View 1 RepliesWe are using inventor 2014 LT in our work place and just recieved it. We are a production company that often makes many variations of a single part baised on the indivual job. I was wondering if there was a way to save one part file with multiple configurations so when you pull it into assembly file you select the configuration you want and then place it on the assembly.

strFile = ThisDoc.FileName(False) & "-Rev " & iProperties.Value("Project", "Revision Number")ThisDoc.Document.SaveAs(strFile & (".dwg"), True)ThisDoc.Document.SaveAs(strFile & (".pdf"), True)
And it works like a charm for pdf, but it does not export to .dwg?
And also, is it possible to decide where in the name the "-Rev " &iPro....should appear?
Ex. if the filename should be : "12345 - Rev 02 - Section cut"
How to save IDW's with multiple sheets in to 1 single CAD file
I have IDW's whith lots of sheets and when saved to cad, I got multiple files and I always end up doing copy paste to create a single file
I am using Autodesk Inventor 2013 for the first time. I've installed it but I have no template files when I want to start a new file. I think I may have set up th wrong file locations, "C:UsersPublic1DocumentsAutodeskInventor2013TemplatesStandards.idw was not found" it the message I keep getting.
Where and how should I setup my files, projects and meanings behind what they mean. I am completely lost I think it may be a good idea to start fresh.
I just re-installed windows and all the fine (PITA!) trimmings. Now, when I open a file (any type) for Inventor thru windows explorer it opens a NEW instance of Inventor everytime! This is a HUGE system hog, waste of time ect ect.
How can I correct this to just open in the instance that is already there?

I have generated around 1200 iParts from my drawing and I would like to generate every ipart in an individual ipt. file.
This is easily done by right-clicking the iPart and clicking on Generating Files. But I can't manage to generate all the ipt files in one go. I noticed that I can hold Ctrl and selecting all the iPart, but I would prefer not spending a couple of hours selecting 1200 iPart.
I have my projects in their own folders. When I start a new project, I copy an older project folder and paste to start a new project. I do this so i don't have to start modeling from scratch each time. The problem when i do this is i have to change the name and part number of each file to correspond to the new project number. This takes more time than i would like to spend doing it so is there a program that will let me do this in bulk? (change the part number of all the files through their iproperties) I typically have to use the design assistant and change the part number of each .ipt file one by one.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn testing my latest automation project, I've found that I can't save copies of a part multiple times (after deleteing the files off the disk) unless I close out of the top level assembly document, and reopen it. I used Process Monitor and determined that Inventor is trying to save to an existing file instead of creating a new file.

I have to import multiple files from Solidworks. I don't have any issues with that except that when I import these files they are base files. All the intelligence is wiped out. I know that Solidworks can import Inventor files and keep all of the intelligence in the file. Does Autodesk have translator software that will allow the import of a solidworks file and keep the intelligence used to build the model?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the need filter inside Vault the Inventor Drawings (.dwg/.idw) by its papersize.
In my testing enviroment, I created a iLogic rule inside a .idw with the following
iProperties.Value("Custom", "Formato") = ActiveSheet.Size
I used the Ruler Trigger "After Save Document" to refresh this rule.
In Vault, I've mapped this custom property:
But, how to Copy (and update) this iLogic Rule to the other existing .dwg files in Vault?
I thought the iLogic Design Copy would be able to do so, but it doesn't works in that way.
How to change the color of a bunch of files in an assembly easily? I don't want to open each file (70+) and change them manually only to find out there was an easier way to do it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedCan you save files for 2012 in 2013? I have the ability to upgrade to 2013 while others at my company are not able to, since they were not put on the subscription service. If I upgrade will they still be able to open my files or can I back save to a previous version? I know I can save it as different file type, like .iges or .step, then use feature recognition. But I need them to have full editability to sketches and features.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created master assembly that has rules to 'save as' the assembly and parts to different locations and with different names. This master assy has links to excel file to get different names
In the same way I am looking the drawings (for both assy and parts) needs to be created and 'save as' to different locations. These newly generated drawings should have links to newly created parts/assembly.
I am able to 'save as' the master drawings to different locations but these newly created drawings still has links to master assembly/parts.
So I have 25 years 3d CAD experience. Catia, Alias, Ford PDGS.I have spent 20 hours on Inventor 2013. Great program. Very intuitive. Have been banging out models easily.
My issue however is a Client has given me sone .stp's and Iges files to work with. They open fine as a .iam The issue is saving. I have the project folder setup, go to save.
I Get the "do you want to save changes to "XXXXXXXX.iam" and all its dependants.I select "yes to all".I get the "Yes" under the "Save" Column for all listed .ipt's...I hit OK.......Autodesk attempts to save.
...Then I get the dialogue box up with ! icons "The system cannot find the path specified" - The database in C:Users.........xxxx.ipt could not be saved
I was able to use Inventor "Save Copy As" function to create zgl files. When the zgl files were viewed with "Imagination View" program, some files looked good, while some others do not show any geometry (just white background). Do I need to change anything in the Model before executing "Save Copy As" function?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince we upgraded to Inventor 2012 SP1 on W7 x64 most machines cannot open or save out step or iges files. The translator shows as 'On demand' and when i save copy as the 'options' button is inactive. We just get the standard error 'Problems encountered while saving the document'.
I see lots of old posts but nothing relating specifically to stp files.

