AutoCAD Map 3D :: Setting To Ensure That Hatch Windows Comes Up?
Mar 6, 2012
I've just tried making a hatch, and notice that it no longer calls up the window that it used to call up in the older versions-- 2009 and earlier, for me.Is there a setting that I can set to ensure that the hatch window comes up?
I rarely use the default type/pattern name and scale settings, and I prefer to select my boundaries, instead of selecting a point within an area.
I recently started using Maya on Mac OSX, after having always used it on Linux, and I'm really baffled by the child windows behavior (think Hypershade, Graph Editor, Script Editor, etc...)
The shortcut Cmd+~ does switch focus between the windows, but the child windows always stay on top of the main one. That means that if I open one of these, but need to work in the main maya window, I need to click on the minimize button or double-click the title bar (because Cmd+M doesn't work on these!!!), then need to click in the dock to recall them...
Surely I must have missed something, didn't I? Is there a way to ensure the child windows are hidden by the main window when I switch focus using Cmd+~? On Linux I remember we had a way to set the environment variable MAYA_SET_PARENT_HINT to change this. For sure it's possible under OSX, since that's how firefox / safari and other applications work (switching focus between the different child windows correctly manage which one are in the foreground / background)
Is there a setting for hatch transparency? My work station it works fine. I have a few other users complining that is doesn't work. One user I imported my arg profile and it seemed to do the trick, but the next user I imported my arg and it had no effect.

In the hatch dialogue there is a setting to target the hatch to a specific layer. How does one set the default to ALWAYS be "Use Current"?
Attached jpg shows the target layer as ffbrg, but I want that to ALWAYS read "Use Current" when creating a NEW hartch. In other words, I am happily working in a specific layer creating all these hatches and then realize LATER that all the hatches were in different layers causing great confusiion and havoc.
I am having a problem in an elevation view where the surface hatch covers the windows after I apply a Modify Roofline command in the construct.
When I look at the elevation in an isometric view you can see the surface hatch go through the windows. When I refresh the elevations after the construct xref is reloaded after Modify Roofline command the windows are no longer visible.
If I reset the modify roofline command in the construct, reload the xref in the elevation the elevation returns to normal.
I'd like to figure out why after the modify roofline command the windows are covered in the elevation but not in the construct view.
I've always layout my floor plans three dimensional with the tools pallets commands such as walls, rails, door, windows & ect. I always have my walls pre-hatched with the solid pattern which is really effective to the floor plan. Normally when I put windows in the wall the window is clearly shown without the hatch in the wall but for some reason my wall's hatch started covering the windows and I can't seem to solve this problem.
I am a computer technician in a society that uses AutoCAD Architecture 2010.I'm having some problems with the software.
First problem:
On the computer of one of our users, the profile created in Autocad suddenly disappears :-(. We do not know why ... The user is obliged each time to recreate his profile, reconfigure all toolbars .Have you ever encountered this problem?
Second problem:
On another computer, from time to time the delete function of Autocad is no longer functional. We need each time between Pickfirst = 1 and that works. How to ensure that this function does not disappear?
Third problem:
On another computer, the user activates the 3D profile, he selects his palette, and when he clicks on the "more"window, autocad error appears "Error Report Autodesk,..." . Is it possible to display all palettes?
I got a mail from a German in Saudia Arabia. He runs Windows 7 withEnglish as default language. He installed GIMP 2.6.9 and it comes upin Arabic which he can't read.
He sent me a screen shot which shows the menus of his mail program inthe back behind the Arabic GIMP. They are in German, but he says hissystem is running in English. Localisation Hell?
I've been using AutoCAD for a while now, started with 2011 and now I'm using 2012. However, the one issue I've never been able to resolve is how to get my linetypes to show in model space properly, and then how to get them to show the same way in paperspace.
I know it has something to do with, at least, LTSCALE and PSLTSCALE. I've never know the 'formula' to make those work - it takes a lot of trial and error before they work together. Is there a trick to just making all of this work, without changing scales and regenerating countless times?
The current drawing I'm working with; I'm drawing in 1:1, with my viewports set to 1:100. My LTSCALE is 500, and my PSLTSCALE is set to 0. That seems to make things 'work' but, I can't figure out how to always just make these values work.
I should add I've checked the forums for a 'magic' answer and, there doesn't seem to be one. Is this the way it really is? I thought AutoCAD would be a little more intuitive than just 'trial and error until it works'.
I am writing various text insertion lisp routines. I want the computer to default to UPPERCASE before the user enters any text to ensure the text is added to the drawing as UPPERCASE text at all times.
I have some photos that look beautiful on the computer screen. They are each about 8MB and, according to the color settings menu, I am using sRGB. This all being said, I was sad to see that when I got 8X10 prints made, they did not measure up. Colors were not as good. Shadows looks blochy. Some of the light was different. Some pictures looked overexposed after printing. how to ensure the prints turn out like the original?
