When I either attach or overlay my Xrefs they always appear dark in my drawing; is this normal? If I open the file (that I am xreferencing in) it is very clear.
View 3 RepliesI have inserted an xref but when it shows on my drawing the whole thing is shaded dark. When I look at the xref the colours are fine, until its on my drawing. I inserted it on its own layer.
Does it matter what colour I assign to that layer? I tried different colours but it changes nothing. What does that allocated colour determine?
what I'm doing wrong when the plan I'm trying to 'x-ref' into the main drawing appears all stretched (and massively overscaled).?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting that would cause a xref to detach itself when the drawing is closed? I have an existing model, went through the time to relocate all the attachments.
Once everything is attached I save my work close it out and move to another area, when I open up the model I was working on before with all the attachments that I had located, the xrefs are no longer attached and I must redo all the work that was done previously.
I am trying to bind an Xref into my working drawing. Whenever I try to perform this command, an error message appears that says "Some objects in the specified Xref(s) failed to bind." No list of objects has been provided. I have tried exploding, purging and auditing both the Xref and the working drawing to make sure there are no extranneous objects in the files, but the message keeps appearing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe have just started to use Autocad Architecture 2012 however when we add an xref we get a location insertion position error.
The original drawing xref is created at 0,0,0 and the drawing we are referencing into is also created with the same points. If we paste a point from 0,0,0 to the original co-ordinates it looks fine. However when we add the xref to another file the xref seems to come in at insertion point x 70484.84995973 and insertion point y 16146.53159634
Is there any way of sorting this out as we would like to use 0,0,0 as the xref insertion point?
I have a drawing where I have placed all of my natural gas piping. I have all of the annotative blocks set to 3/32"=1'-0" and 1/32"=1'-0" scales. They are both correctly displayed in this drawing.
When I xref this drawing into another about half of the 1/32" blocks show up correctly. The other half are shifted to the right off of the plan. All of the 3/32" blocks show up correctly.
Any variables that would cause my XREF paths to change from Full Path to Relative Path when I save a drawing?
This is something that just started happening recently and has me completely at a loss. I haven't installed any patches or hot fixes recently and nothing else has changed that I'm aware of.
When I lock my x-ref's they become dark and hard to see and when I unlock them they are still dark and hard to see. How can I fix this? I'm using Autocad 2012.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have several script commands that insert items such as title blocks (xrefs) and page boundaries (blocks). The base point and INSBASE for all files are set to 0,0,0. However the blocks will occassionally come in at different positions. In some cases I can repeat the command multiple times and each time the same block will inset at a different position in the same drawing even though the insert point is set to 0,0,0.

I create a block where coordinate 0,0 is my base/insertion point (which is established in an orientation that is to the lower-left of my blocks line work). In a new drawing I insert that block and specify coordinate 0,0 as my insert point. Instead of my insertion point being in the lower left it is in the upper right. I run into this in new version and old version drawings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are having an issue while inserting blocks from the tool palette. Inserting a block from the tool palette takes about 5 seconds per block. Pick a block, wait 5 seconds, pick insertion point. Last week it took maybe 1 second. It doesn't sound like much, but we use alot of blocks everyday, and waiting 5 seconds everytime gets annoying. Especially when it used to be almost instantanious. We also have our blocks in our template. The template is on the server. If you type insert, and insert the block that way, it loads fast, like it used to using the tool palette.
Most of the blocks are simple text or shapes. None are dynamic. We also have some hatches in there, that are unaffected by the delay. They insert quickly.
Another thing has changed. The time it takes to change to a different tab on the palette has grown. A tab with about 10 blocks used to take about 6 seconds to load, now takes a good 30 seconds. And a tab with about 30 blocks that used to take about 12 seconds, now takes about a minute and a half! Once the tool palette and each tab has been opened for the first time, say first thing in the morning when cad is first opened, the delay is gone. They switch betweeen tabs with no delays.
The only thing that I know of that has changed that coincides with this is last week we made a few changes to the template. We removed a few sheets that we no longer use. Could this have done something? The blocks are still in the template. We have 3 pc's that are affected in the same way, at the same time.
I've tried a few things to remedy this. I am by no means a cad guru. I created a .dwg with all the blocks in it. Made another tab on the tool palette using the blocks from the .dwg. Still the same delay. I tried creating a new palette using the design center and the blocks .dwg I made, but cad locks up on me and I have to restart cad. I tried that twice, same result.
We are running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 on Vista Business 64bit.
I just had to reinstall AutoCAD this week for being a very bad boy. Now, when I switch between open files, my screen goes blank. It takes a regen to get all my stuff to appear again.
It even goes blank in my viewport... I have to go into the viewport and regen separately from the main drawing.
I've got a drawing with multiple base views wich means multiple reference models. In my titleblock i've included the mass of my model through
Type: Physical Properties - Model
Property: MASS
But now it automaticly selects the first placed base model as the model to select the mass. how can i change the 'active' model to another model/base view?
After installing AutoCAD on 3 new Windows 7 workstations, one of them can't find the main dictionary. I can find dictionaries (*.dct) by using the Windows Search function, but when I try to specify a path with the Options command, I'm told that there are "None available". What do I need to do to get a dictionary path loaded?

