I'm trying to import Excel charts (from Excel Office Home and Student 2010) into Autocad LT 2009. I've been doing this for years without a problem using Excel 2003 but now that I've upgraded to Excel 2010, I loose a lot of formatting (line weights are different, fonts are jumbled). how I can import with Excel 2010? BTW, I tried the trial of Autocad LT 2012 and still had the problem.
View 3 RepliesI have a detailed graph that is created in Excel that I want to paste into Illustrator so that I can save it as a high resolution TIFF file for submission to a journal.
In Excel the graph looks like this:
But when I select it (using Select Objects and then Copy OR Copy as picture) and paste it into Illustrator, it looks like this:
I have used different line formats in Excel for the different curves that are plotted and these obviously don't come through correctly when pasting into Illustrator. The lines are there but the scaling for the dashes or dots seems to be changed (increased). I'm good with Excel but a bit of an Illustrator newbie, why this is happening and can it be corrected.
I am on Win 7 64 bit system using Office 2010 and AI CS6
I have been using CorelDraw for years (since version 2) to dress up charts generated in Excel by using copy picture from Excel and pasting (special) as an enhanced metafile. Now since moving to Excel 2010 and CorelDraw X5 it seems some functionality has changed so that most of my chart objects (symbols, lines, but not text) appear in CorelDraw as two separate objects when I view them with wireframe mode.
One seems to be the outline of the object, the other is the centreline (see below). This makes editing tedious because for symbols, I must individually delete the outline object. For lines it is impossible - basically a line in the Excel chart turns into a "sausage" which can be both filled and outline edited. Maybe I am just missing an option somewhere to deal with this or is this some option in Excel that I need to change (re- the latter, a colleague with Adobe Illustrator doesn't have this problem on the same Excel charts).
I've been creating charts in Excel 2004 for Mac for years and copying them into Illustrator. They have always previously pasted into Illustrator as vectors illustrations. I've created hundreds of charts in Excel before and copied them to Illustrator to "dress them up" for reports with no problems. I just created a chart in Excel 2004 for Mac and copied it to Illustrator and it came in as a picture. This is the first time I have ever had this happen with an Excel chart.

My problem is when I break the table the first table will keep my formatting changes - text height and alignment, but the following table breaks do not stay the same once I close and reopen the drawing

I have a MP4 video that I imported in and half way through previewing it, the audio drops. The original plays all the audio fine, but VideoStudio just can't get past a certain point with the audio.

I recently decided to see how the AutoCAD tables work. I was very happy to learn you could link your Excel spreadsheets with CAD. But now I have a problem.
After inserting the table it refuses to use the table style I have set up. The fonts do not want to change at all. I can change the colour of the text, but not the font.

I've created a data link, linked to my autocad drawing, checked the box to keep excel formatting and update. Once i Import the table, the size of the table is NOTHING like what the size is in excel.
I have my page layout in excel to be 11 x 17 landscape. I have my table at about 9 1/4 x 15 landscape. Once I import it into autocad, it is now about 6 3/8 x 20 1/4. I don't know what i'm doing wrong but i need it to transfer just like it is in excel as far as the size of it.
I have a table imported into autocad from excel, however despite the table (excel) being formatted, border lines appropriately placed and hidden througout the sheet, all off the border lines of the cells appear when imported into autocad.
is there anything i can do to hide back some border lines for selected cells?
Importing excel files into AutoCAD drawings works nicely but the print is unreadable in some areas of the page. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to how the plot will turn out.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a 3d surface by importing points from an excel file. I have been using "import points" in the 3d sketch mode, and checked off the box that says "create 3d spline." But this just causes Inventor to freeze and crash. My excel file had about 2000 points, all of which lie on the surface I want to create in Inventor.
Should this method work in theory, and do I just have too many points?
I'm trying to link an Excel sheet to a new assembly but it is only listing half of the sheet parameters. I have done this before with no issues. I've also imported another sheet and it works fine. I copied and renamed a sheet I know that works deleting the data from it and coping the data I want and I get the same results. This lead me to believe there is something wrong with the sheet. See attached file.

Any way I can import data from an excel file in a predetermined range but variable workbook and sheet. For instance, in Station5.dwg I access cells B4:C15 on sheet STA-5 on workbook TerminalA.xls and then in Station6.dwg I access cells B4:C15 on sheet STA-6 on workbook TerminalA.xls, but all through just rerouting the sheet just as if I were to reroute an xref with the same scale and insertion point.
I'm trying to avoid a continual copy/paste of OLEs for each .dwg because I will have an average of 5 ranges to import from each sheet, of an average of 7 sheets per workbook, of an estimated 220 workbooks to work through. (7,700 ranges estimated so far is a lot of work).

the lsp does creat circles with diameter of 5 related to imported points from excel
i realsed that it is able to get the first column but can get the coordinate from the second one

I am trying to modify a bar graph that I have imported as a pdf from excel, and am having some trouble with customizing the color fill on the bars of the bar graph. When I select the object/bar and then fill with a different color, I see no change. However the menu shows the new color I selected for that particular object. Is there something weird about the type of object that the bar is when it is imported from excel?
OK I figured out that for some reason the bars on the bar graph are imported as clipping masks - very weird, you need to release the clipping mask, deselect the bar, select and delete the background shading, then fill the bar (which was previously the mask, I believe?) Why excel exports like this?
I notice something similar with the imported text labels associated with the same graph. When I select the text and change the font size, for some strange reason it can size up (say, from 10pt to 12pt) but not down (day, from 10pt to 8pt) It seems weird when I try to edit it at all really, as if the element was not a text element, is there some way to convert it to a text object? Ok this is working properly now, don't know why it was wonky before.

