AutoCad 3D :: Explode Object To Edit Each Component Of It
May 11, 2012
1. Im going to learn 3D now, but when i change my autoCAD 2007 into 3D workspace , it didnt give me the 3d modelspace , but give me the common 2d modelspace, how do i change this?
2. Can i explode the 3d object so i can edit each component of it, for example i have a ball? is that thing called wiremesh?
Is there a way to explode a Component Pattern? I would like to create a 12 x 12 Component Pattern in an IAM and then explode it so that I have 144 individual objects.
I have a block of a survey from an outside company which was sent as a block.I am guessing that when it was creating, they un-checked the box that allows it to be exploded.
I would like to edit the block, and without being able to explode it, I have to go into the block editor to do so.Is there a way in block manager to change it so that I can explode the block?
I would like explode a block which still maintain all sub blocks' XDatamyBlockRef.ExplodeToOwnerSpace() The above code does the job. However I can not get the exploded collection
Use the following code I can get object collection but there is no XData for each sub block.
Dim colAssemblyEnt As DBObjectCollection = New DBObjectCollection() myBlockRef.Explode(colAssemblyEnt)
My question is how can I get the sub block collection with each block's XData?
I've just upgraded from 2011 to 2013 and come across this problem.
In 2011 I could edit a component from the top level anywhere in the tree - i.e. From an iLogic rule in the top level, I could edit a component in a subassembly.
This doesn't seem to work in 2013 - I can only edit the first child of a component.
I build a program to "*.dll" by Visual Basic 6.0+AutoCad2006,when it runs in Cad VBA Environment,if it gets error,I try to get start again,It shows message:"Rutime Error 429:ActiveX Component Can't Create Object",and then message "440:Automation error".But sometimes,it works all right.Thats troubled me for a long time,I can't find a reason, so can't improve my program.
We are having an issue when we replace a component in Inventor Pro 2012. When we replace a component, the name in the browser does not update to the new component. We've even tried to close and re-open the Inventor assembly and that does not work. We end up manual double clicking the name in the browser and type in the new component name.

II need a way to tell if a component occurence is a virtual component.
I'm using a For Each loop to cycle through all of the components in an assembly, and if the component is itself an assembly to set the LOD to "Custom". I'm using the definition document descriptor object for this. It all woks fine until the loop comes across a virtual component which doesn't have a definition document, so I need a way to check if the component is virtual and needs to be skipped. Here's the
Option ExplicitImports Inventor.LevelOfDetailEnumSub MainiLogicVb.UpdateWhenDone = TrueDim doc As AssemblyDocumentDim oLOD As LevelOfDetailRepresentationDim oAsmCompDef As ComponentDefinitionDim oComp As ComponentOccurrenceDim oComps As ComponentOccurrencesdoc = ThisDoc.DocumentIf. [code]....
I've been using Maya for over a year and I've starting seeing some weird error. In edit mode, I select a couple of verts. I can transform, rotate, and scale the verts relative to the selection's center. However, recently whenever I want to scale my selected verts the scaling origin goes to the center of the object instead of the selection. This becomes somewhat irritating since it doesn't give the expected results. I've included a few pictures demonstrating my problem.
I am trying to make port rims for pipes that can be swapped in and out of an assembly. However, the ports will all be different sizes and located differently so I need the cut to be part of the port rim component, but affect the entire assembly it is part of. I've been trying to get this to work for the better part of a day now,Here's a picture of what im talking about. I'm running Inventor 2008 by the way.
I want to be able to edit the object through the viewport, but NOT change the object in ALL the other viewports as well. In other words, I want to INDIVIDUALLY/EXCLUSIVELY edit the object of each viewport (i.e. in my A, B, C, D, E, windows in the image) without affecting the rest of the others.
My Acad experience is very old-school, and I have been away from true Autocad for a number of years.
I have been attempting to edit the properties of objects in the block editor and ran into a problem.
+ I select an object. + Right-click and choose Properties. + A list of properties is displayed, but they are not for the object I am trying to edit.
I did a test by selecting the object and using the command prompt, used the CHPROP command to change the objects color. It did change color as expected.
However, when I used the right-click/properties method, the properties shown do not show the new color. So, I suspect that my right-click/properties method is not showing me the object's properties. But, rather the default properties when any new objects are created.
So, obviously right-clicking is not the way to get there. What am I missing?
