develop" it says "Unable to locate a matching profile automatically."
I am running on Windows and tried repairing, but it seems to be missing the installation file that it needs. Is there a way to download and install the profiles for just the lenses I have? Or, do I need to completely re-install? If that's the case, will all of my libraries stay in tact?
I was in the process of moving a folder inside or LR. I might have clicked and moved it twice since it was very slow. LR wasn't able to complete the move and gave me an error message. After I clicked "OK" on the error message, I wasn't able to find my folder/images from the old or new location. I did a spotlight search on my mac, but I wasn't able to find them anywhere. Where has my folder/images gone? I tried to locate them without any success.
I am upgrading to PSE 12 from V9. Version 12 does not locate/recognize my catalog from version 9. In version 9, it states that it is using catalog 3 (current). How to I get V12 to locate and import my version 9 catalog.
when I go to quit LR and backup the catalog I am getting a message that reads "Lightroom was unable to back up the catalog named .... Please check your folder permissions, and make sure that you have available space on your backup drive and main catalog's drive." I backed up the catalog as recently as 11/12 (it is 11/16) without incident, as I have been doing for my catalog for many years. The drive to which I back up and which has the main catalog has sufficient space to backup. Folder permissions all seem to be in order. I have tried to backup on 3 different drives and get the same message each time. I have a Mac Pro Tower running OS 10.7.5. I am using LR 4.4.
I installed my upgrade to LR5 last night but it keeps giving me an error when I try to upgrade my LR4 catalog. It goes through the initial steps, stays at "preparing new searchable data" for a long time, then eventually stops and pops up the error message: "Unable to upgrade catalog. Lightroom encountered problems when trying to update the format of the catalog file and cannot use this catalog in this version of Lightroom". I tried upgrading a smaller catalog that I don't use anymore and it worked fine. how I can get this catalog converted? Its my main catalog with all of my current years' images. For the time being LR 4 is working fine but I'd love to get 5 up and running.
When I run the backup command when exiting LIghtroom 4.2 I get an error that Lightroom was unable to back up my catalog. I have tried many options if unchecking the optomize and and test integrity. And different backup loctions on different drives. I have searched for this issuse and I do not seem to be finding an answer that will solve my problem. I am using a iMac.
For some reason I am no longer able to backup my LR catalog. I have folders in two separate external hard drives but when I attempt backup I get a message: "Lightroom was unable to backup the catalog named Lightroom 4 Catalog. Please check folder permissions...." Could it be that the catalog has become too large as I have well over 200,000 images in it? I don't understand what "folder permissions" I need to check.
I have an issue where videos aren’t importing into my catalog, but the videos play fine on the machine. Forums suggest that there might be an issue with the video cache, and some threads suggest I try to purge the cache. I go to Preferences > File Handling > Video Cache Settings > Purge Cache, and I get the dialog:
The Video cache is being purged. This message with be dismissed when the purge is finished.
I’ve let that message appear for 24+ hours, and it still doesn’t go away.
My questions: Where videos don’t import? How to manually purge the video cache through some other method than the Preferences UI? .
Since this morning, I'm unable to import photos or create a new catalog in LR 4.2 on Mac OS X 10.8.2. When I choose "File -> Import Photo or Video" nothing happens. The same happens when I choose "Create new catalog". Also when I insert a CF card into my cardreader, there is no import dialog popping up.
I have updated to 4.2 a while ago but never tried to import new photos so I wasn't aware of that issue.
I tried to reinstall LR and I also optimized the catalog but that did not solve the problem either.
My external hard drive recently crashed and now I am trying to restore my Lightroom catalogs. When I try to open the most recent back-up, I keep getting a message stating the catalog is too new for the current version of Lightroom. I have not done anything to my most recent version of LR.
I merged a small catalog with my master catalog and I am unable to open the master catalog. The error message reads "The Lightroom catalog named “master_catalog-2” cannot be opened because another application already has it opened.". There are no other applications running the catalog.
I have to make a couple of changes to a piece I edited 2 months ago on Premiere CC. When I open the file premiere lists out several clips that it says are missing. I've hit "locate" but nothing comes up.
Using LR4 (not 4.1) and Win7 Home Premium. Catalog had been upgraded from LR3 and LR4 catalog was working fine until now. I've been using LR since the beginning. Two problems, probably related. 106K photos over two drives, almost 3Tb.
At the catalog level, there are no previews. Normally previews of all 106K photos would be displayed. Message is "Click the "import" button to begin." Filter function does not work Message: "No photos match the filter".At the drive level, there are no previews. Message is "No photos in selected folder" Filter function does not work Message: "No photos match the filter". At the folder level, everything is fine, except two folders give the same message "No photos in selected folder" Filter function does not work in these two folders: Message: "No photos match the filter" 14K photos between the two bad folders. Dozens, hundreds, of other folders and subfolders are fine. Filter function works fine at folder and subfolder level. Collections are fine, including photos in the two folders giving the mesage "No photos in selected folder"
Tried to import the missing folders. Won't import because they're already in the catalog. Won't import even if I uncheck "Don't import suspected duplicates". Exported as a catalog one of the "No photos in selected folder" folders. It appeared to create a viable catalog with previews, search filters, etc. I edited a few photos with no problems. Although it did give a message saying several hundred previews were missing. But they seem to be there anyway.Deleted the folder from the catalog and imported from catalog the working folder catalog that I just created. Exported as a catalog the other "No photos in selected folder" folder. Same result as the first bad folder. I.e. It appeared to create a viable catalog with previews, search filters, etc. Although it did give a message saying several hundred previews were missing. But they seem to be there anyway. Haven't done anything with this second folder catalog. Intriguing, the same message about missing previews. The actual files and *.xmp files are in the bad folders.