Below are two versions. Picture 1 is a smaller version of an original image. Picture 2 is a scan of the 8X10 I got printed of that same picture. In picture 2, the colors look more saturated.
In picture 1, the shadow fading in the background is smooth. In picture 2, the shadow fading becomes blochy as it fades more. This is MUCH more evident in the 8X10 print. The scanner didn't pick it up that well.
I have a hatch (ANSI31) enclosed by a closed polyline. Whenever I change the hatch from ANSI31 to GRAVEL some of the hatch shows up outside the boundary. The Polyline consists of both arcs and line segments, and the hatching errors are occurring within the radius of the arc segments. Changing it from Associative to Non Associative makes no change.
I am in need of a lisp routine which will automatically pick up all hatch and solid hatch patterns within a drawing and change the colour to colour 254.
Just downloaded Autocad 2013 and am missing quite a few of the standard hatches (siding, soldier, board and batten, etc.) What should I do to get them back. When I open old drawings with these hatches in them, they load just fine...but I am unable to hatch any new areas with these hatches (because they are not listed in the hatch library)
I want to be able to add a Block Reference to a hatch. I'm adding the block reference to an ObjectIdCollection and the hatch is not taking it when using AddLoop().
So I thought maybe I needed to add the location of the polyline (curve-like) object that is member of the blockreference to the hatch, but I don't know how to get its ObjectId.
Also, I'm trying to delete certain HatchLoop that is associated to a polyline but I don't know how to do it. I'm going through the loops in the hatch but I don't know what to do there. I wanna do this so I create a new and different hatch on top.
I think one could also copy all the loops except the one one wants to delete, but I'm not sure how to tell which one is the one I want to delete that is the one associated to a polyline or that is in certain region.
I've migrated from 2005 to 2014 LT and wondered if they have added to the hatch commands. I've looked and haven't found anything. Is there a command that you can pick a hatch pattern already shown on the drawing and make that pattern the existing one to use? I sometimes have multiple hatch patterns and scales, and wanted a quick way to go from one to another without lisp help.
Best practices for setting up systems in a lab environment. We have a lab enviroment of about 200 systems that access AutoCad, Inventor, Mechanical and others.
We need to have a customized interface come up when Autocad is opened by students.I have read that you can do this with profiles and workspaces and also with loading a acad.lsp file.
In the past we have just copied the Windows admin profile used to customize AutoCad to the default profile. In AutoCad 2013 that does not seem to grab everything. It doesn't seem to be the best way to do what we need.
We will also be moving to Windows 7 soon which will also cause an issue.I want to find the best way to do this with out having to deal with the Windows profile.
I have an action which applies Levels and Curves to my black and white TIFFs. At the end it "saves as" a JPEG. Originally it saved them at quality level 10 but I re-recorded the action to set the quality at 12. However, since this change the action keeps saving as into the folder where the image I used for the re-recording was located.
Why is my hatch off set from what I want to hatch? I pic the points of the area in 3d i want to hatch but it ends up hatching out of the points i select?
This just started happening after I downloaded DWG TruViewer. I am working on LT 2008 using Fusionware on a MacPro. I needed the viewer to convert newer drawings from an architect. Now, when I double click on a drawing in Explorer a separate AutoCad window opens for each drawing I need open. I prefer to just go up to Window>and click on the one I need at that time, especially if I have several to switch between because it is easier to see the file name I want.
SDI is set to 0
Taskbar is set to 0
Relaunched the program
I can't open files using File>Open because the program crashed each time and Autodesk is not issuing anymore fixes for 2008. (Yes, we should upgrade but there is no money budgeted)
Right-click on any .dwg file and go to Properties>General>Change> and select the AutoCad LT launcher as the preferred program
Since I am in Window 7 instead of XP the File Types tab has been removed from Folder Options so I can't fix it that way.
So, why did this change? FYI that stupid TruViewer made lots of unnecessay changes to my AutoCad and Explorer programs that I am still trying to sort out like changing the file icon and hiding the file extensions. Are they trying to make it hard to find files or what?
And next, how can I reset the default so that double clicking on a .dwg in Explorer opens in already open AutoCad window?
AutoCAD LT 2011 has been installed in a Windows XP computer. When logging into this computer using the Windows Administrator Account, all AutoCAD LT 2011 features are available.
But when logging into this same computer using the Windows Limited / Restricted Account, all AutoCAD LT 2011 features are missing. How can we get all the AutoCAD LT 2011 features back using the Windows Limited / Restricted Account?
Why can't Windows Explorer show thumbnail previews of DNG's on my Windows 8.1 64bit Pc. I assume is has something to do with not having the DNG codec. However, on Adobe's website it says their DNG codec only works on Windows 7.