I have a block that contains attributes. When I select the block, you can see all the nodes/insert points from the attributes within the text. I was wondering if there is anyway to have the block only show the insertion point of the block and not the attributes? The attached image shows what I am talking about.

Sometimes I have MLeader text without Mleaders (ie, I remove the leader arm using MLEADEREDIT). Then when I go to edit this 'floating note', the base point moves:
In this screenshot, I've just finished editing the text. Note that I added in the diagonal line at the current insertion point of the Mleader text (top right):
Then, after I click outside the Mleader box, the text moves:
THis happens only with right-aligned MLeaders, and keeps happening, ie if I edit this text again and close it again, it will move again.
I have several existing block definitions and need to change the insertion point. Also, when creating a new block in the Block Editor, how do I define the insertion point?

The company I am working for has dragged their CAD kicking and screaming into the late nineties and have upgraded to 3D! Recreate their drawings using 3D models, I have noticed the symbol gallery doesn't provide such things as Rev Balloons or Rev Triangles.

What i need to know, is there a way to remove suggested words from the Main DCT file? i.e. word is suppose to be "REFEED", but autocad wants to change it to "REEFED". View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a drawing for a part and am getting annoying flickers from light to dark. What I am seeing happening is that everytime I pan or zoom (in or out) the drawing, the drawing lights up, and remains lit up until I move my mouse cursor over a view. When I do so, the entire drawing turns dark and remains dark until I pan/zoom the drawing again. So I am getting a constant dark - light flicker that I find very distracting.
I am only seeing this in this one drawing, however I do remember having this problem previously. In other drawings I have done, they will either be light (which I correspond to being normal) or the entire drawing will be dark. This I read has to do with the lighting in the source part file, but it never really bothered me.
Im on 2012 Iventor Pro, and Windows 7 Pro. 64bit with SP1.
why my xrefs are coming in really dark ? I like to have a black model space so it's really hard to see them. There must be a setting somewhere.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a Custom CUI Enterprise file that we load in the profile settings (AutoCAD 2008). I transferred it though the CUI Editor and saved it for AutoCAD 2012. When I load it into AutoCAD 2012, the pull down custom pull down menu does not show, with or without the menu bar turned on. I have some partial CUI files that I did the same way. When I load them, and list them in the Main CUI file as such, they show up as expected. I even tried to list the Custom CUI Enterprise file in the same manor, but I get a "read only" type message and it still doesn't show the pull down.
I also thought about transferring it to another CUI file to partial load and not have a Custom CUI Enterprise file.

A question about ex referencing. Can it be done within a drawing. In other words, can I can Xref the plan to another part of model space to then create the elevations in UCS, and then Exref the elevations from USC to a horizontal line.
This would be very useful in the sketch plan stage.
