View 1 RepliesI am drawing an airfoil profile in Inventor for use in a CFD package. I have a system of points which I am plotting and connecting via the spline function and extruding them to form my blade profile. However, when I open the drawing in the CFD programme, it is recognising the spline as a series of straight lines instead of one continuous enclosed shape. The CFD programme I am using require a negative (i.e a solid drawing of where fluid is flowing). I have attached the inventor file I have created.

Working white sheet metal parts an missing a lot of materials. I know how change the existing materials, but would rather import them from the web.
When I link in an excel document to my model all parameters in that excel gets the unit (mm).
How can I change this? For instance I want some of the parameters to be an angle.
Recently I have been trying to build table driven products and ipart tables, but when I copy a member to create a new part number, upon exiting the iassembly author I get the following message "excel installation is required for this operation. failed to launch excel". I have a fully functional version of 2010 Excel installed which has been used so it should be recognized in the windows registry. I am running Windows 8 and Autodesk Inventor 2014.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a folder that contains subfolders, then more subfolders. All these folders contain Inventor files. There are few different models there with drawings and related files...
I need to make an exact copy of the folder at different location in Vault. To use Copy Design tool, I would need to do it few times, as there are few totally separate files in the folders.
Now, is there a way of taking main folder with its all contants and just copying/renaming it to other location? It would save me lot of time.
What is the possibility to use LibreOffice or OpenOffice with AutoCAD instead of MSOffice?
I wrote a lisp to import data from Libreoffice spread sheet to ACAD but I could not update this spread sheet by outputs from ACAD.
I am trying to measure the area of an office space within the stadium and keep getting a ridiculous figure - it keeps saying that it is something like 14 thousand square metres. Am I doing something wrong because it should be coming in somehwere near 150 sq metres?

I am able to insert my open office text OLE. I can double click and edit the OLE in the drawing. However, the insertion is not 8x11 more like 100' X 200' and only a small portion of the document is displayed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I open drawings created by others, I get a message " Specify font for Style OPT and "Arial Unicode MS" and a host of other fonts appear in the table. If I substitute this with Arial from the drop down list then the drawing opens. I believe Auto Cad automatically picks up either the SHX files in its own font directory or font files from MS office. My computer has Arial Unicode files in C:/Windows /Font directory and I do not know why it is not picking up the font from that file.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI have two identical computers (dell 745's) running windows 7 and Autocad 2012 (64bit). on one machine opening a drawing which has is a linked OLE document everything displays properly. On the other machine the same drawing is opened and only the top 1/4 or so of the OLE document is displayed in the area allocated to the OLE.
This drawing also displays correctly on a HP laptop running win 7 and autcad2012.
I have dumped the variables from all three machines using setvar and copy and pasting and can see nothing that is different between the machines.
I've used this method a lot in the past using acad2008/win xp pro and did run into a file occasionally the would mess with the OLE but it's been limited to one file once in a while. Now since I've upgraded this one machine refuses to handle any OLE's. I like the editing commands in word better the the limited commands in AutoCAD tables or Exel for that matter.
What variable or settings affect ole's?

What's the best way to share tool palettes within an office?
I do it through profiles: I Created an 'office' profile (.arg) that I eventually share with every employee in the office. Whenever I add things to the tool palettes, I simply create a new profile for every user.
However, lately not every palette gets transferred. I've done a major reorganisation of the office tool palette and only a very small amount of palettes actually get transferred.

We are seeming ot have problems with a few of our engineers having the Microsoft Office product go to "Not Responding" and then closing while working in Hydraflow & Hydrographs. This has been with Outlook, Word and Excel. All workstations are 64 bit systems with 16 gig of Ram Windows 7 and Civil 3D 2012 SP2.1.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI currently have dynamic blocks that I insert into a drawing. Grip points modify them.
Ideally the user can stretch the inserted objects without needing the grip points so that they behave like normal drawing entities.
If I apply parametric constrains to a set of objects and GROUP them, the object behaves the way I want but I don't know how to insert the group or reference its properties. There are no parametric dimensions in the properties pane when a constrained group is selected. Is there an alternative to Block and Group that would allow this?
Using Set Sheet Manager, I am trying to create an Office Standard Sheet Index Table.
I have begun by copying the Standard table and modifying it. I have adjusted the cell styles to reflect our colors and text types and sizes. I have also added two additional columns for revision number and revision date.
I have tried saving the new table ... and inserting a new table through the sheet set manager
the only tables i can bring in include the 2 original columns (sheet number and sheet title) and specified text font, size and color are maintained, but the additional columns and the column width are lost.
Ideally i would like the office format to be maintained...with little or no modification required of the user.
I recently upgraded from Autocad 2012 Mechanical. Previously, I was able to simply select objects in AC, ctrl-c them, then paste them into Word. I am now using 2013 Product Design Suite, with the Vault addin for word. I am now unable to do this. What I notice is that when I switch to my Word window and paste, there's some unknown process occurring in Autocad. Furthermore, what should be an image box with my drawing in Word is a blank box.

