View 2 RepliesI have access to the educational version of Autocad Civil 3D 2014. I am familiar with the program, but unfortunatley I can't access the Planning and Analysis Workspace in the workspace pulldown menu. Infact I can't find it anywhere. How I can download it? Or even customize my own tab so that I have a similar layout to the planning and analysis workspace

Is it possible to be modified so that a Slope analysis is exported/imported and how easy/difficult it is to do (or even make the alterations themselves!).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently made a custom Tool Palette that contains all of our most commonly used Assemblies in our office on my PC. I then exported the Paleette to a location on our network and tried to import it onto another workstation. The Palette imported correctly and all of the assemblies are visible. However, when an assembly is attempted to be inserted into a drawing nothing is inserted.
Upon insertion the properties menu box shows up indicating that it is closed or locked..."do you wish to continue".
Is there a step that I am missing on importing or exporting of assemblies or Palettes?
I'm trying to import some label and table styles from another drawing and can't seem to do it. I followed the tutorial offered here until I got to the "Manag" ribbon in my Civil 3D and found that the Styles "import Export" option is not there.

View 4 Replies View RelatedUsing Storm and Sanitary Analysis from a wastewater industry model? I have been looking into that but have run into a problem regarding units (using metric units). When importing data from wastewater industry model into SSA it assumes that pipe dimensions are given in meters and subbasins area are given in ha. My data is in mm and sqr.m.
Can I define what units to use when importing this data??
If I import GIS data (shp files) I can define what units the data is in.
Using 2013 versions of Map and SSA.
I need cross section information of a creek for a Hydrology program (DRAINS in Australia) and need to extract this from a surface I have created in Civil 3D. I require the Chainage and Level for a profile which represents the creek cross section at several specific locations. The information is essentially the data bands in a Profile which I can create, however I cannot see how to obtain this information in a form I can use.
the format of the data can be copy and pasted into Excel from which I can directly import the information into the software.
I'm trying to create a simple 2x4 ceiling grid hatch for layout planning, but AutoCAD keeps giving me an error when I try to use it.
Here's the custom hatch that I wrote at the very end of the acad.pat file:
*CGRID, 2x4 grid
0, 0,0, 0,48
90, 0,0, 0,24
When I load up ACAD, it shows the hatch in the selection, but after I've defined the area and I try to apply the hatch, I get this error in the command line:
Missing parameter on line 385.
Am working in River Analysis dwg and go to save and get message "One or more objects cannot be saved to the specified format."
What's the deal?
Where can we find documentation or tutorials on the River Analysis package as it is with IDSU 2014?
We are in the middle of a few projects using BOSS's RiverCAD but with the new 2014 License files we can no longer use the AutoCAD 2010 that ran with RiverCAD.
So, I'm scrambling to get my user up and running with River Analysis and how (if possible) to port our RiverCAD projects to River Analysis with as little pain as possible.
I have to admit, I don't use RiverCAD and have not yet installed IDSU 2014. (I'm making the deployment now).
I'd really like to ditch having to support AutoCAD 2010 and RiverCAD....