Everytime I start CS5 Photoshop I receive an error that states - "The procedure entry point sqlite3_trace could not be located in the dynamic link library sqlite.dll".
I then get a message that Suitcase Fusion 4 is unable to start and auto font activation is turned off.I am using XP Pro SP3. how to reslove this issue.
I get the following message almost, but not every, time that I start Photoshop.
b This application has failed to start because vfzcore.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I have tried reinstalling Photoshop. But this does not help. I often also get a windows error after photoshop is closed saying that it did not shut down properly.
I suspect that the vfzcore.dll error is due to some 3rd party plug-in. But does anyone have any ideas? These error do not appear to affect the performance of photoshop that I can tell. Everything that I use works fine and it never bombs off (except after closing the program out). But having to hit "OK" at the error dialog every time the program starts up is annoying.
When I open Photoshop 7.0 this error pops up. "Photoshop.exe-Unable To Locate Component. This application has failed to start because M2000Twn.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I have tried re-installing but get the same error.
I have been getting an error message when trying to start Gimp. It says that libgmodule -2.0-0.dll is missing and that reinstalling Gimp might solve this problem. I have uninstalled then reinstalled Gimp two times and still keep getting this error and I'm not sure what is causing it to occur.
I downloaded the newest version of Paint.net and can't locate the color wheel. On the previous edition it was located on the bottom left corner of the page. Where do I find it?
I want to eject my external hard drive from my laptop. I have my "master catalog" stored on their due to small internal hard drive. When I close all programs and I try to eject drive it says that a program is still using it. I am assuming that this is lightroom because the problem did not previously exist before I installed lightroom. (running windows 8, lightroom 5)
I created an album, and then a slide show containing almost 200 slides. I was sure to save and name it; now I can't find it. When I open Photoshop Elements 9 there are no menu items,( i,e, File, View, Edit) across the top, so I see no way to "Open Saved Project". I can see the album listed on the right, and can access the original photos from there, but I can't find the slide show.
I need to modify a curtain wall mullion profile and a plumbing fixture for a model created by another firm. I see the family (e.g Rectangular Mullion) on the project browser window, but I cannot locate the actual rfa file.
For the the Plumbing fixture, I can click on the fixture, and select "edit family", but it saves a new family instead of telling me where the orginal rfa is located.
Obviously, since the model is from another firm, the rfa file is not located on the server where our firm typically stores family files. It's not on the C:// Program Data/ Autodesk/ RAC2011/ Imperial Library...
I am unable to locate the artistic filter called "poster edges". According to the online info on PSE 10, I should be able to find "poster edges" by going to editor, effects, filters, artistic and under artistic the POSTER EDGES should be there. All are there EXCEPT poster edges.
I did a family session and had the family decide on 54 images they liked that I would edit and I placed them into a collection and editted them well I created a folder in my pictures portion of my computer to place the editted version and now lightroom is stating that the image cannot be found and I tried relocating them to direct them to where they live in the computer file but it states that there are other pictures similar would you like to view this and I hit open but nothing happens so I am extremly worried I have lost these images I dont have backup that exist..
I don't want to have the original files on both laptop and desktop.
I want to make a copy of a Lightroom 3 catalog to put on my laptop so while on the move I can be geo-tagging and keywording to 8000 photographs. I don't want to drag an external drive with me. I just want to be able to work on the catalog metadata and have all the updates/changes stored there (on the laptop)(in the catalog) and then transfer the catalog back to the desktop (to the primary archive) and have all the updates/changes pushed back into the DNG's or the XMP sidecar files alongside the CR2's. These changes would be only keywording and possibly writing GPS data into them….NOT image edits (that would probally require access to the original image files)
As a test, I tried "exporting as catalog", TWO images (with the source images "unavailable"). I flash-drived the resulting catalog to my laptop. I opened the catalog in LR3 and made changes to the metadata. I tried both "saving metadata to file" and "updating DNG previews" (which would be useless anyway since I could not write data back to the missing originals) and also tried doing nothing and just closing LR, then pulling the flashdrive and plugging it into the DESKTOP.(knowing the changes are stored within the catalog itself only) I open the 2 picture catalog in LR and see the keyword updates. Hurrah!
I switch over to the master catalog. All I want to do is import the updated metadata (keywording, contrast, etc…) back into the master catalog and push the data into the original DNG or XMP. On import I select "replace: Metadata and develop settings only" (with or without "preserve old settings" checked) and click import. Voila! NOTHING HAPPENS and the updated keywords are NOT picked up.
I know that the metadata updates were carried out because they showed up when I opened it separately in LR! For some reason they don't seem to making through the import process to the master catalog…
I will be managing a small portion of a client's overall image workflow by updating their web prescence on a regular basis with new work and retagging/uploading old work. I believe this requires the catalog and the image library to be housed on an external hard drive that can travel between the two of us. We are both working on PC's with LR 5.3.
The workflow would look something like this:
Client downloads new images onto external hard drive and imports into LR "ClientCatalog" is created Flags Picks and Creates a Collection from those Picks.Hard drive is handed off to me where I open "ClientCatalog".Make suggested edits to images add detailed tags and metadata upload to various social media sites and websites return hard drive to client
Is there potential problem with this workflow? My assumption is that if everything is housed on the external hard drive then there are no worries about the catalog containing all the latest updates. Are there any "safety protocols" you would add in to this workflow (besides mirroring everythign on another hard drive)?
I'm using Lightroom 1. I tried to merge catalogs by importing a catalog into a master catalog, but there were some problems. The one I noticed immediately was that the collections are not correct. It imported the collections, but for example one collection now has only 4 photos when the originbal had 140? How can I fix that? (Although not necessariy a problem, it seems to have the wrong number of photos imported too. It says the previous import was 3175 photos when it was more like 10,000.)
