AutoCAD Map 3D :: Viewpoint Freeze For Display Manager Items
Oct 29, 2012
I created a drawing with multiple layout tabs, so as to create different maps. My display manager consists of data connections & layers added from the Layer Properties Manager. When I activate a viewport from the layout, I want to freeze some of the Data Connection items (like shp files). How can I freeze these items within the active viewport only?
I've been using AutoCAD 2011 for several months, and I'm familiar with most properties such as layers, etc.
I have 2 separate issues, which I'll explain separately.
Issue 1. I have 6-7 named views (same drawing) that I use consistently. However, only 2 of them will cause them to show up. Example: I click View #3 from Views #4,#5,or #6. Nothing happens or changes.OR I can click View #1 or #2 (which will regen/show View #1 or #2), then quickly click View #3 during #1's regeneration, and View #3 regenerates clearly. What can I do to make the others show up independently (just one click required)?
Issue 2.In 2 views in the drawing mentioned above, a couple of blocks don't show up with the rest of the views. If I enter the Regen command, and then they'll show up. If I hadn't tried it the first time, I would have probably missed the blocks entirely and re-created them. What can I do to make them regenerate correctly the first time?
Using AutoCAD Map 3D 2010, I'd like to create a new legend for my map ("Tools > Create Legend").I'm trying to follow the steps shown on this video: URL....but there's no "Tools" option in my "Display Manager" tab.
I have many layers of data being FDO / SDF and Native Autocad Layers in the Display Manager which controls the DRAW ORDER. I also have 2-3 XREF's attached which when inserted create a separate layer in the Layer Properties. I am trying to separate these XREF layers from the Map base layer and have a new layer created in the DISPLAY MANAGER for each of the xref''s. I right click in the display manager and go DATA>ADD DRAWING DATA>DRAWING LAYER and select the Xref layers. They successfully get inserted into the DISPLAY MANAGER but when checking them on/off, it doesn't control its display. It appears they are still on the MAP BASE.
I have to add a style text in a display manager. When i add it, i have a option to scale this text. It is possible to have possibility to scale the text as a same height in multiple viewport in a layout... example (* 10 (VIEWPORTSCALE)) but this line does'n work
I'm working on a drawing where I've been turning on/off a layer for parcels so I can select a well (point coverage/theme) or the parcel to get well owner and property information. All of a sudden I can't select the layer anymore - the checkbox becomes unresponsive. C3D and not map for this...
I imported data from a SHP file to a base drawing I plan to use to attach, and I wanted to replace data points with data symbol definition blocks. However, when I create a symbol style and try to edit it by double-clicking, I get a *Cancel* on the command line and nothing happends. When I pressing the "Style" button on the Display Manager tab in the Task Pane, same thing.I suspect that I missed a step - or several - along the way of importing the SHP file.
When opening the layers dialogue box in AutoCAD 2013 the display does not appear to load correctly, I have had this problem before when executing this command and loaded up the old layer manager, I can't remember what the command is for load this.
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 SP2 64-Bit Edition Windows 7 HP Z400, Intel Xeon W3550 3.07GHz 12.0GB RAM, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)
I want to attach a drawing as xref to another drawing, but with maps, to be specific, with drawing manager layers, entity styles and hatch styles. I've made different maps in the same drawing with different styles, so I can change them accordingly.
Now that I have been able to move things around in my view point, I notice that the VP appears to be bigger than the boarder. I have tried clicking on the corners to get the resize handles to appear, but they wont.
Have also tried the stretch command, and making sure that pickfirst is set to 1.
I have got a screenie of it, as it appears on the bottom part the boarder isn't showing either.
AC2005, New to 3D and having a bit of a rough time (frustrating) getting objects to stay aligned from one Viewpoint to another. I move an object to what appears aligned w/ another object in FRONT view, but from TOP or any SIDE view, that object is way off in the background or half of the drawing away.
I just updated my CorelDraw for X6 to X6.2 and now my object manager will not display the detailed information about the curves. It use to show the fill color, "CMYK, 0,88,77,50" outline fill color CMYK 0,0,0,100"
Now it just shows the curved symbol. Would like to get this back.
