Where to find/import alternative material styles
egg. AISI 301? EN 1,4310?
Working white sheet metal parts an missing a lot of materials. I know how change the existing materials, but would rather import them from the web.
My program is missing a few material styles from the content library, whenever I use them on a part they just stay the default color. How do I replace them without having to re download the whole program?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have custom material, appearance, and sheet metal libraries. I exported all my sheet metal styles. When I try to import them, I get this message:
Error loading file 'file:///M:/00_Styles/SheetMetalStyles.styxml'.
Cannot find reference to Colors style named 'Stainless - 2B' in file:///M:/00_Styles/SheetMetalStyles.styxml.
Style 'Materialstainless Steel, 304 2B' has not been loaded from file:///M:/00_Styles/SheetMetalStyles.styxml.
The color and material it is looking for are both in the active style library.

There is import button which is import column schema (xml file) from file on Bill of Material window... Is it possible to make this within API, VB Express 2010.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using shape outline styles for corridor "structures" materials list to depict my cross section material shapes in section views. After creating the materials list everything looks fine until I exit the file, re-open or try to plot it using Sheet Set Manager. All shape outlines disappear randomly & if regenall is ran after opening xs.dwg the shapes will reappear.
Seems like the shapes should stay put but I'm getting this in all xs.dwg's for all my alignments.
-Attached Sec view 1 .jpg shows how section should look & Sec view 2 shows the disappearing issue.
Again with regenall the shapes usually reappear so the biggest dileema is the inability to do multiple plots & there are many sheets to plot but there are also times when the materials list stops dsplaying & only way to get it back is recreate the materials list.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do update the styles library to keep from getting the Styles Conflict error box. I have used the Standard.dwg file that loaded with Inventor 2012 but everytime I change styles and save the changes in a new template in reverts back to the library definitions.
I used to be able to select 'NO' in the LIbrary option of the Projects Folder but that optiion no longer exists.
We've created a new parts list style for a border.When the border tempalt file is on the c: drive...everything works hunky dory...parts list, revision tables, etc.But as soon as we copy and paste that border into the template library folder for new drgs...the parts list style is missing from the local styles?
So to make it appear on the new document...the style manager has to be set at all styles and the new parts list style has to be saved to the document?What aren't we doing to make it appear on the template?
Also note that because the drawing border template is in a template folder as part of the design projects...it is NOT editable...so it has to be edited outside the template folder.
I am drawing an airfoil profile in Inventor for use in a CFD package. I have a system of points which I am plotting and connecting via the spline function and extruding them to form my blade profile. However, when I open the drawing in the CFD programme, it is recognising the spline as a series of straight lines instead of one continuous enclosed shape. The CFD programme I am using require a negative (i.e a solid drawing of where fluid is flowing). I have attached the inventor file I have created.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a folder that contains subfolders, then more subfolders. All these folders contain Inventor files. There are few different models there with drawings and related files...
I need to make an exact copy of the folder at different location in Vault. To use Copy Design tool, I would need to do it few times, as there are few totally separate files in the folders.
Now, is there a way of taking main folder with its all contants and just copying/renaming it to other location? It would save me lot of time.
Surley there is a way to import styles to your current dwg. How to do that?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am able to easily import sanitary sewer pipe and structure information from existing GIS information using the import wizard. I do have one issue that I can't figure out how to fix: even though I match the material field in the GIS shapefile to the material field in the import wizard, the material for the imported pipe network defaults to concrete pipe. I have tried updating the shapefile and the part in Part Builder so that the material information matches exactly, but it still happens. I can work around this by selecting "Swap Part" for each pipe and then selecting the correct pipe material and diameter, but this can be tedious when dealing with a lot of pipes.
how to get the pipe material to import correctly?
I went to import some line label styles from my template with the Style manager and found about they were grayed out. For some reason the curve styles were not. Why would this be? The new drawing only had a standard line label style.

