AutoCAD Inventor :: Excel Installation Is Required / Failed To Launch Excel
Sep 4, 2013
Recently I have been trying to build table driven products and ipart tables, but when I copy a member to create a new part number, upon exiting the iassembly author I get the following message "excel installation is required for this operation. failed to launch excel". I have a fully functional version of 2010 Excel installed which has been used so it should be recognized in the windows registry. I am running Windows 8 and Autodesk Inventor 2014.
I have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes. The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
We have a whole bunch of spreadsheets that we use for calculations and parts of those spreadsheets are linked to a ton of CAD Drawings via data links.
We would like to be able to deliver the CAD drawings to the client without having to send our calculation books (just the output tables). In other words, is it possible to embed the table data and remove the excel link for the final delivery?
I am linking a model to an excel spreadsheet. Normally you would specify what cell on the first sheet (Sheet1) to start in. I have been told that you can link to other sheets in the workbook as well. Is this possible? I have tried, but have not been successful. If it is possible, how is it done?
I have assembly with over 100 sub assemblies. I need to export the COG for each sub assembly to excel. The COG must be in relation to the parent assembly's origin point.
I can get coordinates manualy (right click on sub assembly - iProperties-Phisical), but it is take a lots of time.
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 Windows 7 64-bit
I created an assembly, so far with one part in it. I created an Excel spreadsheet with several dimensions in it that would be used in the assembly parts. I went to Manage>Parameters and linked the spreadsheet. The Excel file appeared in the Parameter Dialog Box with the parameters included in it. However, when I create a part in the assembly and attempt to dimension a sketch in it, the parameters option in the dimension box is not present.
I have done this in the past in IV2009, has anything changed that I cannot do so in 2010?
As my Inventor endeavors continue, I would like to take a template of a part I made and use Excel to change the parts dimensions. Essentially make it so if we need a 20 Tonne Lift Lug, I just punch in the necessary values in Excel and have the part update.
I have created a Excel spreadsheet to impoort into my Inventor model, but one of the valves that I have created need to be a unitless/type. How do I set up a Excel cell to acheive this
I created a program to export the Assembly BOM to Excel. I am running into a some strange behavior regarding Weldments and Inseparable assemblies. Here is a snippet of my
'Create BOM Object Dim oBom As Inventor.BOM oBom = oAssyDoc.ComponentDefinition.BOM oBom.StructuredViewEnabled = True oBom.StructuredViewDelimiter = "." [code].......
'This is where I put my code to export and write the file.

I run into the issue of the items inside a Weldmant assembly is not being exported. Yet I am able to create a structured multilevel partslist on my drawing showing all the items inside the Weldment.
Whats strange is that even if I change the Weldment assy’s BOM structure to Normal, it still does not make a difference. Is there a way to get the items of a Weldment into my BOM Rows object so that it will export? Whats strange is that if an assembly is set to “Inseparable” but is not a weldment then it exports the contents.
I link an excel spreadsheet of text into my .idw files and I constantly have this issue where the text is crowded (see attached). I've tried changing the font, etc. but nothing seems to work. Every once in a while if I move the linked sheet within the .idw it corrects itself.
I'm using Inventor 2012.
Inventor 2013 Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 HP EliteBook 8470w Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz Memory: 16 GB AMD FirePro M2000 3D Connexion SpacePilot
I have an assembly that I have created a sketch on and applied some dimensions. I would like to send those properties to an excel file that can then be inserted into an idw. What is the best way to get the parameter values into an excel file that would update as the model changes? I found were more focused on changing the model with the excel sheet which is not what I'm trying to do. I did try them however, but whether I clicked link or embed nothing appeared in the excel file at all.
We are using Inventor 2011 EN + Vault 2011 EN Basic on XP Pro SP3 DELL Workstations.
Step 1 : In our IDW files, we copy/paste as embedded OLE Objects (no link). And save the IDW files in our local workspace. Step 2 : we check-in this IDW Files. Step 3 : We check-out this IDW files and make modifications in the embedded Excel File, save the excel file and then save the IDW file. Step 4 : we check-in the idw file. Step 5 : the same user or anther one check-out the idw file, open the excel embedded file : the modifications have not been saved.
Trying to figure out the best method to insert an IDW into an Excel spreadsheet without sacrificing quality. I have tried several methods to go straight from Inventor(2012) to Excel(2010) using print PDF at press quality, export JPEG, and even the snipping tool as a last ditch effort all of which inevitably loose all line quality when inserted to Excel.
I have only had success bringing a PDF from Inventor into Adobe InDesign where I am able to mimic the design of my Excel spreadsheet and create an additional PDF to include with the Excel document. It seems like there would be an easier way for Inventor and Excel to work together without sacrificing quality or adding additional steps.
I know that to design for example a 3d curve i have to import a XYZ data points from excel. What if i wanna link these points from excel to Inventors curve? Everytime i change the excel file i want my curve to be updated.
I`m trying to insert an excel spread sheet in to inventor drawing, for some reason inventor cuts off 2 last rows. Is there a limit of how many rows can be inserted ?
I am trying to use an iLogic Excel link to define the hub and bushing dimensions for a wing pulley part file. I get an error: GoExcel: Could not match the column title: "Size". I've attached the part file and Excel file. The iLogic rule in the part file is called Hub_Bushing.
when I use the tool "import points from excel to inventor" in sketch mode, it looks fine. I pick the option "create lines". is there any way to create one line by one line? because inventor will give you "Z" shape when you create two different line in different "row".
i am having a BOM template for the parametric modelling i have created using the excel sheet input link.
when i create the drawing from the model the default Bom part list is coming, instead of that i need to get the Excel Bom Template i have created based on the input excel link.
Is there a way to link any inventor file iproperties to a excel spreadsheet - so that the excel spreadsheet updates parametrically with any inventor iproperty changes.
I know that inventor parameters can be linked to excel, but what about i properties?
I have used the command "insert object" to embed an excel sheet. I can see in the modelbar the new stage called "3rd Party", expanded I also see "Embedding 1". If I use edit I can see my excel sheet. So far good.
My next task is to create a Rule to recall cells in the sheet. I use the command CellValue (embedded) to pick my cell value. My problem is that then I close my rule-editor I got the error:
Error in rule: Rule0, in document: Box test.ipt
GoExcel: 3rd Party worksheet not found: "3rd Party:Embedding 1", Sheet: "Sheet1"
It seems like I´m not able to recall my cellvalues.Whats the difference between embedding a excelsheet as above or use the add link command i Parameters window?
I am trying to export some data from my BOM. I require the part names, quantities and lengths. I have followed a previous topic in these discussions which is now closed. it seems simple to follow but requires me to click on the export BOM icon in the top left of the browser. In my instance this is greyed out. D
