AutoCAD Inventor :: Standard Drawing Symbols - Main Rev Balloons / Triangles

Jul 5, 2012

The company I am working for has dragged their CAD kicking and screaming into the late nineties and have upgraded to 3D! Recreate their drawings using 3D models, I have noticed the symbol gallery doesn't provide such things as Rev Balloons or Rev Triangles.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Finding Missing BOM Balloons In Drawing

Jul 16, 2013

We want to ensure that a balloon callout exists for every item in the parts list (BOM) in our assembly drawings.  Is there a way to easily do this?

Currently, if we have an assembly with 30 parts, we manually search for each of the 30 BOM balloon to verify that none were missed.  Since the balloons are not in order, balloon 5 could be on page 2 while 6 is on page 8.  This method is often time-consuming and error prone.

It probably goes without saying, but if ballons are missed, then assemblers have nothing to show them were the parts go and either come ask us or guess.

I am struggling to edit the standard set of blocks that comes with AutoCAD such as receptacles junction boxes etc. I want to edit the standard blocks and then save my changes for future use. Right now the blocks come in at different sizes then I would like. I try to edit them in the block editor however the changes I make do not apply to any other or new drawings that I make.

I have attached an image of the differing symbols and sizes. I want them to be consistently sized.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Drawing Active Standard

Dec 16, 2008

I'm new to the style library and how to take an existing drawing that was created on one standard, and changing it to another standard I just created. The new standard has different dimension styles, text, and layers. I've added all the styles to my style library and I've set the new standard to the active standard in both the styles and standards editor and the document settings. If I create a new view, it comes in on the new standard, but the existing views are still on the old. How to I get the existing views on the new standard?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Constrain User Defined Symbols Within Drawing

Oct 11, 2012

I have created various symbols to be placed into drawings when required, rather than having to re-create the same sketch every time the drawing is produced.

When I place the symbol I am given the option to select where to insert it, based on the insertion point. The problem is... once the symbol is placed there is no way (that I can figure out) to constrain to the view or dimension to it.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Change Active Drawing Standard With ILogic

I am trying to have one drawing with B size and E size sheets I am trying to get the border, title block and standard to change when the sheet format changes. I can get it to work when I run the rule but have hard time find information to just change when sheet format changes. And I can't find anything or I should say a sample of how to. AutoCAD Inventor :: Drawing Standard Geometry With Multiple Dimension Values?

Jan 27, 2012

I am currently endeavoring to translate some (very) old print drawings of standard geometry used by my company to electronic format with Inventor. Many of these standards include a matrix of certain dimensions (noted by a letter variable on the drawing, such as "A") and what their values should be, given the required size of the geometry's main feature, like the cross section of an o-ring that is supposed to go with it. Is it possible to build such variable/multiple value dimensions in Inventor and have a corresponding matrix printed on the drawing with it?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Change Drawing Dimension Text And Symbols Font With ILogic

Nov 2, 2012

I was looking to change the fonts in a drawing for the Dimensions and Symbols that might have been inserted in the Dimension text entries.

This can be done manually bu editing the dimentions text after placemement, but I was ooking to set this as a default.. I cannot see where exactly this is controlled in the Styles Manager - I am only able to change the Dimension text font but the diameter symbol font is always on AIGDT.

I was therefore looking for an iLogicvb code that could do the trick, but I am not able to even change the dimension fonts... The code runs with no errors but nothing gets updated in the drawing...

Dim oDoc As DrawingDocument
oDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument
Dim oSheet As Sheet
oSheet = oDoc.ActiveSheet

[Code]....

Edge Animate CC :: How To Start And Turn On Symbols From Buttons On Main Timeline

Mar 5, 2014

1. I have my timline. There is a button. I have made a symbol. This symbol should not be visible at the start. If I click the button it should make the symbol visible and start it.

So... What is the code I should give my button? Should the sybol be on the timeline? Should it be turned off or should I just turn off autoplay?

What I have so far is:

The symbol is in the timeline. It is set "on" and I can make it play with:

sym.getSymbol("mySymbol").play(0);

So far so good. My problem now is that the symbol should be over my button. So it is not possible to press it. So logically the symbol should be turned "off" (then I can click the button under it) and when I click the button the symbol should turn on and then play. So actually what is the code to turn it "on"?

2. I have a button in a symbol. Can this button controll the main timeline. It should for example got to frame Number 30 on the main timeline. Is that possible? What is the code I have to give the button?

I tried so many stuff and it wont work. I am new to edge and java script etc.

AutoCad 3D :: Drawing Of Jug - Tessellation Lines Showing As Triangles

Jun 23, 2011

I have created a drawing of a jug from a CAD learning manual, however when I enter HIDE mode the tessellation lines show as triangles, not rectangles as shown on the image in my book.

It appears fine before HIDE (horizontal and vertical lines only) -- I've tried FACETRES but that just creates a higher amount of triangles during hide.

Is there a way to adjust how it's shown in HIDE mode?

I have attached 2 images (or tried to!):
1 - Before HIDE.
2 - After HIDE.

I need 2 to look like 1 on the surface.

I want to add the Balloon Renumbering function to our templates using iLogic, but when I run it I get an error message saying: "The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG))". I have narrowed it down and think it has to do with the following line: partInfo(i - 1).Number = drawBOMRow.Item(itemColumn).Value. When I remove that line I don't get an error message, but every balloon is set to item no 0. The function I want to achieve with the code is to renumber separate part files against the assembly BOM.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Ballooning Wiring / Split Balloons

May 17, 2010

(check out the attached .bmp for clarity)

I need to either add a custom balloon to a 3D wiring harness (made of individual wires) or add a split balloon (showing item number then sheet number) to my layout. What I have now is a 3D harness with all my connectors shown on it and a balloon calling out what connector it is. I want to attach a custom split balloon to my connector callouts to reference the wire and sheet number of another sheet in the same project. I should also mention that there are tons of connectors that as far as Inventor is concerned is the same model.

I've already created a user symbol to attemp to work around it but I can't attach the custom symbol to the existing balloon.

Secondly, why can't I attached a balloon to the 3D harness anyway. I also can't add a balloon to the nailboard view either!

AutoCAD Inventor :: Balloons To Call Out Custom Properties?

Oct 31, 2013

I want my custom property to defined as item #. That Item # then is represented in the balloon.

reasoning is that then engineers wont have to check drawings anymore for the guess work involved in matching the part balloon to each individual part in the assembly being called out.

I can then focus on creating a BOM that shows the different item#'s and the user can quickly go through it.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Choose Continue When Placing Balloons Or Leader Text

Jul 10, 2012

In Inventor 2012, you could choose Balloon, select a part, click at some location and the Balloon was placed and finished. Now in Inventor 2013 you have to right-click and choose Continue. The same applies, when you want to place a Leader Text (and maybe elsewhere as well).

Why do we suddenly have to make two additional clicks compared to Inventor 2012. It doesn't work, that you can press Enter instead of the additional mouse clicks.

And why is the Open Drawing moved to second level. The Marking Menu is of no use, especially not in the tree browser.

Why do you Inventor designers make such changes that make Inventor more annoying to operate compared to the previous version. It should be the other way around....like the brilliant inclusion of Open Drawing.
