Any way to suppress entire bodies in a multiple solid body part, using iPart, without having to suppress each individual feature for it. I am on Inventor 2013.
I am looking to use iLogic to create feature suppression in individual drawing views, i.e for simplicity, in view 1 part has a hole in view 2 part does not have a hole it has been suppressed
I am aware this can be done with iParts but im trying to avoid using iparts.
Problem: I have a part that goes through several processes, casting, machined, finish. I want to create a drawing sheet with views displaying the part through different stages.
Solution One: Create as many different parts (with different file names) for each stage and place the views accordingly. Really? Three or more part files to illustrate a single part?
Solution Two: Create a user parameter that will auto-suppress features to create different Levels of Details on Parts, but there is no way to initiate/set the user parameter for different views.
I understand 2012 has the ability to create part design representations, but we are still on 2011 and I am leery to upgrade for a feature that still might not work properly.
There has to be a way to suppress features in a specific view...iLogic? iPart? anything? I simply can't believe this is the case.
In ilogic it's easy to suppress features like holes, but I cannot combine iparts with Ilogic, so I try the same in VBA, but I don't know the way to do it
Is there some existing sample code like this ilogic one for VBA?:
I have created an iPart which uses the Hole Feature (counterbore hole). The hole is not threaded. Is there a way to put the Hole Feature into the iPart table so when a user enters specific values, he/she could type in or select a bolt size and the counter bore hole feature will use the correct dimensions for said bolt size (ie. I would like the counterbore holes for an M6 Socket Head Cap Screw. So instead of typing in the counterbore hole diameter, depth, and bolt diameter, etc... it would automatically enter the default values.) Or is this something that must use iLogic?
This is issue in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012. After installing Feature Recognition x64 bit 2012, its installing successfully. But its not showing in Add-in manager and is not working. S
Is there a way to copy all the supression state of one LOD to another?
I have here some Substitutes from specifics LODs in my IAM, and i need to supress/unsupress some parts (same parts) in all my LODs. So there is my question, how could I copy one state from first LOD and then apply to all of them ?
I cant just delete and create again copying from the first LOD because I have Substitutes based on those LOD, so if I delete them iI'll get some problems here.
I've created a number of child symbols in a for loop for each of the data elements in my local json file. However, based on key pressed (up/down/right/left), css property of a particular child symbol only needs to be changed/highlight... how can i access an earlier created child symbol ?
What i'm trying to create is that based on arrow keys, i can select/highlight (by changing css property) a particular child element only. (similar to traversing cells in an excel sheet -top/down/right/left)..
"make components" has worked flawlessly for a few years until today.
I have a part with 47 individual solid bodies. When I select all the bodies and hit the "make components" tool about 2/3 of the bodies deselect and are not included in the list to be sent out to parts. While in the command, I cannot select them in any way. However, I can open one of the derived parts that are created and edit to select one of the bodies that refused to work in the make components command. While this is a workaround im not looking forward to doing this to 30+ parts.
I use a simple If/ElseIf code to suppress / uns uppress & reposition holes on a plate to ensure the desired number of fixing hole pairs.
The hole positions will change and suppress/unsuppress depending on the value of the Tie Rod Pitch (vertical) and the O/A length of this plate (and pressure inside the radiator but this is sorted in Excel).
For example PitchMax = 500mm, BP_2ndS= 1600mm (plate length)
If (3 * TieRodPitch_MAX_2ndS ) < BP_2ndS < (4 * TieRodPitch_MAX_2ndS) Then ...
For some reason some times the parameters don’t update in the hole and pattern features after running the rule thus they are in the wrong position or not suppressed/unsuppressed. When I rearrange the If/ElseIf codes it may work. All I change is just replace ElseIfs with If-End Ifs or the other way around...
Which does not make any sense to me, since I change nothing in the parameters or conditions. Is this code structured poorly?
p.s. this is an engine radiator and the number of tie rod pairs depend on the height of the block, pressure inside, width, etc.
Following on from my post regarding a sheet metal component that was unable to create a flat pattern due to creating the component in an assembly; URL....I have found out that it wasn't the in place component that was the problem it seems to be the loft and sweep feature that cause this problem. I have thought about using the extrude feature (as this works) to create the shape and then cutting the ends to get the angles I want but that would be time consuming.
I have set up the sheet metal rule to be 3mm mild steel, any way creating this component and being able to create a flat pattern.
I'm trying to create a rule in ilogic that would search through all child components (looking for both .ipt and .iam file types) looking for an ilogic rule within each child component with a particular name, and running that rule if it is found.
I've only just started using AutoCAD 2013 and enjoying the Measuregeom feature for a few days, when all of a sudden it just stopped working. Whenever I try to measure a distance, it asks me to enter an option (distance, radius, angle, area etc.), and when I click Distance, it asks me to specify first and then second point again, and then enter an option again, and so on.
Is there a way to get sheet number of the base view for the Selected Child view (Mainly for Section. Detail Views). Because the Section views, Detail views (initially they would have created on the same sheet where the parent is, then they moved to different sheets). So we place the parent view sheet number.
I just started having an issues with the delete feature. When I click on an object and it highlights it--when i hit the delete button, it doesn't delete the object any more. Also i should be able to click on as many object as i want, now it makes me hold the shift key down. And also when I click on an object then pull the layers tab down to assign it to a diffent layer ---it won't change it now.. what do you think is going on with the software and who might I contact to get this problem corrected.
How do I change the BOM structure of iParts from Normal to Purchased? The BOM editor in the assemblies that use the iParts have the iParts as read only. I can't find a way to change them to purchased from inside the iPart either.
I've made a component pattern in an assembly using an iPart. The iPart as several different lengths, but I cannot switch lengths in the assembly. In other assemblies, right clicking on the Table icon allows me to change lengths, but this assembly will not.
In C++ can I use this function, using the key index Member string to select which row in the factory I want to insert?
In the docs all I see is Use an iPartTableRow (but no examples in C++).
Use an index, this works but I need to know the index before using it.Use a set of parameters in a string (but "[Member=142314]" does not seem to work. Can I not simple use a string with the appropriate member?
Can I use diferrent types of threads (as variants), in one iPart/iFeature file, ex. M10x1.5 (ISO Metric profile) and G1/8" (ISO Pipe Threads)? Look at the file in attachment and correct it if possible.
I have created an ipart and want to create a right hand and left hand option of that part. I can mirror the features involved and suppress the mirror feature for the the RH part and so the RH version looks fine.
BUT if the mirror feature for the LH version is in the compute state I get both handing showing. How do I suppress one handing and leave the other for my RH version.
Is it possible to add a Appearance tab to a Ipart table? I am cataloging a set of parts and one part is made with steel but in Gloss - Black and Matte - Black and i'd like to differentiate the 2 without haveing to make 2 seperate Ipart files.
