The company I work for is looking into buying new AutoCAD software due to upgrading computers. We don't use 3D commands at all and are looking into purchasing the LT version for budgeting reasons. What we are trying to find out now is if you can export and import SHP files from GIS ESRI software. Are you able to edit the SHP files if necessary?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI created a new line type from a shape file. When i drew this linetype and then exported the drawing to pdf, I received the error message in the picture. It said the SHX files are missing, but when I looked in the folder, the SHX files were still there.
When export to pdf completed, I was left with a broken shape shown in the attached pdf.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI thought I'd share a little discovery we made here yesterday. Before we upgraded to Inventor 2013, there was a lot of fuss and hesitation due to 2013 not having the AMDT import wizard functionality. This lack of functionality was also confirmed by our VAR.
I can confirm that Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 DOES have the usual Mechanical Desktop import wizard.
I can also confirm that it still doesn't bring in extruded text :-)
I've attached a collection of screenshots as proof.

I am able to write XMP into JPG files, and provide sidecar XMP files for RAW (CR2) and MOV/MP4/MTS files, writing my hierarchical keyword information into the xmp-dc:Subject and xmp-lr:HierarchicalSubject fields.
LR4 seems to read the XMP keywords from the JPG and RAW files just fine and re-creates my keyword hierarchy.
LR4 seems to ignore on import the XMP for the non-image files such as the MOV/MP4/MTS files for which I have provided sidecar files.
LR4 also does not write out XMP files for the non-image files, when I use save Medatada.
Does LR4 just ignore import/writing XMP for these non-image files?

This autocad dwg has no real intelligence in it.I can make shp files in autocad, that seem to work of for lines, I can do a data extraction for points and texts and import the spread sheets, that works too. I want to minimize the amount of editing we will need to do to the new map in gis by importing the line sizes, pipe type from cad.

I recently completed a new parts list style - which I thought would be nice to use in some other idw's. So I exported it and saved it as "XXX BBB". Its original name was "XXX AAA".
When I go into another idw and import it I get it coming in as "XXX AAA" - even though I'm importing "XXX BBB".
Inventor Professional 2014.
Windows 7 64 bit.

the spreadsheet is a list containing part numbers for purchased components, therefore the list must be filled with information from iproperty. But it has to be where the next available number is. i had this working in iLogic, but have to move it to VBA for better use. the code that worked in iLogic is this one.:
