I know how to do this, simply to a save as copy dwg. But my question is; If i'm showing 2D sketchs from a part in my layout (Get model sktech), why do they not show in the exported DWG?
View 3 RepliesI like the Export To Model feature except it's useless in its current state. Here's why: it exports the paperspace view of the layout to a new modelspace drawing...but at the wrong scale. It basically just takes a picture of the paperspace view and recreates that in a new modelspace file, ugh. The modelspace scale should be maintained and the paperspace viewport scale(s) maintained.
In other words it should set up a new drawing with the viewport(s), paperspace layout tab and model space drawing(s) intact and recreated in a new file.
I want to export all layouts in a DWG file automatically with this kind of
LayoutManager.Current.CurrentLayout = "Layout1"
Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.SendStringToExecute("EXPORTLAYOUT " & strFilePath, True, False, False)
The layout is exported well, but each time a layout has been exported, a message appears with a question: "The file was successfully created. Do you want to open it now?", and the next layout won't be exported until user click button "Open" or "Don't open". I want export all layouts automatically without user input, so I don't want the message displays after exporting. How can I get rid of the dialog?
I wanted to know if it's possible to export a drawing from Autocad to Excel. The drawing is in both model space and layout and contains polygons and blocks.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to export a layout as a dwg file. Why do I want to do this? I got a drawing, and they put some stuff on the layout, so I want to export the layout so I can then work in the new file in the model area? Do you get what I mean?
Also, If I make a layout, I put my Firm Logo and information in the layout. If I send this to another firm, which isnt using Autocad, they than can only see the model area, so If I can export it into 1 file, in the model area, they cann see the whole thing.
I created a 760 x 400 layout for my front page to make sure my design would fit all web browsers. The problem is I the image is only 760x400, and it does not take up the whole screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a layout in Illustrator (CS6) and seperated the individual images I require into named layers. My intention is to export as a Photoshop file (keeping all the layers), then using 'Script' in Photoshop to 'Export layers to files..', so I can get automatically save all the elements in the layout as individual transparent png.
When I export the files as Photoshop a warning comings up saying that 'some layer have been merged' and then when I open this file in Photoshop, all but a couple of text layers have been merged into 1 layer. I think it's something to do with the transparencies set in Illustrator but don't know how to resove this.
If it can't be resolve in the method I am using at present, my only other option is to switch off all but 1 layer in Illustrator and export this layer as a png, but as I have many elements to the layout (including on and off states) and this is just one layout page of many, this manual way of export the files will take me forever!
I can stop these layers from merger into one layer when exported to Photoshop, then any way I can automatic export the layers I have set up in Illustrator, as transparent pngs in a simular way I can in Photoshop.
I have a bit of a problem with Autocad map 3d 2012. When i try to insert a scale bar or a north arrow or any other carthographic element i simply can't find the layout elements that are supposed to be in layout tools tab. I've done a lot of research online and can't come up with anything.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOur configuration management tool requires a DWG for our system assembly drawings. A single DWG with all the sheets layed out in a sheet space. Right now I do a "Save As" out of inventor and it creates X number of seperate DWG files and then I stitch them together in AutoCAD by taking each sheet and placing them into a single sheet space (copy paste). My work flow would be much faster if I could get Inventor to create a single sheet space with all the active or selected sheets as a single DWG output.

The floor of the plant is split into different faces to denote walkways etc.
When i saw they were missing from the drawing i thought it could be because i haven't 'included surfaces'.
I clicked on include surfaces on the model and it worked!
However, when the green arrow update finishes, they disappear, and the include all surfaces box is unticked! i didn't untick it, so what did?

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen I try to export my current drawing to a pdf (or AutoDesk 2007 DWG for that matter) it won't do anything but show the export progress window and states Updated Views: 0/4. There is a bar which usually starts showing green slowly across it for "progress" , but that is not filling up with green, it is just staying blank and empty like no progress is happening. This goes on forever and so I stop and try again only to get the same result!

I want to creat a hollow cylinder. But I need to be able to unfold it to have a layout of the cylinder. So that when this DWG goes to the floor the technicans knows how much he/she will need from the sheet to roll the cylinder.

