GIMP :: 2.8 No Dialog Box For Crop Feature (2012)
Nov 21, 2012I want to crop an image - it says a dialog box will pop up after I select mycropped area, but no dialog box pops up.
I can't see how to finish the crop and save it.

Nov 24, 2003I like to use the sharpen feature and the unsharp mask feature but haven't gotten very good at it. Mostly I'm wondering if there is a way to calibrate the sharpen function so that it doesn't sharpen quite so much each time I click it.

Jul 1, 2013I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)
But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop
The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before
[I do know you can use the drop down box and use {size and resolution} but I want to know why it doesnt work under custom and unconstrained]

Jun 16, 2011I have been working with some GIS data in the form of SHP files in autocad map 3D 2011. On one of my layers I have started getting "Feature was not saved in the target feature source" when I try to check in my data. In total there are 308 errors in the data table, all of which were features I deleted. They all have a featID of null and I cannot remove them from the data table. I need to fix these errors without going back and starting over.

Jul 24, 2012I am running Autodesk Map3D 2012 and I need to label my feature points no matter if they overlap or not.The Map3D documention refers to a check box that will allow what I believe I need- but I cannot find the checkbox in the style editor. Here's a clip from the Autocad documentation:
To allow labels to obscure points on the selected layer..In the Display Manager , select the point layer. Click the Style button.In the Style Editor, click Allow Other Labels To Obscure Feature Symbols On This Layer.
Lightroom :: Select The Crop Tool Image Disappears During The Entire Crop Process
Jun 2, 2008when I select the crop tool, my image disappears during the entire crop process. I can only see the image in the preview pane. Why is this happening? I am using the most current version of Lightroom, and I am on a PC.

Aug 4, 2012I am missing a crop tool which can rotate the crop rectangle. Similar to photoshop's tool. I found no way to rotate the crop rectangle in gimp. How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? I tried rotating first then cropping but it does not give me enough precision so I end up with transparent areas at the border.

Feb 26, 2013In the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.

Jan 22, 2008I've been using the crop tool without any knowledge of the little boxes you can fill in to restrict its WxH dimensions. I always wanted my crops to come out at a 2:3 ratio and could never get them perfect since I was just eyeballing it.
So then I found the WxH controls and if I put "2 in" for width and "3 in" for height, my image will come out as desired, no scaling of the image, but with the unfortunate side effect that my DPI has been changed, which causes problems for me later on. Now if I put "2 in" x "3 in" and then specify 72dpi in the "resolution" field, it will actually scale my image which is not what I want either. Now if I put "2 px" by "3 px" of course it will massively scale my image, which again is not what I want.
What I want is to re-crop my image to a 2:3 ratio, WITHOUT scaling, AND without modifying DPI. Is this possible with the crop tool? It seems that my WxH numbers are required to have units after them and I don't want any of those units (inches, px, mm, etc). I want unitless cropping, basically cropping by ratio. Does this make any sense?
I have a work-around which involves batch resetting all my DPI's at the end of the session. But that adds another step to my workflow which is not a very elegant solution.

Feb 28, 2007I am using photoshop cs2 and i am naming my folders and layers.
When i copy a folder, photoshop give me the option of renaming the folder but automatically add a ' copy' after the name of each layer in the newly copied folder.
So each layer in my folder look like this:
rectangle copy
name copy
text copy
etc.

May 2, 2004I noticed that in the switch from 7 to CS, the 3D render filter was replaced by fiber filter. Is it gone for good or just misplaced?
Kinda sad, I really liked how it bent graphics in a more true to life way than with pucker and bloat. Has anyone come across a plug-in that does 3D goodness? I don't want to sit around and wait for Lightwave to render the simple shapes that PS used to do in shorter time.

Feb 8, 2009I just recently upgraded from CS2 to CS4 and am finding it changed enough that it's slowing me down. I have a couple questions I hope someone can answer.
What is bothering me the most is that when I left click over an image I no longer can duplicate it, or change its size. I'm stuck with going to the menus and that takes longer than what I'm used to.
I've also been unable to figure out how to split the properties panels that now want to form two columns instead of one, and I haven't figured out how to break any given panel up and use only the part I want.

Jul 29, 2009i use picasa for organizing and basic editing and photoshop for more heavy duty editing. most often i end up using "fill light" in picasa and then saving changes and then re-opening the pic to edit more with photoshop, a process which sacrifices more photo quality then it should, because of the re-opening. i tried to find equivalent feature for "fill light" in photoshop, but the closest i got is the gamma correction, which kinda does that, but fades the colors. "fill light" does the same while keeping the colors alive. any suggestions which feature/combo to use in photoshop in order to achieve the same effect as picasa "fill light"?

Mar 28, 2009I'm using CS3 & have just tried to edit some images. When I crop & press enter, the image crop doesn't take, I'm presented with a tiny dot in the middle of the screen which if you zoom in becomes a rectangle, but my image is gone (undo crop restores this). Upon checking this with other images I discover it occurs all the time.
How can I get my crop function back?

Jun 28, 2012I'm working on a tutorial for doing a website mockup in Adobe PS. In one of the steps, it says:"With the header area selected with a mask press CMD+SHIFT+C to Copy Merged, then paste on a new layer."

Feb 24, 2013I recently updated my drivers from to AMD Catalyst 8.882 to AMD Catalyst 12.10 to promote stability in a 3D modeling program, Photoshop CS6's 3D function is now displaying inverted lighting information, i.e. shadows where light should be hitting and light where shadows should exist. If I try doing anything quickly, the program will crash.
I'm running Win 7 64bit on a HP Pavilion with an i7 multi-core processor with 8 gigs of RAM and with an AMD HD 6770M with 1 Gig of memory, set to fixed graphics.
