I have a tablet NB which has no keyboard, so I need to save my file byclicking the "Save" dialog with my tablet pen.Sometimes the "Save" dialog has no reponse when I was using tablet pen, butother input devices like usb keyboard and usb mouse worked fine. I foundthe "Save as" and "Save a copy" dialog had the same problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am missing a crop tool which can rotate the crop rectangle. Similar to photoshop's tool. I found no way to rotate the crop rectangle in gimp. How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? I tried rotating first then cropping but it does not give me enough precision so I end up with transparent areas at the border.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCreating feature edit dialogs? I currently have working program that creates a custom pocket/cavity but I'm having trouble with the User Interface and setting up a solid structure to handle events. My goal is to mimick how the "add hole" dialog works by having the following attributes:
- Ribbon button to bring up dialog
- Dimensions update when the dialog text boxes are updated
- Right click menu to edit existing features
- Existing dimensions and other properties are loaded when the dialog is used to edit existing features
So far, I have my classes structured this way:
AddinServer (handles loading and unloading the command) ->
CavityCommand (defines the buttons and containes event handlers) ->
CavityFeature (wraps up multiple identicle cavities into one client feature) ->
Cavity defitions (draws individual cavities using more specific classes)
When connecting to an Industry Model one can use the Convert to Industry Model dialog. Here you can select the source you want to map. This can be an FDO connection, a file (SDF, SSQLite, DWG).If you choose DWG, 4 options can be used as input/source:
AutoCAD Entities,
Layers
Object data
Block Names
However, the MAP 3D feature classes (from Classification) are not listed here, nor can I find (Hoping I am overlooking it) a way of converting mapping them to the IM. Seems the only option is to redo the classification "defintion" effort again.
If this is the case, I am getting more the impression that Map3D is becomming a bunch of tools rather then a consistent framework supporting a step by step path from CAD to GIS to Industry Model type it is being marketed.
Whenever I bring up the crop tool I see a dialog box covering part of the image. I never use it. Is there a way to hide or get rid of it?

I have discovered something that is a bit of annoyance to me. when adding text to an image, I get the following dialog box over where I want to put the text.
I have set it to use editor under the text tool, but it doesn't remove the on-screen floating dialog box, also selecting use editor doesn't seem to stick, and it reverts back to being unticked upon restarting the program.
is it possible to remove this dialog box, as well as make the use editor method the default?
Using GIMP 2.8.10 in Windows 8.1. The two default dialogs open are Layers and Brushes. The Layers dialog takes most of the space. I want to shrink it vertically but when I try to drag up the cursor with the two vertical arrows it moves by itself without resizing the dialog. When I do the same horizontally it works fine. I would like to see less of the Layers dialog and more of Brushes dialog. How do I do this?

I watched several Youtube Gimp tutorials, and I noticed that most of of them displayed a Layers, Channels, Paths dialog box on the right side of the screen when dealing with layers, but I have not been able to bring up this dialog box in either Gimp 2.6 or 2.8. I tried copping and stuff but I can't seem to use the tools right. I wrote a lengthy detailed version of this but figured it was too much to read so I am editing/cutting all the details out
Also the resize part. nevermind I got it figured, I just had to resize the image and the canvas follows suit. I didn't know that, thought I had to resize canvas first then image like in photoshop.
I love the GIMP program, even though my attempt at doing my first thing does not seem to be happening.
simply, I have taken a shot of a piece of artwork and I am wanting to crop right at the frame of the artwork. I successfully did the Scissor thing...hovered over the first 'dot' and held down the cntl key...and the marching ants were seen..OK so far.
HOWEVER, (after following a youtube tutorial) when I was at the 'CUT' stage, my crop did not turn white, like in the tutorial--the tutorial was Peyton manning's photo--I think-- so that is the hurdle I have to overcome...All worked well up to that point
--my photo is the first layer, then created another layer, named it, then moved it down one space then deleted one of the layers--I'm doing this from memory now--then did the scissor-thing and then the 'cut' step should have made my artwork all white....but no

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs I understand, Gimp make GTK, used in Gnome. GTK provides a dialog for selecting a printer and specifying the options for that printer. My problem is that whenever I'm faced with this dialog, it's a completely random set of settings; it's not the printer defaults (specified in CUPS) and it's not the last-used settings either for the user or the application.
It's a big productivity issue when I regularly print documents and high res photos and need to change ~10 or so options each time. Invariably I forget to change one of them and have to print something twice.
Is there any way to control these default print settings? I'd like it to pick up the CUPS defaults for the print queue selected.
I'm a consistent yet still newbie user who uses GIMP in lieu of other photo editing programs. how to get my Toolbox and Tool Options to seam back together? I somehow pulled them apart, and when I click on 'Lock Tab to Dock' it does nothing, they're still separate.

I recently found GIMP and think it is amazing. I've been a PhotoShop user for years, and actually prefer GIMP. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is holding me back from using GIMP exclusively, and that is the Record Action feature. I have to manipulate about 100 pictures per day - simply resize a picture to 6x4" @ 300 dpi, save it, resize again at 100 dpi, put a 10 pixel; black border around it and save it to another directory. I can do this to a hundered picitures in about a minute with PhotoShop, but it takes quite a while with GIMP.
