View 9 RepliesHow do I make the dimension shown black instead of pink? I had to suppress the fillet from the drawing in order to grab the edge to get the true dimension then when i unsuppressed the fillet the dimensions turned pink. I also used a section view but that did not fix my problem either.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to override a dimension and have it shown as a GD&T Basic dimension. I can override a dimension with the text option but not with a box around the letter. It sounds strange to do this but the letter represents a dimension in a chart format that are Basic dimensions.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Inventor 2013 and I'm trying to create a new dimension style that shows a box or parenthesis rather than a dimension. The purpose is so the workers in the field can measure a part and fill in the dimension.
So far the best I can do is make a dimension style that is white so that it comes out as a space. The other option was to manually override the dimension, but I don't want to go into every drawing and change every dimension.
What I would truly like is if the dimension would automatically come out looking like this [ ]
I like to change the dimension of the length from 388mm to 400mm to represent another similar part with another part number. Yet I still need the old part.
What is the easiest way to do so? When I use 'save as" and then change the dimension, I need to recreate the dimensions in the dwg files. Is there a way to avoid creating the dimensions?
From a VB.Net program, I'm trying to create a dimension on a drawing document between two parts in an assembly. I can get the parts using component occurrence. The line marked below throws the following error: The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG)).
As you may see, I have allocated memory for both "Edge" and "Face" (Dim oEdge1 As Face) albeit one is commented out. Attached is the screen shots from the attribute helper add-in. In it, you will notice that the attributes are of type: "Face".
Public Sub CreateDrawingDimension(ByVal Part1 As String, ByVal Part2 As String, ByVal AttName1 As String, ByVal AttName2 As String)

Dim oDrawDoc As Inventor.DrawingDocument
oDrawDoc = invApp.ActiveDocument

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm relativly new to 3ds and have built a model which I now need to walkthrough and save the file as a video file. I have used the walthrough assistant and created 4000 image (jpeg) files. I have loaded into RAM player and it runs, although only takes 50% of the images in. Each image file is only 236kb and renders at 1024 x614. I try to save the file as an .avi file and the system immediatly crashes with the explanation "Not responding". Machine spec should be fine with 8gig of RAM,Intel Xeon quad 2.66, 64bit win 7 and Nvidia Quadro FX4800
My questions are:
"What is the best way to create a walkthrough as a video file to be shown on wide screen TV's?"
"Is there a maximum amount of memory RAM player can use?"
"Should I use RAM player at all and just save as an AVI?, this has been tried but if I try the full 4000 frames it also crashes and fails to save".
Only one folder is being effected. I remove the Read only and it is reset back again.

On numerous occasions I am running into an issue where the section cuts are not shown correctly? View 6 Replies View RelatedI use a single IDW template for all my drawings. In it, I've got multiple dim styles.... One is Inch, one is mm, and one shows alternate units as Inch (mm).
In my titleblock, I've got a box that says "Units: " and I've currently got this setup as a prompted entry so that I'll have to think about it when I start the drawing and manually enter "Inches" or "mm" or "Inch (mm)".
Is there a way to automate this so I don't have to manually enter it, or remember to change it if the units change down the line?

I use INV 2013. MOVE THE END OF THE PART DOWN TO SEE WHATS HAPPENING. (MOVED TO REDUCE THE FILE SIZE). I am trying to split the solid using the surface as shown.
But, I am unable to do so. Also, I need to create a new surface with 0.50mm offset to create female form die.How to do it.
We are having a little trouble with a .dwg we need to create. (we create all are drawings that would be .idw as .dwg so users of light etc can view and mark up the files.)
The part has a Perspex (to represent glass) front with some framework behind the Perspex. We have created a base view of it in a drawing and can see through the Perspex when the view is in render mode, but if we switch to hidden line removed (as our drawing standards dictate) all the detail behind the Perspex disappears.
Is there a way to make the Perspex part transparent when the view is in Hidden Line Removed mode.

Is it possible at all to bring the jpeg image into an ipt. and have it show on the DWG file also.
I have common parts (custom frame member) that I use repeatedly in assemblies that I don't need to show in a parts list. Is there a way to control this so they don't show up in a parts list? Currently I go into the parts list and turn them off before exporting the list.

When you measure something with the distance command, according to the type of file, the last zoom you did, your graphic card and probably the speed of the wind, the little red line won't show.
Normally when you measure something, a thin red line is shown were the distance is calculated. But in my laptop, and both pc's of my client, Inventor shows this line only in parts, not in assemblies. I've got a Quadro 2000M, my client got Quadro FX 1700 and 1800, all with the recommended drivers.
So I tried with 3 other laptops. On one of them (with a K2000M) if you do a measure right after the file open, it give you the line, if you zoom with the measure command open, the line disappear and won't show again until you close and open the file again. But if you zoom without the command active, the line is shown normally. But it's not working like that on all machines.
Is it possible to make an i part or i feature of the beam end shown in snapshot (every thing except back to back channels) i.e., couples of holes at certain distance attached with some plates etc, so that it can be populated to identical locations.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to have two dimension styles in one dimension line. The first style would be a point to point dimension with the text centered and above the dimension line. The second style would be a running dimension to each point with the text over the second extension line and above the dimension line. Right now I am using two seperate dimension lines, one on top of the other. I'm trying to find a way to combine them into one dimension line so that I won't have to dimension the same thing twice.
At first I thought that using alternate units would work, however I was not able to find a way to seperate the two dimensions. Also, I didn't see how to make the alternate units a running dimension.
I am using IV 2010. I am trying to make a 5/8" sheet metal piece with the surfaces shown. I have tried to thicken the surfaces but do not get the results I am looking for. After the surfaces are thickened I need them to be able to lay flat with flat pattern command.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIm drawing the image below for school but I cannot figure out how to create the radius dimensions as they shown.
The only ones I know how to do are they .25 and the .75 diameter. I have tried changing the dimension style in every way I can think of. Just to clarify the 1.31 and .63 radius demotion how the leader starts in the center and the arrow is on the inside of the circle yet the text has the extended leader and is outside the circle and the other radius demotions the text is in the middle of the leader is what I am trying to learn to do.
I always put the dimensions and text leaders in model space, is it true if I plan to have 3 different viewport scales, I would have to create 3 different dimension styles for each VP scale, it’s quite hard to predict in advance which VP scale that I am going to use, Let say I am going to use 1/8”=1’ what is the simple math formula to use?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing and want to create an alignment in Civil 3D. I have my line, which is 987.83' long. However, when I create the alignment, the stationing runs from 0+00 to 118+53.92 instead of 0+00 to 9+87.83. This is a factor of 12. The properties tab reports a length of 11853.92 for the line as well. However, when I dimension the line, it displays the correct dimension that I want in feet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I create a surface texture symbol (ACM 2011) on a dimension using VBA without interactively selecting the dimension?I have a point on the dimension and the entity name / handle of the dimension which I want to pass to the VBA function.
I am using the code from Introducing the AutoCAD® Mechanical API, Wayne Brill – Autodesk URL....While this code interactively selects the point and the line (dimension in my case), I don't want to use interaction. Instead I have lisp variable.
I have used the vlax.cls to convert the point to a variant and handle to an object. (I could use Users variables instead with more complex code). This works well but the code fails at the line:

This is because the method requires IMcadLine object I have IAcadLine2 object
