AutoCad 3D :: Any Way To Roll Geometry
Jul 11, 2011Is there a way to roll geometry? Much like in a real life scenario where I have a sheet plate part that needs to be run through a roller?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe need to print a drawing on an A2 paper roll but the drawing is cut off at the length of an A1 or A2 page. How do you set it up so the full length of the roll can be used?
At the moment the roll cuts off at 841mm in length when set to A1. How do you configure it to use more length of the roll so it doesn't cut off the drawing?
I have several drawings and which have different scales (1:50, 1:20 and 1:10) all in one dwg file. I made different .ctb files for each of them to make easier to interchange drawings between two different scales. But now I'm plotting each of them onto seperated rolls. I wonder if there is a way to plot all of them onto just one roll?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have to make a roll of tape in Inventor, but I'm not too familiar with/used to the program. It's the small invisible adhesive tape, like the kind you'd find in office. So far, I sketched and extruded the plastic part the tape gets wrapped around, which is basically just a small tube. I also have a rectangle that's really long for the actual tape part, and that's extruded but very thin. they're both made as standard.ipt files. I opened a standard.iam file to put them together using constraints, but I'm not exactly sure how. I have the edge of the rectangle on the outside of the circle, so I just have to wrap it around. I'm assuming I just bend the rectangle (tape) around the circle (plastic part), but I don't know how to do that.

Wonder how do i draw the flexible sheet, actually i have many cylindrical rolls placed at different locations - all i want is a thin sheet to be passed onto each of those drums. Just like belt and pulley, but here sheet and a drum. Its very difficult to calculate dimensions and constrain, instead am wondering how do i create a flexible sheet of fixed length and constrain it so that they rest on top of the drums.

When I select an object and roll over to the Properties Pallette it simply starts to blink and does not open. Also, the Quick Properties panel will not open. Background, the new file I am working on was last saved on my laptop and transfered via a thumb drive. I have done this often with out a problem. However, the laptop is a new one with Windows 7 and my desktop has Windows XP.

The problem starts with the contour roll. Surpressing this contour roll feature (and dependent featured flange) results in a OK flat pattern.

I've been having some issues recently with Sheet Metal parts. I am attempting to make a part that looks like this:
The only way I have been able to do this so far is by doing a contour roll to get the rounded part and then add the flanges on as part of an assembly.
I have attempted to do it as one Sheet Metal piece but I continually run into the problem where I cannot refold the part once I have the flanges.
Here are the steps I have gone through:
1. Created a contour roll to the necessary angle to get my desired dimensions
2. Unfolded the roll
3. Created my hole pattern
4. Folded back the flanges
This is where I got stuck. I attempted to refold the part between the bends but it will not let me do this. If I have one flange, I am able to refold but not when I have 2.
Another problem I have encountered is when I get one flange done, the thickness of it is larger than the rest of the part.

I can not find this in the CUI.
Inventor is awesome, quick to learn but sometime i get really blocked..Makes 2 hours i am trying everything to recreate a sheet of paper (a4) bended like a cone that isn t perfectly round but with the bottom flat.
I have attached a photo of what i am trying to create.I have tried to make it with using a triangle isosceles as the bottom and curve a sheet of metal using the "contour roll" between the 2 isocele sides.
We have a T790 44in, with 42" roll paper installed.
The thing I'm having trouble with, is getting it to act like it has roll paper. I can set custom paper sizes in the printer drives all day (such as 42" x 42") but this is only half way accurate, and can waste a lot of paper.
Is there a particular way to set the printer to use the roll paper?
I need to be able to roll back my variables if user apply an UNDO. Let's say.
Myinteger =1
Startstransaction
........
trans commint
Myinteger=2
Startstransaction
.......
trans commint
Myinteger=3
if user does undo 2 times the Variable Myinteger keep the value 3 . I want it back to 1. How?

The part is a short length of square hollow section from which I am trying to apply the roll to, there seems to be a problem in projecting the geometry on the end of the part

Inventor 2013-I'm working on a sheet metal cover using contour roll and I find when I dimension the flat pattern that radii that should be the same are not. Can my approach is fundamentally flawed? I tried making this part out of one 220 degree contour roll and I found when dimensioning that the center points of the arcs are not symmetric as expected. I then used two contour rolls to create the part basing the second contour roll on the first contour roll sketches and I still have the same issues.

I already tried with transitional constrains but then inventor says that there are some problems.My project needs to become a sectional gate so there's going te be lots more than just 2 wheels in it..
I am trying to design a welded Iron tank whose caps are made of sections, then welded together. I made one section using Contour Roll on Sheet Metal, and worked fine, but when I made the Flat Pattern it mades a square.

I want to make a contour roll and use the developed length option. How do I accomplish this.
The only way I can get this option to be available (not greyed out) is to have a closed loop sketch, if I have only a single line line sketch this option is not available.
I have an HP Designjet 800 that is currently loaded with a 36" roll. I'd like to print to ANSI D in a landscape orientation, but D (landscape) isn't an option in the paper size drop down. Printing D in portrait orientation just wastes a bunch of paper space.
How do I change the paper from 22x34 to 34x22? (or vice versa, whichever way I need).
I have received a ctb file from someone else and need to use it for my dwgs - but it does not appear in the plot style table roll down of the page set dialogue box? Other ctb files are visible. I have used stylesmanager to locate where to copy it in, and done so. I have tried the command CONVERTPSTYLES in case my dwg was not color style based but I get this message:
THIS COMMAND CONVERTS A COLOR DEPENDENT PLOT STYLE DRAWING TO USE NAMED PLOT STYLES. YOU SHOULD CONVERT YOUR COLOR DEPENDENT PLOT STYLES TABLES (CTB FILES) TO NAMED PLOT STYLE TABLES (STB FILE) WITH CONVERTCTB BEFORE YOU CONVERT YOUR DRAWING.
Doesn't this mean that my dwg is already a color dependent plot style dwg? I have successfully copied and used this ctb file somewhere else yesterday, and feel I am doing the exact same thing, so very frustrated and lost. I really need to get these dwgs out!
I want to roll a image to it's horizontal axis like rolling a paper
I dont have any link to express it completly but,
like paper curl in corel (certainly it does not make it complete roll).
but how to make it a complete roll(on horizontal axis not on inclined axis) so that it looks like a rolled paper.
when I roll over the pic, it didn't change to its original?

Just accessing the "camera roll" folder crashes VS X5. I have to copy every video I want to edit from that folder to somewhere else in order to edit them. FLAT OUT LOCKS UP AND CRASHES if I access the Camera Roll folder in VS X5 in Windows 8.1.
Crossfade is extremely buggy, it leaves pops and sometimes even cuts out the sound completely if one is using a crossfade on a video that has the sound already on it. I usually end up having to record the output of the audio from VS X5 through "stereo mix" with Audacity, save it as a wav, and then mix it into the video again later while muting the original video.
Crossfades are extremely glitchy in general when using AVCHD, the only high quality format that doesn't degrade the sound to oblivion.
Saving as an HD MP4 results in such bad sound degradation that it's almost not usable if it contains music, everything above 12k is pretty much completely hosed.
Thumbnails will randomly unlink themselves, and when you try to re-link them, even though they're there, it doesn't know how to get the name, so you either have to type it in again or select it from the list.
Are these things fixed in X6?
i designing in CorelDRAW x5... Plotter is roland camm-1 pro... everything is ok but i want roll plotting.. i want to plott 58cm x 300cm but then have 1 issue: Output doesn´t fit on media... and if i do print... they start printing but in 160cm they stop... plotter area is 58cm x 25 m...
