AutoCAD Map 3D :: ECW Image Moving When Zoomed?
Aug 11, 2011
I have a drawing that contains an ecw image inserted through FDO. The image appears in the correct location when plotted at a smaller scale 1"=100', but when printing a larger area at say 1"=2000' the image is not in the correct location. It appears to be shifted when compared to linework that is present in the drawing. The shift is about 100'.

Brand new MacBook Pro - Non-Retina - OSX 10.8.2 / 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 / 8GB RAM / 750GB HD (currently 522GB free space) / CS6 Extended Version 13.0.1. x64
I just got a new MacBook Pro this past week and immediately discovered that whenever I would try to move around on a zoomed-in image (using two-finger scrolling on my trackpad, as I've done for years), it would be very choppy/jagged/sort of jumping pixels. I've changed everything in Photoshop--Preferences--Performance multiple times (including the graphics processor settings, memory usage, history & cache), as well as all of my scrolling and trackpad settings, and have also tried with and without automatic graphics switching.
I have this issue in both CS6 (downloaded directly from adobe.com last night, extra updates done immediately), and CS5. I tried CS4 and there was no issue...but I didn't get a brand new computer to use an old version of Photoshop. Went into the Apple store today to see if they've seen this issue before, but the person I spoke to had not (and knew nothing about Photoshop...not that I expected him to).
I have a few friends who have this same problem - some just deal with it (or don't use Photoshop enough for it to be a bother), some have gotten their computers replaced (but with no actual answers). Apple wasn't convinced that this was a hardware issue in my case, but did offer to replace the computer (however it will take a couple weeks, as it's a custom order). I've spent countless hours searching these Adobe forums (and the rest of the internet) for insight.[URL]...
This happens on ALL images, regardless of file type and size (the image shown in this video is just a jpg with no extra layers - working on RAW files with multiple layers produces the same result, no worse). And once again, I have changed everything in the Performance Preferences in PS (including the graphics processor settings, memory usage, history & cache), as well as all of my scrolling and trackpad settings, and have also tried with and without automatic graphics switching in my energy saver preferences...all multiple times, all with closing/reopening PS, all with restarting my computer afterwards. Have I missed something, or do you guys think it is more than likely a hardware (RAM, graphics card, etc) problemHere is my (current) system info - again, I've changed the PS performance preferences multiple times -
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1 20120808.r.519 2012/08/08:21:00:00) x64
Operating System: Mac OS 10.8.2
System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:58, Stepping:9 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, HyperThreading

One thing that has always puzzled me is why i can't move the canvas while zoomed in so it's possible to see the gray area outside the actual image.
As far as I remember Painter has always been able to do this and I'm astonished this is not possible even in CS2.
Or is it?

I don't know why, but PS is a BEAR to deal with when drawing out shapes up close (to get pixel perfect position)
As I draw it I have to move the cursor "off the screen" to get it to start creating the object while it's moving the canvas over.
But it moves SOOOOO slow! I mess with 1400px wide images and I'm zoomed in quite a bit, and it seems to move by 5 pixels a second. Is there some trick to speeding this up? There's only 20 or so layers.

I want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."

1-week-old MacBook Pro - Non-Retina - OSX 10.8.2 / 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 / 8GB RAM / 750GB HD (currently 522GB free space)
I initially discovered my issue in Photoshop CS6, but just installed the trial of LR 4.2, as well as 4.3RC, to see if the problem persisted, and it does. My problem is choppy/zig-zagging movement when moving around (two-fingered scrolling using my trackpad) on a zoomed-in image. Here's a video capture of the problem in Photoshop - and it does the exact same thing in LR. Solution is to use a mouse instead of a trackpad...so useful. [URL]...The image in this video is just a jpg, quite small in file size.
I have adjusted every single scrolling/trackpad option in System Preferences, tried enabling and disabling automatic graphics switching in Energy Saver Preferences, changed all Performance Preferences in PS. I've also installed all Apple and Adobe updates.
(Here's my other post, with more detailed information - [URL]...)

Lightroom 4.3, Win 7 64 bit
I am trying to edit an Adjustment Brush in the Develop module.
I want to fine tune the coverage area for the brush.
I can use Ctrl +/- keys to zoom in/out, and the Page Up/Down keys to scroll up and down when zoomed in, but there does not seem to be any way to scroll right and left when zoomed in. The key shortcut lists I've seen don't list anything for scroll left and right. How to scroll the image left and right when zoomed in ?

It seems whenever the display zoom is less than 100%, CS3 uses some kind of "Pixel Resize" for display which makes for low quality output to look at.
Is there any way to tell CS3 to a simple bilinear filter when displaying less than 100%? This would make for much less artifacts/jaggedness and I'm sure the speed impact would not even be noticeable.

The SDF shown below Zoomed In is displayed properly.
The SDF file Zoomed Out one level is missing a portion of the yellow line.
When I zoom out one level, a portion of the SDF does not display. This same portion will not print to DWF either.
If it were a SHP file I would delete the *.IDX file. I tried REGENALL and REFRESHING the SDF file.