I am trying to batch plot to PDF's from a drawing file that has multiple tabs in it. I would like each tab to be a separate PDF file. We are utilizing Acrobat X to write the PDF's. AutoCAD places all of the tabs into one file whether I tell a Multi-sheet file or a Single-sheet file.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a way to plot multiple (over a thousand) DWG files to PDF without doing each one manually. I've played around a little bit but without any luck. I'm using AutoCAD 2002 LT. Is there any way to do this?
I've also got little to no experience with the more complex settings and abilities of autocad so do so in laymans terms.
2002 lt has no general publish (only publish to web) option and how sheet sets work.
how to convert multiple selections to multiple layers or multiple files with one go?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having a catastrophic error in Inventor 2013.
When I attempt to save a drawing I have completed, I cannot save!
Can't save, save as or any other variation of save.
This is my issue every time I click save.
I have just recently installed AutoCAD LT 2014 on Windows 7 (Running on an intel iMac through Bootcamp). Ever since then i am receiving notifications when performing a save.
AutoCAD is telling me it cannot perform the save and is creating a .tmp file in the same location on the server as the file should be.
this is causing major performance issues and happens almost every second time I attempt to perform a save. The issue is that we are getting multiple versions of the same file duplicating on the file server which is very quickly going to cause capacity issues considering most files are 2-4mb in size.
(Inv Pro 2012, XP64, Vaulted Project and Content Center)When I'm placing hardware, the Autodrop function is really convenient. Even better when the "multiple" pickbox is active, which from what I understand is when Inventor finds similar features on the same plane that the selected autodrop component could potentially mate to.
This is a huge time-saver, since I often have lots of bolted joints that all terminate on the same plane. Sometimes however, even when the parts lie in the same "plane", the plane isn't contiguous in that a feature breaks it across. No biggie, it just means I have to do two or three "multi-autodrops".
Once I put washers at the back side of the connections (which multiple works like a charm on), all of a sudden when I go to place nuts, each washer surface is now it's own plane, and multi-drop no longer recognizes all the other parts. This can be a real pain manually placing 30 or 40 nuts at a time.
I think the "Bolted Connection" option might work, but I really don't have a need to store all those subassemblies, name them, keep them vaulted properly, etc. That would be almost as much of a headache.
Also, most of the features that I'm connecting through are created as Hole features and as "nominal" oversized bolt holes as Inventor suggests when the "clearance hole" option is used for hole creation (not randomly extruded islands), but they aren't patterned as they don't follow a prescribed circular or rectangular pattern.
Am I missing something that I can do (like something stupid simple such as holding down the "alt" key or some crazy thing like that) that will allow inventor not just to suggest CONTIGUOUS planar features, but also CO-planar features so I can place all these nuts at once?
Short of creating a custom Content center part that consists of a nut / washer assembly I can't think of anything. And creating and publishing the nut washer assemblies will eat up some time too, since I have about 50 different combinations (some SAE washers with normal hex nuts, some SAE washers with ESNA hex, some USS washers with jam nuts, some USS Type B washers with all-steel locknuts, etc...)
I'm designing a part that in Autodesk Inventor 2013 that is constructed from several layers laminated together. I have 4 layers:
F (front)
M1 (middle, variation one)
M2 (middle, variation two)
B (back)
The final solid will lhave 17 layers laid out like this:
F | M1 | M2 | M1 | M2 | M1 | M2 ... | B
I currently have a part file containing
F | M1 | M2
What's the best way to create this solid if I want to a) keep all instances of M1 and M2 in sync, and b) make it easy to work on all 4 layers. Do I have to export F, M1, M2, and B as individual parts and import them into an assembly or can I keep them in one part file? I really like the ability to be able to work on all the solids at the same time because they're visually dependant on each other.
From all our parts of an assembly we made 1 IDW with multiple sheets. Now we want to convert this IDW to PDF's and in such a way that we have one PDF for each sheet, and each PDF files needs the same name as the sheet.

it's ok for my Photoshop cs6 32bit,but there is not reaction when i use command file->save or file->save as ,also CTRL +S and SHIF +CTRL+S in Photoshop 64 bit
I'm running Photoshop CC 14.1.2 on Mac (OSX 10.8.5) and whenever I use "Save As…" Photoshop marks the original file as edited and asks me to save it again before I close it - even if I have not made any changes before or after using "Save as…". This behavior is breaking some of my actions and bothering me quite a bit.
