AutoCAD Inventor :: Sun Shadows In Animation
Apr 24, 2012I have a tracking solar array - 2 axis of movement. But always normal to the sun. Is there a way to show the shadows from the sunlight throughout the day? A bmp is attached.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Ground Plane And Ambient Shadows?
Aug 3, 2012Whenever I open a part (or iam), the ground plane and ambient shadows are active. If I turn them off (on View tab, appearance panel) and exit the part, then reopen it again, the ground plane and ambient shadows are active again.
How do I save these appearance settings? Do I have to turn these off EVERYTIME I open a part?
I didnt see anything in the app options for this.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Ray Tracing Not Applying Shadows Or Lighting Correctly
Oct 10, 2012Just started having a play with ray tracing in Inventor 2013 Pro & I'm quite impressed how quickly you can get a rendered view of a model. However, it seems no matter how I set up the lighting or the shadows in the 'Settings' menu when I click on 'Tay Tracing' it seems to default back to some original settings. The shadows & lighting in any of the drop down menus don't seem to be applied. eg. I select 'Two Lights' from the menu, then select 'Settings' I then adjust the shadows & the lights from within the menu. It all looks good on the screen & click Ray Tracing & everything that I've done doesn't get applied? However, when I cancel & stop the Ray Tracing the shadows & Lights are still there.

Aug 16, 2012For some reason regardless of what I save or the fact that I've saved the template files, everytime I open a new file it automatically adds shadows and applies perspective view. This is extremely annoying. How do I alter the default settings to be ortho with no shadows?

Jun 28, 2012How can I export an animation that I have created in Inventor Studio and Import into Showcase? I see that Showcase creates an *.fbx file when it imports my Inventor Assembly, but somehow the results I get are different every time I import.
After some time I discovered that "Verhalten" seems to contain the animation from Inventor, but there are always some parts missing in the animation where Showcase (2012) doesn´t recognize that there are other parts connected to that one moving part.
It´s all constrained in Inventor and behaves like it should either in the assembly and in the studio environment.

Feb 17, 2012Im having trouble animating an assembly i made. It is a twin cylinder foot pump for car tyres, nothing special. When i try and animate it i have trouble getting the pump to move. When trying to animate constraints it doesn't like it and parts move about all over the place. I've also tried animating parts and this doesn't work either.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Saving Animation As WMV
Nov 25, 2013But why is it that I can only seem to save an animation in Inventor Studio (2014) as a .wmv (or Windows Media File)? Shouldn't I have the options for saving it as other types such as an .avi or the like?
I could have sworn I was able to in past releases. I should be able to save it as such, so where oh where is the setting that is dictating this?
Note: This animation is a cross section, not a shaded, realistic type with lighting and camera details to worry about.
AutoCAD Inventor :: 6-axis Robot Animation
Mar 29, 2012I'm trying to animate a 6-axis robot in Inventor 2012 Pro, which moves to about 10 different locations. I'm using parameters to drive the constraints to position the wrist, and I have several different positional representations with unsuppressed / modified constraints. When I try to animate between the positional reps in IV Studio, the parts just snap into place instead of interpolating between each location. Also, I have to manually enter the timing for each step, instead of just entering the max angular velocity of each joint.
Would it be easier to create the animation in dynamic simulation using a spatial joint at the wrist? I'd like for the positions to still be modifiable through the parameters.

Jun 7, 2012I created *.ipn file and I tried to record the animation AVI file. After I finished playing the animation, I can see the AVI file was created but with 0KB, the avi is empty and cannot open.
I have no problem to create AVI file in my laptop but have such problem in my office's desktop computer.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Render Animation Time
Aug 28, 2012I have a simplistic model (4 parts, 10 or so screws) that I am trying to render an animation through using Studio with the lowest possible output settings, my concern is that the render time is extraordinary long even for the most basic of assembly, why is this ? I have also tried the animate when in an IPN file which does improve render time but the quality is not very good.
I will now try using keyframe animation in Showcase to see if I can get an animation with good quality completed within the hour !

Jun 3, 2010I just installed IV 2011 and I am trying to record an animation in my .ipn file to a .wmv file. When I hit the record icon I give it a .wmv file name, hit save. Choose custom profile and set my bandwidth to (Custom) 500 and my pixel size to 1200 x 900 and hit OK. Then the animation dialogue box comes up and the record button is not depressed like it is supposed to be. I can record it with the default settings, but it looks horrible.

Jul 26, 2012I've been working in Inventor Studio (Inventor 2011) & every time I exit & return to the assembly environment I receive an error message (refer attached). Plus if I don't move the animation timeline back to the beginning prior to exiting, my model will display in its finished position but on the timeline be at the beginning when I go back into Studio.

-The codec you selected to compress this AVI video stream cannot handle the current screen color depth and/or the graphics frame size. Please try another codec.
-Then I press OK and it records but the AVI file is empty and no video is watchable.
What can I do?
I'm using Autodesk Inventor 2012 ans a windows 7 64bit brand new computer with Nvidia graphic card.