I'm having issues with my toolbox--> Subscription Extension Manager--> Utilities--->Import styles and settings for Civil 3d 2011.
I'm getting:
Command: _AeccUiImportStylesAndSettings
Unknown command "AECCUIIMPORTSTYLESANDSETTINGS". Press F1 for help.
It's really annoying. I'm back to using the regular command line.
Is there anyway of fixing this? All the other commands work except this one and it works on my co-worker's machine. I tried switching workspaces, rebooting etc etc. Nothing seems to solve it.

who has a specific layer assigned for the water drop routine verify if you get the same results.
If I take a file that has the layer assigned (C-TINN-WSHD) and import my template using the "Manage-Import styles" it corrupts the layer to (AcDbObjectId::kNull), then when I save the drawing and reopen it's reset to layer (0).
Pretty obvious but this only happens when "Import Settings" is toggled on, but it shouldn't be corrupting the layer if on.
Both files have the same settings and layers in each, so it's not looking for something that isn't there.

I open two different drawings, I'll call X and Y. I make X current. Using the setting tabs of the prospector I go to Y drawing and click the plus and open the styles i want to insert into X drawing. So for example I open <General <Label Styles <Note Elevation and drag that style into my X drawing. I go and look at my X drawing <General <Label Styles <Note and see that Elevation is not there.
I have tried using AeccImportStylesAndSettings and also I'm running the sincpac which has an import civil styles function that does not work either. I went to a co-workers machine and he can get the styles import function to work just fine.
why I may not be able to get this to work? I even tried to create a new layout from template and still could not get beyond the styles that are default to my current drawing. My only option is to create the styles manually and that is, well, not an option.
I'm trying to import some label and table styles from another drawing and can't seem to do it. I followed the tutorial offered here until I got to the "Manag" ribbon in my Civil 3D and found that the Styles "import Export" option is not there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI import a csv file into my drawing and all the points and figures get drawn correct and on the correct layers.
But I end up getting some extra things also:
1. a little white circle comes in from the marker styles. it comes in on layer V-SURV-NTWK
2. i also get an extra white line that comes in on layer 0.
I have stopped these things from happening now by hitting the light bulb for the "basic" Marker Style and the "basic" Feature Line Styles. But i would really like to know what the Marker Style and Feature Line Styles are and what they are there for.
I've got a project that we made some changes to several of our Civil 3D styles. I'm trying to use the Manage/Import Civil 3D styles utility to update my template. It's not working. When the dialog comes up, it shows me what styles are new with a green plus sign next to it. It does not show me the items that are in conflict (changed). Once I process it, the new style does get added to my template but the modified styles did not come over.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen you use the Import Survey Data wizard it automatically creates a point group that goes to the top of the list. This used to be created with a standard point style and description, but something has changed and I'm getting a different symbol and label that I definitely don't want as the default. I would think that this would be controled by the CreatePointGroup settings, but that isn't working for me. I can't find any other settings that would override or control this.

I opened a new 3dsMax file and Import/Merge an object in it. When I opened the "Material Editor" Window of the new file, it is empty.
How can I get the material of the merged object? Is there a way to import/merge an object and their materials as well?

After the import it shows the differnt meshes, but underneath each mesh it has the same material name.
If i click on the material tab, it show a whole bunh of materials, but when i click them nothing gets selected, only when i click the 'default' material the whole model gets selected
is there away to change the individual mesh's materials manually,
I am usually fine with changin the materials by going to visibility settings- imports and changing the materials.
However I have a file where I cannot change the material no matter what I do. I tried importing it as a family, I tried exploding the dwg, I tried setting the layers to 'color by layer'. It is beyond me
There is another file where I can only change some layers but not the others.
We work with prototype buildings that can have material color variations from site to site. For example, a brick version of a prototype can have several different brick palettes from which to choose.
I'm thinking fo creating generically-named materials in the prototype set - Brick-Base and Brick-Accent, for example - with the idea that the specific material data for the function can be changed for each site-specific building.
While this certainly can be done manually, is there a way to import material data - and not just rendering appearance data but all of the data - into a model, either from another model or better yet, from some sort of data file? Ideally you would only import the materials for which you need to change the data.
I have a problem trying to import objects to load their correct material properties. The textures are all there but I have to reset there specular properties everytime. Even if I import the same object straight after I export it with the materials properly set, I still have to reset them all over again. Is there a setting somewhere like in Customize that I can change to make the objects maintain their properties on import?

I am placing a Word document into InDesign CS6, and no matter what options I choose in the import options, the font styles are not imported into InDesign At the same time, InDesign CS3 imports all the styles perfectly from any Word file.
Can't seem to locate the Inventor Material Library....under Default in Projects, the Inventor Material Library is highlighted in Red. Where I need to browse to inorder to locate it?
