Aug 6, 2012Attached shows lines (Parts) are intersecting each other in drafting mode. I have tried all but I am not able to resolve this issue.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Option In Drawing Mode To Exclude Parts From Section View
Feb 1, 2012Is there an option in drawing mode to exclude certain parts from a section view.
According to ASME Y14.3 parts such as shafts, keys bolts and nuts should be excluded in sectional view. Its not just removing the Hatching, the part has to show completely.
The closest I found in Inventor is that you can exclude Standard parts from being sectioned. Some of my parts are not in the standard library.
I would like to have the option to choose which parts I want to section and which ones I don't.

Oct 29, 2010I need to trim a part that intersects with many other parts in several different sub-assemblies - on an angle.
**Attached is an image of my problem.
Split tool is disabled. It is only usable once I drill down into the assembly/part - it will not select the other cutting objects higher up the browser stack.They become ghosted.
What I need is a tool that projects intersection lines. Does Inventor have something like this? Standard projection lines on the part is not working because the cutting objects are not 90 degrees angled to the part to be cut.
This may be easy,.. I am just not seeing a way to do this with out a bunch of work-a-rounds.

Oct 24, 2011Is there a way of using Ilogic to make hidden lines of specific parts in an assembly drawing view visible? If a part with hidden lines showing is suppressed and then unsuppressed the hidden line option becomes unchecked, therefore I need a way of rechecking this option through code?

Been working over an idw MANY times due to project lag.Today I opened it up and tried adding balloons to an already ballooned assembly.
The parts list has not changed, and is "structured".But, if I try adding balloons, they tag each part, not the entire assembly.
Also, I verified this by trying to add another parts list, which defaults to "parts only".
I can't show my data set, b/c it's HUGE, plus it's proprietary.

Oct 12, 2011Attached is design I am working on and I have imported standard parts from Carrlane. These parts are in surface type and I could not see them in Inventor DWG though they are visible in assembly. How can I convert these imported parts to solid or is there an easier way out of this ?

I would like to view inside one of the bodies to show where the exploded internals sit, however when I do a break out of the body the trail lines from the exploded internals also get sectioned. AutoCad 3D :: 3D Intersecting Surfaces Display - Conceptual View
Jan 3, 2013Using Conceptual View, I have hanger plates that intersect an arch, and previously where they intersect you couldn't see inside the arch just the surface. Since saving as another drawing to add hangers details something has changed in the display and the arch appears transparent at the moment so you cant see where along the plates the arch intersects.
Unless you zoom right into the intersection, the surfaces appear and zoom out and it goes transparent again.

Feb 12, 2013Run profile on a self-intersecting street? The one I'm dealing with is a dead end 'P' shape. Logically, there are manholes in the intersection of the 'P', and logically to me, these structures need to show up in two places in the same profile view. Of course, C3D doesn't realize that I want a certain structure to show up twice, and I'm not sure how to communicate that information to it.

Jul 18, 2012I use the "view" tab to create a half section view of an assembly. This works fine, but if I try to measure anything, move or select a component, or export image to a .jpg then it automatically returns back to "end section view" mode.
Without the ability to operate in a section view the it is impossible to constrain components that are placed deep inside of other components. This make this view function useless except for just looking at it on the screen. This worked in 2012 and will not in 2013. How do I correct this?

I have a curve and a straight line that connect and when I select fillet it will allow me to select the curve but not the straight line. I have been able to do this in the past with no problems.

May 7, 2012How to manage the visibity of parts on a particular view? For example, in a view there 10 parts appeared. I would like to make only selected parts visible on the said view.
I have the manual steps on how to hide them but when I try to code it using the said step, the parts on the model file were hidden not in the view.
I use oView.ReferenceDocumentDescriptor.ReferenceDocument in traversing the parts but this refers to the model file.

AutoCAD Inventor :: QTY Of Parts In Design View Rep
Nov 29, 2011I know this wasn't possible in the past (and probably still isn't now) but does any trick or something to only get the qty/parts used in a certain design view rep.
We are starting to do work orders (routings) with parts lists for ONLY whats used in that step in the process. Having to manually count screws,etc.. seems silly now.
Design view reps works excellent for showing the assembly process of a product but the parts list (even filtered to that design view rep) shows the total quantity of each component..not just the count in that design view rep.
Any possibility of doing this with ilogic or something?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Parts Missing From View?
Oct 1, 2010in dwg's made from an assembly i someties see that the view does not include all parts. To add to the mystery, a projected view made from the base view that lacked the component(s) view can still include the part. The missing parts are not reference parts, and can sometimes be parts of a subassembly.
The attached pdf shows an example:
- view B and C show a horizontal ground plate not visible in the base view
- the projected view shows components visible in the area of detail D, which are not shown in the base view
- near section A-A there is a component missing of which a second item is shown on the left side of the base view.
Switching the hidden lines on shows the missing components, but these should not be hidden at all. No settings are altered for the views to include/exclude components. No parts are set to reference. And no design representations are used.
Whe i bin the views and start over again, the same thing happens to the same components. However, if i bin the whole DWG file and start over, the parts are present...

AutoCAD Inventor :: BOM Reference Parts And Hidden Lines
Nov 19, 2012I am doing a .idw drawing of an assembly that I have several parts that I do not want to appear in the BOM parts list. I have therefore set these parts as Reference parts however this has caused them to appear as "hidden type" lines in the drawing and are even visible through other parts.
Is there any way to make these parts appear in the drawing "as normal" and not be listed in the parts list?

May 27, 2013I don't know if it is a bug or a setting, but in Inventor 2014, when I work on a part inside an assembly, with hidden lines visible, I am not able to see hidden lines from other parts.
is this a bug in Inventor 2014, or can this be changed in settings?
I really need that x-ray overview when projecting edges from hidden parts.

I know that it is possible to hide individual lines, but It would be good to be able to do this on a part basis, as some drawings can have thousands of hidden lines that would need to be selected and turned off.

Mar 21, 2013I have an assembly that uses reference parts. I do not want them in the BOM, but they are used in other drawings in the BOM. When I make them reference, the iso drawing view boundaries are not correct. Can I change the size? Crop will only decrease the size not increase?
