I know we can edit the label directly and add/remove text, but is there way to change the appearance of the label as well, with say a sketched symbol or other graphical representation like a balloon or other customized image?

I would like to have that underneath the view.
I know can drag it down there, but is there a way to have the annotation underneath the view when its created? would save me and the rest who is going to use the template a lot of time..

Jun 21, 2012I'd like to customize the way our section marker terminators look. More like an architactual style drawing.
I'd also like to add the sheet number that the section is cut from to the section view label.
As far as I can tell, this propertie is not available for insertion in the view lable. Is there a way to make it available?
The need for these changes come from larger drawing sets were the section is cut on one sheet and shown on another. We'd like to link the sheet numbers in both the section marker terminator and view label.

Aug 12, 2013In my section editor my labels show up correctly and in all the locations I want. But then, in my cross section file, I look in my section views and they are completely different. When I try to label more points under the Code Set Styles, they won't even show up on my section views.

I have a routine that will create a quick leader and text from the object layer that it selects.
Layer EX-PAVEMENT ----> the quick leader call out would label it as Existing Pavement.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: When Publishing A Sheet Set Some Of Annotation Labels Are Not Showing Up
Jan 9, 2013When publishing a sheet set some of my annotation labels are not showing up. If I open the sheet, they are there, set to print and everything is correct. If I print just that sheet, everything is fine. Only happens in publish. It's almost like the publish command isn't giving the drawing enough time to open and load everything before printing.

Aug 17, 2012we have this issue that has affected us in Revit 2011 and 2012. For many of our families we have a 3D object, a 2d representation of symbolic lines, and then some editable text/annotation:
- The text is a Generic Annotation annotation family, with a single label, set to display the parameter "Text Frame"
- This family is then inserted into the family of the specific object being created, with, under label's Type Properties, the "Text Frame" of the label being linked with a "Text" parameter in the object family.
This seems to work all fine and dandy, however, we're getting an interesting problem: after working in the file for a while some percentage of the annotation on these families disappear in a view. Sometimes it's just a few, sometimes half, sometimes all of them just go away (everything else, including the symbolic lines, are still there). If you close the file and re-open, they will re-appear. If you nudge them, they will re-appear. Other views may still have them, at least for a time... then they too will dissapear.
This happens both on screen and, dangerously, during printing. You print a whole set, only to discover much of your annotation for objects is gone... (not to mention the cost and waste of trees when you re-print).
Is this a known problem (search only turned up one thread on this), or is there another way to do what I want (have editable annotation on a family) that avoids this issue and I stubmled onto the improper way of doing it?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section Sheets Annotation Scale?
Mar 29, 2012I have created section sheets in C3D 2012. My sections look fine in model space and my template comes in in paper space with my template and the proper viewport (viewport scale is 1:200). My annotation scale in model space is 1:250 and everything looks fine. My problem is, in paper space, the sections themselves looks fine but the annotation is way out to lunch (see attachment). I've tried playing with the scales but can't seem to find a solution.

Apr 19, 2012I'm working in 2011 and I'm having a difficult time labeling the section views. Labels are showing up on the retaining wall which I did not assign any labels to in the codes. Also, the vertical faces are labeled on the wall and sidewalks. I am not sure if the assembly or corridor settings are controlling this or if it in the code.

I can figure out how to make them all one or the other, but am having trouble getting them to reflect correctly based on where they are attached.I am having trouble coming up with the actual expression or you can do it thru code set styles, but regardless of settings that I change nothing on the cross section view changes.

Issue #1:
I added the dimension to show that the bottom of the cross section is actually at 97.5 but is labeled as 98
Issue #2:
I would prefer the bottom of the cross section to be at an even elevation (98 not 97.5)
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Multiple Cross Section Labels?
Jan 31, 2013Using 2011 - Having trouble with cross section labeling. I have multiple label markers such as ROW, and multiple EASEMENT types. I've created corridors for each label type - each will show up if their corridor has a corridor section line at the same station as the base corridor, but at odd ball stations (like driveway openings) the labels do not show up, I'm thinking its because I don't have these corridor section lines in each corridor. Is there an easier work around rather than manually adding the section lines in each corridor?

Oct 16, 2012I have a section view base map that has labeling at the grade breaks of a corridor section. (see correct labels image)
I made a minor change to the alignment the corridor is using and when I opened my section base, most of the section view labels were messed up. (see messed up labels image)
Some views were missing labels and in others, they were grouped together in a lump.
The settings I am using are in the third image. If I checked either the start or end offset box, then unchecked it and closed the dialog, the labels would fix themselves.For reference, there are about 300 section views in this base drawing.

Dec 18, 2013I am using Civil 3D 2014. I have a section view style that specifies 10-ft majors, displaying text labels for 10-ft majors. However, per the attached image, my section view shows the first label at a 5-ft interval and I have another that does not show the top 10-ft major.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section Labels From Surface Features Lines
Jun 27, 2012Often we build a design surface from feature lines and possibly a grading or two. Then we cut sections.
Now, for set out, and especially for smaller contractors who don't have fancy survey gear, it would be really nice to be able to show design surface levels in section bands BUT ONLY AT THE SURFACE-DEFINING FEATURE LINE LOCATIONS.
I am aware that we can use grade breaks...but this gives us band data at each triangle intercept which is too much data. We can weed this data, but that is indiscriminate and I really need only the data at the surface-defining geometry points (feature line locations.)
We can also use station/elevation labels on the section views but this is time-consuming and non-dynamic. Band labels are dynamic and more or less automatic...if only we could get the discrete locations we need labelled.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pipe Labels Disappear In Section View
Aug 12, 2009C3D 2009. I have a style that labels the pipe diameter in section view and the type of pipe. When I label the pipe everything shows up fine. Save the drawing and re-open and my labels are gone. I can see them when is opening but after it regenerates, gone. All layers are on display set to true. Tried too many different things and no success. This issue only happens in two drawings.

I see the panel and the buttons, but nothing happens when I click on them.
The documentation says that in order to listen to the events of my buttons I should declare a "Private WithEvents ButDef As ButtonDefinition", but it when I try I get an error message "Only valid in object module"
Another question, still related to the events, I would expect to find a _StartUp event where I should run my function, but I can't find that event.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Section An Assembly In Breakout But Not Section
Sep 24, 2013In the drawing view below, I want to section the green assembly only within the red section. I've tried this with a breakout and it doesn't work. There doesn't seem to be a way to exclude the green from the section and yet include it in the breakout.