Now I want to predefine a layout, where the projected views should gonna be, independent which .ipt file I have.
Do I create a new .idw and make it look like I want, then save it and open it within the application?
But if I change the savepath it ask me where the file (.ipt) is.
So now I could choose my one, right? But how can I choose my .ipt file in the application?
It won't let me do an operation like openwith or something like that.
Or does there exists another way to predefine a layout?
In Inventor, when I export my idw to PDF, then open the pdf, the PDF opens with the "layers" browser open. Its easy enough to click the little arrow and close it, but I had rather not do that everytime.
I can change the defualt for this one file (via acrobat>File > properties, initial view tab). But that does not work when I create another new pdf.
Nothing in the Inventor options when I export it makes a difference.
Does Inventor give the ability to place default Factory Assets on a 2D factory layout? I know the Factory Design Suite has the ability to do this, but I don't need the Suite as I already own AutoCAD. All I need to be able to do is visualize a 3D factory layout such as in the following video for the Factory Design Suite:[URL].......
What software will accomplish this? And again, I wouldn't need the Suite, because I don't need any other feature than to insert 3D factory assets onto a 2D layout.
When I export from Inventor professional to an STL file for 3D printing. Everything exports ok except threads. I have a model with M10 and M4 threads which never show on the STL file. Is there an option I need to tick to make sure they convert?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a .dxf or .dwg from our company logo to use it in many parts and assemblies. I also would like to be able to resize it. When I export the sketch from the attached model, and use it in a new part, it says there's open loops and other problems. These do not occur in the original part when using sketch doctor.
What's wrong with the sketch? Is there easier ways to emboss the logo on multiple parts?
Client supplies template for acad with title block c/w attributes that eventually get populated via their doc management system.I open template in inventor, drop in views from me model, then dimension & annotate.I have previously created styles in inventor so all layers, text etc is correct. And colours used match clients ctb file.
I then export to acad 2010 dwg using sheet to layout with best visual fidelity and the acadiso.dwt as a template.I then open in acad and add my bits into title block.
I check layer manager as quite often inventor converts acad colour 'red' to a RGB colour code in inventor; so these need resetting.Then repair or delete and redo dimensions that have not come over well.However, I now have everything on paperspace - not ideal. Ideally I would like everything in modelspace at 1:1.
I have tried other setting sin export and it just doesn't work.What is the best way and best settings for this export? I will adapt my workflow to suit best way.
Looking for a way to quickly and easily copy and paste a sketch from an IV drawing into another drawing. I have tried the simple copy and paste method however this most basic of commands is extremely un-user friendly in IV. All I need to do it copy and paste a sketch which is a drawing stamp (minimal text inside a box) and paste onto another IV drawing.

I would like to add a table next to each part that lists the size variation agains our Part no's.

Last seen in Inventor 2013 on the right-click menu of a part created through the "Make components" workflow, this invaluable tool has been abducted.
I have an issue with flat layouts, when a draw a round object such as a rolled punched plate it would be nice to have the flat layout show what the hole callout and spacing would be, however with the way i draw the model. the holes come out as an ellipse, attached is a document showing how i drew the model.

I have tried changing all of the units and setting 100 different ways and I still cannot get it to export to a 1:1 scale for 3D printing. What is the deal with this I cannot believe it is this difficult.

The view cube in INV2011 has the front view as the front view and the top as the top (I am using XY as top, and XZ as front). When I export to DWF everything gets turned on its side. XY is FRONT (previously TOP), top is upside down view of one of the sides. I've done the make current view home in 2011.

We are currently using ilogic to change part text parameters from the assembly but it is a sticking plaster at best, as the rules need to be rewritten when parts are added and deleted from the assembly. We are trying to update our etched job number (which in many cases contains letters) from a single point on the assembly model which should populate all part files, and make it robust for all our CAD users, who do not use iLogic in their day to day duties.
If this is not possible (exporting text parameters the same way numerical parameters are handled) is there any plans of getting this included in upcoming versions?
I have an assembly, which a customer wants to use in their 3D setup. Which file type, gives away the least information?