I was using "Real time zoom" tool, when my arm slipped on somewhere on the keyboard and something weird happened. All my work which was drawed (plans, elevations, maps...) turned into a "dot" which is impossible to zoom in or do anything with it (I can move it though) and see the objects.

Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.
I opened a .dng image in LR and then opened it in the Develop module. I clicked on Crop Overlay and then on the ‘As Shot’ drop down menu (the lock is closed) and cropped to 11 x 17 and clicked ‘Done’-.
I click Cntl-E and the image opens in CC. There I click on Image > Image Size and the Image Size is 13.288 inches by 20.533 inches.
Why does the image size change?
I believe there is a menu to control the size of the image and I've looked everywhere I can think of in LR and CC, I googled various descriptions and I checked two of Scott Kelby's books, but I just can't figure out how to keep the image a consistent size when moving between LR and CC.

I'm currently using auto cad 2000 because it's required in our class. When I make circles or move or objects there are no image guide. like when I make circles only the lines are there I still have to calculate what the diameter is rather than by simply looking how big the circle is. or when I'm connecting objects, It's very hard to connect complex objects by moving them because there is no guide to where the image is suppose to be when the mouse is at a particular place.

I recently upgraded to the 2011 version. I noticed that when I am zoomed in on a dashed line to the point where only one dash is visible on the screen, if I select the dash using the blue (window) selection box, it will select the dashed line, even though the entire line is not within the blue rectangle. This was not the case in earlier versions of AutoCAD, and I was hoping that there is a way to disable it.
In other words, if I'm zoomed in on a portion of the line, I only want to be able to select it by either clicking on the line itself or by dragging the green (crossed) selection box over it. I do not want the line to be selected when I drag the blue (window) selection box over the line.
Also note that this happens with hatches as well. For example if you zoom in on a concrete hatch so that only one triangle out of the hatch pattern is visible on the screen. By dragging the blue selection box over the triangle, it will select the hatch. Again, in this case, the hatch should not be selected because it is not entirely enclosed by the blue rectangle, only a portion of it is.

I'm building a platform and have sheet metal on top of a tube frame. When I'm zoomed up closely I only see the sheet metal surface. But when I zoom out further some of the tubes start becoming visible through the sheet metal. This happens in just about every assembly. Parts behind other parts start becoming visible when zooming out far enough.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?

A problem i have encountered with LT 2011 is the extend or trim command freezing/taking a long time to extend or trim.
If i zoom up close, extend/trim works as normal instantly, but if i zoom out further & try the same extend/Trim it can take 30 seconds or more.
I dont remember having this issue on previous LT versions, I've found this with many if not all drawings

while in a layout tab in paperspace, if I zoom in and try to plot a windowed area, the feature layer information does not print but all vector information does. If I zoom extents and replot using the same previous settings with the small windowed area, all layers plot like they are supposed to. Now another scenario is as follows:

I am using Acad 2008. When zoomed very close, I can not select/highlight an object such as a line by clicking on its apparent location, instead, I have to try clicking somewhere around it so to select it. The showing line seems an shadow of the real line which is "hiding" somewhere. This usually happens after I played with a drawing (open/close/changing viewing directions etc) for a long time and the drawing seems "degenerated" somewhat. The only way I can correct this is to select all objects in the drawing and copy/paste to a brand new drawing started with a blank template. I guess a system variable governs this effect, but I do not know which one.

I have 5 drawings that all have the same model (basically a topo map of a 2 mile radius) but each have unique info, i.e. monitoring well locations, utility info, etc. The client wants a zoomed in view of a 1 block radius and I need all 5 drawings to have an identical zoom. How do I adjust my viewports in each drawing so they are zoomed in to the exact same place?
I'm using AutoCAD 2007 for this.

I have a simple frame made of a 1/2 rod and have inserted a textured appearance of expanded metal. It is a guard.
I am not sure if the way i inserted the texture is correct, but it currently is scaled down to small. Have to scroll in lots to actually see the expanded metal.
Is there a better way to apply the texture than creating a surface? How can I adjust the scale of the texture?
Maybe applying a texture is not the best way to show that this guard is to have a section of expanded metal that will fit inside the 16x24 in guard? a note is not ideal in the drawing, but I suppose it is better than making an actual model of the expanded metal.
Part is attached below. Inventor 2013 Pro.

When making a selection, I like to use the magnetic lasso tool. I usually zoom in on the image. I just hate it when you get to the edge of the image and you have to "manually" push the lasso tool against the edge of the image to give you get access to the rest of the image to select it. I always mess up and selection is ruined by the quick movement when more is opened....
is there any way to scroll the image up or down when you get to the edge of it and you still have to select outside of the window...
Maybe there's a key stroke that will allow me to scroll up or down or right or left without losing the amount that I've already selected.