We have a project to make flowcharts in Photoshop. I know there are programs specifically used to produce flowcharts, but PS CS3 is what we have. We have the text boxes and now trying to decide what line tool to use to connect the boxes. We tried the brush and pencil tool at 6 pixels and hold down the shift key to draw horizontal, then click and hold shift again for vertical, but we are getting "ink/Paint" blotter bleed.
I tried the pen tool, but it doesn't seem to allow you to draw a single line one way, select it and then apply a 6 pixel stroke. Is it possible to use the pen tool this way?
I must make some Pie Charts at work, and the data is in a Excel file. Of course all Values are in decimal for a 100% value:

Now i realized, that Illustrator can't work with decimal? But that's wrong! The values are exactly 100 (%). Where the gap comes from? So i goggled it and find out, that this bug exists since CS2 (i have CC)! The wrong solution is to clear manually all decimal commata:

Previously i`m using version 2009 and importing Google earth image and surface works fine. However, recently i tried with version 2010 and i`m having some problem here (imported surface / contour seems ok but the image is too large like 3x or 4x). How to solve that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently come up againast a wall in Illustrator. I'm producing a large, detailed pie chart, and the fine slices aren't being shown accurately.
For example, if you prodoce a simple 3-slice pie chart using: 99.5, 0.1, 0.4 .... the smallest slice will be lost. It looks as though Illustrator will not show anything under a quarter of a per cent.
Is there a way to create high low close charts in illustrator?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created some sample pie charts for a client - had no problems with the document while it was open. It saved fine, I even saved it as an EPS. However, when I try to reopen the document, it gives me an error (whether I open the illustrator or eps file).
I haven't been able to track down the reason for it. It has 6 sample pie charts on it. The text and labels are simply text or lines drawn on a separate layer. The "hole" is simply a white circle on top of the chart. There isn't really anything complicated with it, so I'm not sure where the error is. I've already recreated this but had the same problem again.
This does not happen for all pie charts - there is another file I created with other samples, and I've been able to reopen that. The odd thing is that even though I get the error, it seems to partially open the file - only a few of the elements show up.
I wish to create a scatter bubble chart where the position of the bubble is dependent on the values of the X and Y axis, the size of the bubble is dependent on a third data dimension and the colour of the bubble will vary according to another grouping type dimension. Is this possible under illustrator?

Recently I have been trying to build table driven products and ipart tables, but when I copy a member to create a new part number, upon exiting the iassembly author I get the following message "excel installation is required for this operation. failed to launch excel". I have a fully functional version of 2010 Excel installed which has been used so it should be recognized in the windows registry. I am running Windows 8 and Autodesk Inventor 2014.

When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
I would like to know how to change the colors of the charts that Xara brings in the Design Gallery.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Pantone + Solid coated book that has 336 new colors in the back. Specifically pms 2028 C. The problem is when I try to find it in the PMS charts in Illi CS6 or PS CS6, those 336 new colors are not in my Pantone + Solid coated charts. I ran the adobe updates and it updated what it needed but I'm still unable to find it. Am I looking in the wrong chart? The name matches that of my PMS book so it just doesn't make sense. I scroll through the Illi chart and also try to use the "find" section.

I lose all hot key options and can only use the on screen icons, or I can do some commands (save, line, ect.) in longhand command. I was told by our I.T. guy to mention that it could be a "roaming profile" issue? How can I get my hot keys back when i'm disconnected from our work server?? This is actually becoming an occuring issue with others in our department as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing Full Autocad 2013, no extensions.I have a directory full of 25 drawings, P&ID's to be exact. I've done all the drafting on them, and I need to publish the set. I used to publish them 24x36 to our plotter, but we have started sending out large plot jobs, so I need to publish to PDF. This normally isn't a problem at all. I set up the first drawing's layout tab to print. Everything is good. Preview it, all is good.
I open the publish box, add all the drawings layouts, use the page setup from the first drawings layout, select publish to PDF, set them to go to my normal folder, and publish. The drawings all publish, and everything is correct except that they all, instead of centering on the page, they center horizontally but go to the bottom of the sheet vertically. So I have a two inch margin on the top of the drawing and .5 inch or so on the bottom. I'm assuming this means that the publish can't find the drawing extents (we use plot to extents, center plot). So I go into all the drawings, zoom extents in all the layouts, and still it publishes the same.
Is there a variable I'm missing? If I plot just one it works and the plot is dead center of the page, publish more than one and it doesn't work.
After saving several times I am not able to open the last saved version of the file when I open it after unexpectedly shut down. All my saving is gone! Nice to use DROPBOX to upload my last saving. Why are inventor undoing all my saving?
