There are too many changes in selecting material colours in Inventor v2013. Any tips regarding selection of colours, as like selecting Stainless Steel colour.
View 3 RepliesWe have recently upgraded from Inventor 2011 Routed Systems to Inventor Pro 2012. We are using XP fully updated to the lastest SP and everything. We have everything configured to our preferences but there is one thing that has been driving me batty. When editing a solid part I open the Style and Standard Editor. Down near the bottom under Realistic Appearance where there should be a ball with a shiney swatch there is a yellow triangle mocking me saying Autodesk Material Library is not available, also none of the bump maps are showing up on new or migrated files whether this is a related issue I am not sure of. All of the normal and custom textures show up just fine, and all the bump textures are in their correct folder in the correct place. I have tried switching the design data folder around with no success.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've created my own library of bolts to include multiple material selections for each bolt. This works fine. But everytime I update my bolted connection, whether i do it manually or automatic it changes my material selection for the bolt to the first material listed in my bolt libaray table. This is also true for the nuts as well. Is there something that i have done wrong to make this happen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I have Installed Autodesk Inventor Proffessional 2013 SP 1.1 Update 2 on few new systems, it is not showing correct Material Appearance (Customised Material). I observed that it is not browsing images from correct folder location.

I checked Application Options>File>Design Data (Styles, etc.) for new systems showing correct folder location i.e. From User>Public Documents.

I created the following user parameters:
-Thickness
-Width
-Length
-Dia
I then created a Custom iProperty which consisted of the following "formula": Finished Material Size = <Thickness> x <Width> x <Length> Lg.
eg. of Finished Material Result : Finished Material Size = 6 x 25 x 300 Lg.
The problem comes up when dealing with diametrical components as the above formula will only populate for square or rectangular parts. Which would work if I could use iLogic code to populate the Finished Material Size iProperty. I have tried but failed.
First I created another user parameter called "Geometry Type" which has a drop down selection of either "DIA" or "SQUARE, RECTANGULAR".I then created the following iLogic code to set 0 as the value for the "unused" size parameters
If PART_GEOMETRY = "DIA" Then WIDTH = "0"If PART_GEOMETRY = "DIA" Then THICKNESS = "0"If PART_GEOMETRY = "SQUARE, RECTANGULAR" Then DIA = "0"
The part I just can't get to work is as follows.

i'm quite new to revit and am having issues with renderings in cloud, my computer is too slow to do this directly in revit. the colours and materials that i have assigned to cladding panels just comes out as grey. Unistalling, reinstalling materials library....changing the settings in 'material editor'....
incidentally when i do a draft render on my computer to 'screen' or 'printer' it shows the correct colours.
I can delete every unused material except one in the Material Editor.I am trying to make the custom Material library and somehowI have got the Material I cannot delete. URL....

I have a few question about the autodesk material library. i'm using a plastic material and i'd like to add a transparency map. The problem is, the transparency option doesn't showup. And if i set the material to plastic (transparent) it doesn't showup too. what do i need to do?
Another question is, where can i find the arch&design library?
teaching design and one of the programs is 3ds-Max Design 2012. One of my students couldn't find her Autodesk Material Library in the slate material window. Also in the compact material window the default materials were empty. I looked everywhere and tried to set back to the program defaults but that didn't work. So what did my student do and where in the world did the Autodesk material library go?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just imported a bunch of 4k clips via the gateway using the backburner. Is it normal that it took about 2 minutes per frame to render? I had 36 clips, 53 000 frames in total, and it took about 8 hours to get them all in (with store local copy and proxies turned on).

Where can I find some info on the process of importing Alexa material to Smoke? Is it as slow as RED material? I need to Color Correct 10 min of 2k material from that camera.