I am using Inventor 2013, with the stl importer plugin also installed. I have had a objected scanned and the scan is been given to me in STL file.
As you may know that once something is scanned, it becomes a mesh object with many triangle faces. This is more evident on curved parts of the object.
Is there any way to smooth the surface so the curves do no look like very small step trying to form a curve? If the surface does not become smoothed out so its seen as one surface then I will have to adjust every small face at a time?
I've tried to import a dwg file that was created by someone else but I'm having a hard time editing it. I can scale it and move it and things like that, but if i wish to change the height. I tried scaling it, but it messes up the object. The object I am trying to shorten is a measuring rack on this site [URL].......
I can't change the objects height. Perhaps it's because it's a block reference or something. I've tried editing the block itself, but i have no luck in trying to edit the height. I cant splice it either.
I've attached the file im trying to change the height of.
I have load schedule drawing with OLE object (as excel image with out any link) . I want to make some changes in this load schedules. so what should I do to make the changes as I want.
Is there a function in AutoCAD that lets you edit the dimensions of an existing object on fly like there is in Vectorworks.I have included an attachment of a vectorworks screen dump to explain what I'm asking. In the screen dump you can see a Rectangle is already drawn with the measurements of 1800,900 mm. This can be changed in Vectorworks via the dimension property box on the right hand side. Can this sort of thing be performed in AutoCAD?
we use Civil 3D as a design tool, and sometimes in the finished (plotted) product. We use STB (named) plot styles and layer settings to control object display.
I have a situation where I have received a drawing that is populated with Civil 3D styles already. However, in the Display tab, all the object Plot Styles are set to ByBlock. That does not seem to work properly with .STB plot style management, because the individual objects (contours, points, etc.) pick up the plot styles of their parent objects. So instead of a contour on layer V-TOPO-MAJR plotting with the layer settings of V-TOPO-MAJR, it follows the layer settings of C-TOPO, which is the layer containing the parent surface.
Is there a way to programmatically step through styles for surfaces, profile views, etc. and change the "ByBlock" setting to "ByLayer" in all styles?
I was told to double click the layers window and a new editable window would pop up...but only the FX window pops up. I've also tried the "edit Content" choice but that erases the smart object..
I have an image I copied straight out of a Powerpoint and into a new CS5.5 file. I select the white background and try to delete it, though I am told that I cant because the Smart Object is not directly editable. How do I set this file up so I can edit and delete the background?
I made a staircase rail made out of splines etc...
Converted the object to edit poly and duplicated + attached all the piece.
So I have this one object that is really long and this is the rail of the whole staircase.
Now I created a spline and once I select the object and add a Path Deform, the object isn't rotating correctly along the spline. At the beginning of the spline its @ 90 degrees and further down it starts to spin.
How do I make it so it's always 90 degrees to the ground?
I have 3 objects A, B, C, I group them together, apply a drop shadow. Now, let's say I need to resize or reposition one of them, I'm unable to select the particular object.
It's suppose to work with Alt+Ctrl+Click, but it doesn't.I always end up with editing the drop shadow rather than selecting the object. It's very trouble some needing to discard the drop shadow, make the changes, and re-apply the drop shadow.
I need to change the color of the M and [R] in this text, allow me to set the stage.
To create this symbol you type the Letter M, change the font to our companys symbol text and the following characters then follow. However when editing the text it is recognized as a single character. I have changed the text to outlines, however it still changes every letter when I change the color. I have went into isolation mode and it still changes every color.
I'm looking for a way to explode a dimension. I've tried using the Explode() method, but it just results in an eInvalidInput error. Is there a way to explode a dimension into objects?
The reason for this is that I'm using Autocad Architecture and I'm auto-labeling and dimensioning some items I am inserting into the drawing, however the 2d elevation drawing tool in Architecture automatically ignores text and dimensions, so I need a way to explode these into lines so they will show up in the 2d elevation drawings.
Is there a way to edit the transparency of a dimensioned object? I have many complex objects and sub-objects with transparency fills and all individual parts dynamically dimensioned. I find I cannot edit the transparency of any part that has a dimension. Surely there must be a way to do this...?
My dimensions are color-matched to the fill parts, and the text dimensions and dimension lines are different sizes and weights making it very time-consuming to delete, edit transparency, and then recreate the dimension with all the desired properties.