Without our office, we set up Sheet Sets for every set of drawings we produce, and we setup Page Setup Overrides specific to those drawings from which we can print. We may setup one for printing fullsize PDFs, another for in-house half-size plots, and another for 11x17 printing. The Overrides are saved on our office network.
We've been having an issue where the plotter(s) in the various Overrides won't work initially when someone other than the creator is printing. That person will have to open up the 'Manage Page Setup Overrides' tab, select 'Modify' for the Override they wish to change, and select the plotter to use in that Override (the plotter always defaults to 'None'). They can publish from that particular drawing set just fine until someone else in the office needs to print using an Override, in which case they go through the same procedure listed above.
We're using network printers only, and we've verified that the printer names, ports, etc. are all the same between the various computers, so different naming or port selection doesn't seem to be an issue.
I am currently using a FBK to run my auto-linework. I am having a problem generating curves, closing lines, etc... Everything works fine unitl I hit a curve or try to close a line. I have tried many different point code variations and the only one that worked on curves was a "BC1 BC, BC1 EC". Problem is I need multiple points on a curve to pick up laydowns, PVI's, etc... I tried the "OC", no "OC".......just about every variation I could think of to no avail. Is there an alternative to a FBK that works better?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI know the 'move text to elevation' tool works quite well but the elevation is purely assigned to the insert point of the text object, which in some cases could be metres away from the point it refers to depending on how the text is formatted.
Any tool, lisp or otherwise, that will read the text elevation and assign it to the nearest point/block adjacent to the object?
I have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes.The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
I am running AutoCad 2000 and using the plot-to-file option to create a file for use with a basic home workshop CAM system. This CAM system has been designed to run with data created using the Hewlett Packard plotter driver HP7470 but unfortuneately my version of AutoCad 2000 does not list this driver as an option under the Plotter Manager/Add a Driver tab. how I can go about finding and downloading a copy of driver HP7470 in order that it may be added to the list of options in the Add a Driver list?
I have tried using some of the alternative drivers listed in but all appear to give inaccurate or spurious results.
I've created a copy of my centerline alignment using the "Create Alignment from Existing Alignment" and was going to edit the new alignment to explore different options. But the new alignment can't be editted. It's lost something in the translation. There is no grip edit for the PI, that the original alignment has.

I am linking a model to an excel spreadsheet. Normally you would specify what cell on the first sheet (Sheet1) to start in. I have been told that you can link to other sheets in the workbook as well. Is this possible? I have tried, but have not been successful. If it is possible, how is it done?

Instead of it being 1.8288 meters for 6 ft., it's showing as 1828.8. Everything I read says to 'just move the decimal'. But how do I do that without overriding the actual dimension?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have assembly with over 100 sub assemblies. I need to export the COG for each sub assembly to excel. The COG must be in relation to the parent assembly's origin point.
I can get coordinates manualy (right click on sub assembly - iProperties-Phisical), but it is take a lots of time.

I created an assembly, so far with one part in it. I created an Excel spreadsheet with several dimensions in it that would be used in the assembly parts. I went to Manage>Parameters and linked the spreadsheet. The Excel file appeared in the Parameter Dialog Box with the parameters included in it. However, when I create a part in the assembly and attempt to dimension a sketch in it, the parameters option in the dimension box is not present.
I have done this in the past in IV2009, has anything changed that I cannot do so in 2010?
How do I get a BOM exported from my assembly into Excel? The only option I have is export as XML format which is useless to me.