I have a large 200+ acre site that I have created a volume surface and analyzed it using the elevation banding with color to show different levels of cut and fill. The owner has broken this area into 10 different irregular zones. Is there a way to do the elevation banding of a volume surface and have it color the individual parcels. They don't all have to be at once. I can do each one at a time and PDF the drawing.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow do I use Civil 3D to do basic pipe analysis computations? For example, I give it the slope, material, etc. and it spits out the flow velocity, flow depth, slope min, etc.
All I want for now is a basic tool for sizing pipes without all the bells, loops & whistles. I can learn the fancy pipe networking stuff later.
I can not get the slope analysis to come up with 10 slope ranges. My ranges are set to 10, but my Range details populate to 22? Screen Cap included. I've tried this with Equal Interval, Quartile, and Standard Deviation. Nothing will create 10 intervals.
My "slope analysis" surface style is set to show Slope, with the range set to 10. In surface properties, my range is set to 10.
We have an "original" existing surface of a ditch, a massive ditch. dredging has taken place and now we have a new existing surface of the ditch. the client wanted to see the delineation between the areas that are now 3" lower, 6" lower and 9" lower (and so on). I was able to do this easily with elevation banding. now the client would like some sort of GPS uploadable based on the color map that shows the banding. How to accomplish this without having someone set there and set points along the different colors on the surface. that is going to be incredibly time consuming. is there an automated way to export the data that I am looking for?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIt appears color transparency for surface analysis is now broke in 2013. It used to work in 2011 because I use to bring in Lidar data and run elevation analysis over top of aerial photos. I never found any type of resolution. Is Autodesk aware and are they working on this?
This issue reminds me of the Point Cloud issue with Lidar data right after 2013 came out. It worked in 2011 just fine and then 2013 they broke it. After calls to autodesk support and thread exchanges plus several months of waiting, service pack 2 for 2013 fixed the lidar classification issue.
I've tried to create a surface analysis by using a point group reading xdata to set the elevations and when I set my surface properties to display the elevation shades it will only allow me to set the range to 5 or less. All of the other analysis settings for direction, slope, and slope arrows allow me to input the nuber of ranges I want, but I need the elevation analysis.

Maybe even if there is a quick way to apply slope labels to a surface based on a grid - say the slope from N0.00, E0.00 to N0.00 to E 25.00

I am modeling an existing storm system that is under capacity. After running the model, some of the flows seem to be incorrect. I have one section that has a known flow of 1.31 cfs. The results for this pipe section shows 28.82 cfs (peak flow during analysis) and 6.06 cfs (design flow capacity). The pipe section is a 15" with constructed slope of 0.0088 ft/ft. The max velocity attained is 23.48 ft/sec. I know that the downstream is undersized. Could this flow rate be caused by the downstream backflows? The model is setup as hydrodynamic and rational method. My inertial terms are set at ignore, time step = 0, junction surface area = 0 and variable time step with safety factor 75%. I have gutter bypass flows and my sag structures have ponded area set at 100.

We have to compute the average elevation along the front, sides and rear of a proposed building envelope to calculate the required set back.
Right now I am setting FL with elevation nodes at the required interval, assigning EG elevation and pasting from the panorama to excel to compute the average.
Is there a way I could create a toolbox report to do this? Maybe even from a profile report?

We are being requested by more municipalities to perform a hydraulic analysis on the water system before we can extend water to the site. This is very crude doing it by hand. I have seen different softwares available that run inside of Civil 3D that will perform the hydraulic analysis. How others were performing hydraulic analysis.

I am working on a commercial development with multiple large tenants with multiple standards. To begin to verify the preliminary grading is in compliance, I use the slope arrow surface analysis type.
Due to my multiple standards, I find myself changing these values frequently. My question : Is there a way to make the slope arrow the default analysis type when you are in the surface properties dialog box?
I know it is not a major issue, but it is annoying and repetitive, having to go to the list box, and select slope arrow over and over again. One workaround I have considered to avoid this maddening situation is to make two surfaces, with each criteria assigned to the surface properties and simply paste the main surface into each. Then control which is visible based on what I need to look at.
I need to create 3 hr storms for use in SCS analysis. I created new .pcp files and.cds files. The .cds file has three hours worh of preciptauon ratios establihed by the City I'm working in. The .pcp has the new total inches in the Custom row. The calculations seem to rum OK; but I am getting a negative outflow in the table at the 50 % point (not on the curve). I've looked a the distribution table and there is nothing funny going on around the half way point.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was undertaking a cut and fill analysis but the values were very different. Evaluating spot levels the depth was given as 1.2m but the volume surface stated it was only .6m.
After a while I noticed that the master surface had been "corrupted" duing a recovery, all definitions to the controlling corridor and other objects had been removed and a snapshot added with the description "added during recovery".
I had to remove the surface and start from scratch re-building the definitions.

I have the River Analysis tools installed for C3D 2014 and any time I open a drawing, a reach is automatically created in the file. This is really annoying because it puts it down at the coordinates (0,-500) which pretty much makes zoom extents a useless command now.
Is this as designed? If it is as designed, how to turn it off?
