View 9 RepliesI downloaded the autodesk inventor " feature recognition" add-in from the inventor labs website. Then, I opened inventor, went under tools, then clicked the add-in manager icon (the little plus sign). There, I saw the "feature recognition" add-in and set it to "automatic/loaded." Then I imported an stl file and tried to use the feature recognition add-in by selecting and right clicking on the part but could not find the "feature recognition" listed on the list of options. I tried the same thing by selecting the part in the history tree without any success in that way either. How to successfully download this feature recognition add-in and use it to convert an stl file to an inventor part and recreate its history tree? How do I make the feature recognition add-in visible on the ribbon? or how do i call up this add-in so that I can use it?

It wont install because it says an older version of the add-in exisits. Control Panel won't uninstall it becasure it says Inventor not installed. any thoughts on how to remove the old version of feature recognition?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using task scheduler to import about 20 Step files. I have feature recognition installed which of is a bit of a problem with Task Scheduler. Besides uninstalling, is there a way to suppress the dialog box that comes up on import of a step file.
I do not really want to watch my 20 step files being imported.
Is there some way we can turn off the auto highlight feature in inventor 2012? I am working in a large assembly and every time I move the cursor over the assembly it is trying to pre highlite parts and assemblys and it really causing alot of delay in my work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn 2010 and previous releases I recall being able to show the feature dimension by right clicking "Show Dimensions" and then being able to double click on any visible dimension and change its value. I don't see this behavior in 2012. Is there a setting to turn this on?

"make components" has worked flawlessly for a few years until today.
I have a part with 47 individual solid bodies. When I select all the bodies and hit the "make components" tool about 2/3 of the bodies deselect and are not included in the list to be sent out to parts. While in the command, I cannot select them in any way. However, I can open one of the derived parts that are created and edit to select one of the bodies that refused to work in the make components command. While this is a workaround im not looking forward to doing this to 30+ parts.

Following on from my post regarding a sheet metal component that was unable to create a flat pattern due to creating the component in an assembly; URL....I have found out that it wasn't the in place component that was the problem it seems to be the loft and sweep feature that cause this problem. I have thought about using the extrude feature (as this works) to create the shape and then cutting the ends to get the angles I want but that would be time consuming.
I have set up the sheet metal rule to be 3mm mild steel, any way creating this component and being able to create a flat pattern.

Face Detection "manually" performed.
On the first day (program start) no success with it.
The following day (new trial) this function was of (even very) good use.
To improve the duration and clarity I only scanned a single folder (no album!). Important: while doing that, I noticed that in a tray at the bottom a "circle" has gone around. Later I found out that this is the creation of thumbnails. So for sure this "thumb-nailing" was not completed! But it worked...
Yesterday I started the program at new. No possibility for a face recognition. So I startet completely at new, creating a new catalogue, and importing all data’s at new. Deleting the „old“ catalogue. Overnight then automatically create the miniaturization alone.
This morning, same procedure: a single image selected (with enough easily recognizable faces), and start the face recognition. During a very brief moment, a small pop on the screen is visible, where I can see a progress bar filling up. But no faces suggested to set a name on it.
I am a middle school teacher with a lab of 25 Dell Precision T1600 desktops. I just installed Inventor on all the computers and it works beautifully on 24 of them. On one of them, when you choose the "start" menu, nothing happens. If you click a second time, the area where the menu should be is black and the program stops working. The computers are running Windows 7 and with it working on 24 not sure why it wouldn't work on the 25th.
I have reinstalled 3 times, but nothing seems to work.
I just loaded Elements 11 onto my windows 11 laptop and imported about 15,000 photos. I was really looking forward to using the face recognition for tagging the photos but it does not seem to work. When I click "Mark Face" it always says people analysis is yet to be run and when I click yes to run it, nothing happens. Same thing when I click "Add People+", it just flashing something quickly on the screen and then nothing happens. I have "People Recognition" checked in the view screen and "Analyze Photos for people" checked in my preferences.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a new sketch on any given view and utilize the 'Project Geometry' command, not all geometry will project onto the sketch. It seems random; I've tried multiple times using different orders in which to choose the geometry. Sometimes certain geometry will project, sometimes not.

I have always used step files to save back to previous releases but i cant seem to get them to open in 2012, I get the attached message
I cant see any version options when saving the sat or stp file, also dwg export, import doesnt work either
I can see other people are still able to do this, is there a setting somewhere?
AutoCAD C3D 2012 has been crashing nonstop over the past 3 days on me whenever I try to "Create a Feature Line from Object". I know that it is a localized problem as a co-worker has been in the same drawing and done grading work without any problems. The error has occurred in multiple drawings.

Whenever I try to measure a distance, it asks me to enter an option (distance, radius, angle, area etc.), and when I click Distance, it asks me to specify first and then second point again, and then enter an option again, and so on.

I just started having an issues with the delete feature. When I click on an object and it highlights it--when i hit the delete button, it doesn't delete the object any more. Also i should be able to click on as many object as i want, now it makes me hold the shift key down. And also when I click on an object then pull the layers tab down to assign it to a diffent layer ---it won't change it now.. what do you think is going on with the software and who might I contact to get this problem corrected.

CommandMethods work just fine, and i'm not seeing any errors. in fact i'm using the most basic of functions, just returning the arguments. and nothing. Any diagnostic or something to determine what's the matter?

Recently installed the upgrade of AutoCAD 2012 from AutoCAD 2011.
It did not seem to migrate things very well? My PGP did not follow over and in addition to a few other settings.
I use the esc (escape) key to end a string of comands or if I want to go another direction. In AutoCAD 2012 when I hit the esc key on my keyboard it does NOTHING?
It is a key on my keyboard, not a keystroke shortcut?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have lost the use of the two transparent commands 'spe and 'sse. When I either click on the toolbar or type 'spe or '_spe in the middle of a command, they don't work like the other transparent commands. When I click on toolbar by itself, I get an error "Unknown comment "SPE". The other transparent commands say something like "PSE must be called from within another command".
Also, is the actual comment 'spe the command name or is it an alias. I was thinking that if I knew the command name, I could create another allias as a work around.
This is happening on multiple computers.
why is it that simple commands in paperspace like editing text/mtext, moving a single line or erasing objects so slow. it seems like it takes way to long to do simple editing. Makes me what to go back to model space sheet set up. I already did the changes to settings that someone posed "NEW Autocad Performance Tips". I notice a small performance enhancement but still very slow compared to paper space. this happened in files with one layout tab or 10.

I ran into a problem with the structural member wizard today. I was making up a bunch of glulams and everything was doing just fine, then all of a sudden the wizard stopped accepting new values for the member depth. No matter what you try to enter, it is rejected and a value of 1'-0" is placed in the field. It will accept new values for both width and lamination depth however. I tried to make a member of another material (steel) just in case it was just the glulams. No luck, they behave the same way, you can't set the beam depth. I also tried restarting ACA, working in a completely new (and clean) file, as well as restarting my computer, it didn't work.
I really don't want to have to go through the repair/reinstall circus if I don't have to.
We have this very cool tool that automatically creates a custom sheet property (IndexNo) and indexes all sheets in the active sheet set. Unfortunately, it doesn't run in 2012 and the guy that wrote the application no longer works for us.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe company I am working for has the old 2000 version of AutoCad. They send me drawings with blocks and attributes. But when I start working on them the system will lock up and not let me do anything else. I can maybe get two or three commands in then it will lock up. It doesn't even let me send a C.E.R. (customer error report) I have downloaded all of the service packs and the hot fixes but the problem persists. I don't where to go from here. My co worker thinks it may be a memory problem but I doubt it.
