Im trying to download the blurb plug in and at the set up stage it asks me to locate the Application File for my Adobe InDesign CS5 in my files but i cant locate it how i can locate it?
View 19 RepliesI made a dumb mistake when I first started using LR and I thought files once downloaded into the catalogue were saved and accessible. I removed the files from bridge and now I cannot open them in my catalog. My photos will show up in LR, but the message says "cannot open because cannot locate original file"
I can SEE them, I just can't do anything with them. Is there anyway to recover these files?
i have lots of images on cd. i have tried to import the images from CD. the images are in the catalog. But light room did not save the full image. maybe only a thumb nail and a pointer to the address location of the file. it can not find the file since it knows that it was imported from a cd.

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy colleague that is on holidays right now sent some civil 3d drawings that contain data references to another office and they are having broken reference issues with the surfaces. I opened the drawing in our office and the surfaces are there and showing the data ref symbols in prospector but when i look through the data shortcuts folder below in prospector the surfaces are not there.
how do i locate the .xml files or if they have been deleted how do these surfaces appear in my drawing.

I am confused on where and when I can use wildcards for searching directories.
I have imported an OAM file into the first page of an app I am making in InDesign. The OAM looks correct on load but once the animation begins it gets really big and all I see is a tiny portion of the animation.
I have other text and graphics on that page I was wondering if that could be the cause.
Is there a non-buggy way to convert an Indesign file into a word file?

Some files must have gotten corrupted because I can't open the program without reintalling. It says, "Some of the application components are missing from the application directory. I have an architects drawing that was sent to me as a DWG and I am trying to save it as a R12 DXF for uploading to a pocketGIS application on a PDA.
When I try to save the file I get an pop up message that reads "This drawing contains custom objects that are not supported in previous versions. These objects cannot be saved to a previous version etc. etc." When I close this message the drawing saves anyway. However when I try to open it as a DXF in Autocad 2010 I get the following error message "Unloadable shape/text file
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded." and needless to say I am unable to load it on the PDA.
Just upgraded to CS6 and get this error frequently. This is a major problem for me because linked files and document management are essential to my business.

How to correct this
I installed a clean, fresh version on my Mac. (No previous versions were ever installed). When I open Photoshop for the first time, everything runs fine: I can open files and edit as usual. As soon as I close it and re-open many things happen:
a) I can go to open a file, but with Window>Application Frame unchecked, I cannot see the open file.
b) All other palletes go awry. I cannot change the open palletes and or edit anything.
c) If I check Window>Application Frame, everything is back to normal. No problems here.
I have Corel VideoStudio X6 and am experiencing a relink problem. I moved all my media (pics and vid) from c:HomeMediaFiles to d:MediaFiles. I open VS and relink to the new location.
I noticed it didn't relink properly, I have videos with the same name in different directories. In the end it linked to the incorrect video.So, here's my question:
Is there a master file the VideoStudio application uses to reference video locations? I would assume it’s the library and I was hoping I could possibly open the file (with notepad or something) 'find and replace' c:HomeMediaFiles to d:MediaFiles and avoid the relinking through the interface.
I reloaded my library so I still have everything with the old references after I tried to relink through the UI. Good thing I backup regularly.
After setting the Application Options-File tab paths to our company standard and manually restarting IV the paths all revert to "%PUBLIC DOCUMENTS % default paths. Our IT guy is having the hardest time tracking down the root cause, Both users are on stand alone licenses.
1. Where does IV pick up these default file paths? Can I modify that .xml manually as a workaround?
2. How to identify the folders to look for that don't have adequate red-write permissions?

Client creates a layer state in the furniture plan to show only what the client needs to see once the drawing is in the space management application.
DOES BRINGING IN THE BASE PLAN AS AN XREF AFFECT THIS LAYER STATE?
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT PATH TYPE TO CHOOSE (FULL, RELATIVE or NO) WHEN I GO TO INSERT THE XTREF?
WHAT IS THE DIFFERECEN BETWEEN ATTACH and OVERLAY?
After editing a photo in an external application, only the original raw file can be seen. The edited photo is hidden, even when searched for by name.
I have been reduced to the following workaround, which has the drawback of deleting all the original raw (.cr2) edits: Edit the photo; edit in external application; save and close. Back in lightroom, delete the raw file (from lightroom only); then close lightroom, reopen it and then at last I can see my edited file. Then I have to re-import the raw file and of course the edits have disappeared. But at least the final result can be seen.
The photos are supposed to be in a stack, but there appears to be a bug in this function because you can only ever see the raw file.
My computer's power source failed and turned off while an Indesign CS5.5 file is open. Now trying to access the file, my computer (a mac) thinks it's still open. I'd like to either "close" down the file my computer thinks is open or delete the file (I have good copy on an external hard drive).
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to package out a file in InDesign its gets about 3/4s of the way through and then shows the "Cannot copy necessary font(s)" dialog box. I have read on certain discussions it may be a font issue. When I remove ALL fonts from my computer font library and use only preset Adobe fonts, Arial Regular for example, it works fine, then as soon as I use a font say, Helvetica Neue Light, I get the error. I have only recently upgraded to CC and all of the existing fonts in my library have always worked fine and never been a problem when packaging... However due to the tests with different fonts, it seems to be a font issue and not a links/filename issue like other people have had.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter converting footnotes to endnotes by means of PK's script the purpose is to replace notes in one language by another. It is a long document (600 endnotes).
Replacing the original endnotes (spanish) with the new file (english) destroys the original hyperlinks (superscript) references in the endnotes.
The new file that will replace the old endnotes is already isolated (and may be numbered) and has the same quantity.Could not insert sequenced hyperlinks codes or replace.
Is it possible to keep the original .inx file name, when saving it back as indd from an older Indesign version? Elaborating… i save an inx file from IndesignCS3 that is named george.inx, then i open that file in IndesignCS2, when i save that file from CS2 as indd it doesn't keep the name "george", its named untitled. Is there a way to keep the original name?

I have been trying to export an interactive PDF file using InDesign CS6. It exports fine, and all the content works except for the Folio Overlays I created. I created two Folio Overlays (one Pan & Zoom and one Scrollable Frame). The overlays work if I preview them from the Folio Overlays panel, but they do not work on the PDF document.
I am using File >> Export... to create the PDF document, and I am sure the PDF document is of the interactive type and not the print type. Am I exporting it incorrectly? Is there a specific step that I have missed somewhere? Do I need to create a Folio Build to make the Folio Overlays work?
When I mouse over the Folio Overlays, I get the crosshair cursor which only selects part of the image when I click and drag it.