In mesh edit mode, when you assign a material to the selection, it works as expected, it assigns the material only to what is selected, for example, a face.
In poly edit mode, it works differently, if you try the same approach it assigns the material to the entire object and you have to deal with multi-materials and material IDs to achieve that, what is very boring and totally unintuitive imho.
Is there an option to make the poly editing mode work like the mesh editing mode, or at least another way to achieve the same result in a intuitive or at least 'visual' fashion?
Currently Revit doesn't support multiple selection in Material edition dialog, so when user wants to delete multiple materials, he/she has to select one, delete, then one again and again. It's really tedious and waste lots of time.

I have just installed IV 2013 Pro and I am having some issues with changes in the IPN transferring to the IDW. I changed the colour of a part in an assembly which transferred fine to the IPN, but the IDW did not update. I have tried turing off the visibility of the part in the browser in the IDW, then turning it on again, selecting the associative icon in the drawing view dialogue box, but still the view will not update. I even tried re-inserting the IPN in the IDW, still the colour had not updated. This is unacceptable. I do not have time to re-create all the IPN's.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a flexible sub-assembly in my top assembly. Sometiems I'm trying to demonstrate to others how a mechanism in the sub-assembly works using this flexibility feature. It works great, but when I move just one little part of a flexible assembly, Inventor displays the wire-mesh of the entire flexible assembly, because technically the entire assembly is selected, even though I'm only moving one part. It clutters up the screen very badly, detracting from what I'm trying to show.
Is there a way to prevent Inventor from displaying the selection lines? Either only when I'm moving a part in a flexible assembly (which would be great), or to just turn them off completely when I'm presenting like this? I know I can turn off pre-select, but that doesn't work, because once I start moving a part in the flexible assembly, the assembly is "selected" and the wire-mesh displays.
I use gimp to make layered stencils for spray painting...I reduce it to a couple of colours, seperate the colours into different layers and then cut them out...
When I do im left with a ghost type image where the original layer was..

Is there any way of avoiding this?
I have a part that is inserted in an assembly. If I change the color of certain portions of the part it isn't reflected in the assembly.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe model I have been working on has been trying to change it's colour all day. Finally I had a crash 'graphics adapter stopped working' and when I re-opened the model it had gone all blue. The top level assembly is all blue but the subassemblies are the proper colours when you open them.
I'm updating my graphics driver which should maybe stop the problem re-ocurring but in the meantime I need to get my top level assembly to display as per the colours in the sub assemblies.
Since version 2013 we got problems with how colours appear in the drawings.
They turn very dark. See the attached files.
It's important to us that white really shows as white.
Can't seem to locate the Inventor Material Library....under Default in Projects, the Inventor Material Library is highlighted in Red. Where I need to browse to inorder to locate it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWould love the ability to select fonts contextually. That is, I want to look at my text on screen and use the arrow keys on my keyboard to cycle through fonts (Photoshop style).
Going into a new window to select a font and then back out to view the result is absolutely maddening. Really hinders the creative process.
Ive recently started having a problem w Smoke 2013.
Whenever I select ANYTHING (click on an item) there is a 2 second delay before it actually selects and hi lights the item. Its a really annoying delay.
Ive never had this issue before. Happens with just about any command I have Smoke do. Moving the timeline and zooming have the same issue.
This only happens with Smoke. Not with any other program I use. This happens when all the time. Even when Smoke is the only program I have open.

some projects suddenly disappeared from the selection list that comes up when you start Smoke. The project files are still there and I didn't mess with them either. Is there any way to "refresh" the project listing?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm struggling with Selection Sets in 2012 Adv..I have a batch fx with 3 Action nodes in it. Each has a lot of stuff so I was hoping to use Selection Sets to quickly pull up the kfs I needed to tweek.
I set up about 4 sets but once I exit and go back in 3 of the sets (the ones in the action node I'm currently working in) have cleared. ie, they're still there but empty. The one set I've defined for the other Action node is ok.
I have tried setting them with 'Define' and with 'Add Selection to'.I think I must be missing one trick here, like not saving correctly?
Is there a way for the scale to be correct to the drawing?