I was wondering if after drawing an alignment, creating a profile, and profile view, is there a way I can mark items along the alignment so they could show up in the profile view. I am laying out a pipeline and want to have the profile display a marker for items such as tees, elbows, reducers and other items. The marker I would like to use will be something like the vertical style grade break markers.
Also on a side note, as each of these items will have a different name, is there a way that I can add these markers and then have each one with a unique name?
I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?
I'm trying to reconcile 3ds max's FOV camera settings to the settings I am presently using in Resoft Windfarm (a program which I use by imputting co-ordinates and height of a camera point and then specifying a horizontal FOV, which gives a real life viewpoint at the exact horizontal field of view that would be seen in reality.)
I'm currently setting the units to metres, importing my terrain at 1:1 and positioning modelled elements at 1:1 on top of the terrain in the correct 'co-ordinate' position, using the UCS with the exact 6 figure co-ordinate points. I am positioning my camera the same way, at the correct height and exact rotation, but when I specify the horizontal FOV it looks much smaller than it does in windfarm, like the field of view is not the same? I'm pretty new to 3ds max
After closing and reopening my command prompt, I find that it is now at the bottom left of the screen and no longer part of the main graphics window. How can I get it to display at the bottom of the main display?
For example, Stairs have a stringer componet in plan display configuration but does not have a stringer componet in the Low Detail configuration. I need the stringer to show when I go to low detail how can I add a stringer componet in low detail.
When working in paperspace trying to setup for a plot Autodesk decides to "freeze" my screen locking some of the drawing on the screen only removable by reopening the drawing.
I'm on my paper space layout tab, I double click inside the viewport so I'm in model space, I open the layer properties with the full drop down menu and click on the far right column with the snowflake icon which is suppose to freeze the layer for that particular view port. It does not freeze the layer. I'm starting to wonder if it is something with the program.
I'm using Autocad 2013, and im trying to freeze layers in certain viewports, but the VP freeze/thaw button is greyed out for all my layers and wont allow me to freeze anything. I dont want to use the New viewport freeze/thaw button.
I'm having an issue where the more I zoom into a drawing that has a raster image (a 1mb jpg) in it, regenerating times become increasingly long until the whole program just freezes. When I zoom back out, it's fine.
I've tried changing the file type, saving it with a different program, lowering the quality to Draft, zooming in on an area that the raster image wasn't in, lowering the DPI of the image, nothing works. I've spent the last two hours searching Google for a fix, found nothing. The only thing that seems to work is if I put the image on a layer and freeze it. The problem there is, I'm tracing over the image, so it being invisible makes it rather difficult to work with.
This has been occurring numerous time more than it should. While in a drawing mid command, panning, typing anything pretty much my cad freezes. The rest of my computer is fine everything works properly but CAD is frozen and when i bring my pointer into the program it disappears. I can even open cad up again and the old CAD will stay open. It shows the drawings i have open on the tab bar and i can’t close out of them. I have a computer that’s more than capable to work properly.
i managed to download and install autodesk inventor 2013, licensing is ok, i can start the program and look at some tutorial videos, but as soon as i try to draw anything the program freezes and my whole computer seizes, i tried to install the update but program still freezes, what can be the reason for this?
my computer is in the lower range performance wise, intel core 2 duo processor(1.83GHz) 3GB DDR2 ram but autocad 2010 ran fine on the same computer
Every time I try to hatch a larger area, my AutoCAD 2013 program freezes and I need to close the program and restart it, losing anything I hadn't saved prior to the freeze. In addition, certain areas won't hatch because the program is telling me I have open boundaries which is not the case.
Everything works fine until the center of my cursor passes over a 3d solid, the cursor then disappears, the spinning circle icon spins for sometimes minutes, and the display greys over, and I cannot click 'ESC' or Ctrl + C to abort this cycling. I have to wait, sometimes 30 secs, sometimes 2 minutes for it to stop freezing and the screen returns to normal.
As I work in 3d solids a lot, this makes Acad 2013 unusable to me. Acad 2007 was not an issue with this problem I still have it installed as I have to revert back to 2007 to do anything with 3d solids in it.
