AutoCAD Inventor :: Errors On Modifying Parts - Operation Doesn't Produce Significant Result / Redefine Inputs
Oct 2, 2012
I'm experiencing many problems when modifying parts measures, adding extruxions or doing holes/threads.
Always same error: Operation doesn't produce a significant result. Redefine inputs
If Inventor is totally closed and reopened, I can modify and update parts without problems for 10-30 minutes, until first error, then it gives errors until closing again. Usually, but not always, operation preview begins to fail before first error. So it's quite difficult to reproduce.
I've tried uninstalling everything after Autodesk installation, windows updates and Firefox plugins (well, even Firefox itself) included. I've tried all hotfixes and updates that Inventor 2013 gives (NO SP1), even I've fully reinstalled Inventor. I've been using Inventor from Inventor 7 and never seen such errors.
I've attached a part from the pictures. Anyway, as errors are not always happening, maybe you won't have any problem with it.
PD: Also, a little problem is that with this Inventor version I can use the CTR+c CTRL+v to copy parts into an assembly. I can use the context menu but no shortkeys.

2- WEIGHT - is to update weight of model in title block
3- PDF - is to create a pdf version of drawing in same location as idw
all are triggered by saving the drawing.
These work fine, but sometimes when I create specific types of drawings there is errors, which is no big deal, just a prompt appears and I press ok and everything is fine.
With very little to no iLogic programming knowledge, is there a way to edit to rules so that if there is an issue, the rule knows it is ok and saves without the little prompt appearing?
Example of when errors occur for:
SCALE - sometimes I create drawings on my template just using create sketch, I don't place a base view so therefore there is no model information. which makes it hard to produce a scale. (see image, error -1)
WEIGHT - occurs during the same instance as above, only a sketch is saved on the idw. (see image error -2)
but I also have an error occur when creating a drawing from a presentation file. I create a presentation file from a specific level of detail from an assembly. and I get an error when saving . (see image error-3)
I understand the first 2 errors because there is no physical data to get this information from, so I am hoping an edit to the rules can bypass this issue. But the 3rd error doesn't make sense. It is from an actual model, but I guess the physical properties get lost from an .iam to .ipn?? or is there a setting that can be toggled to carry over model properties?
Inventor Pro 2013
Rules are below:
'Scale Public Sub Main() On Error Resume Next 'Get the drawing document
My parts list on my idw do not update when I make changes to the model. Specifically, I have deleted a bolted connection on my design and replaced with a different components but the parts list table does not update - all I see is a lightning bolt in the browser next to the parts list but I cannot update it here.

In the mk the final output has to be sent to the 'result' node. The weird thing why this node has 3 input ( fg , bg ,matte ) ? the single stream of the matte should make it work. Is there any good explaination ? In what condition we need to connect all the output ? if i connect the fg to other image/clip then when we go back to action, the fg of the related layer will be replaced. But why we want to replace the fg using mk?
I don't understand why my parts aren't updating when I put a hole through them on the assembly drawing? I would expect the part (.ipt file) to get updated with a hole through it when I save the assembly drawing, however it doesn't. Do I have to change a default setting or does inventor no do this?
I have experienced this problem before, but have found no solution. Sometimes I am unable to move the faces of 3DSolids and get the error messages like "Modeling Operation Error: Gap cannot be filled" or "Modeling Operation Error: No solution for a vertex". Haven't found a pattern of error yet, but today I copy clipped some 3D solids from another drawing into my current drawing and found that the move face wouldn't work after that. If I draw a simple 3D solid within the current drawing, the move face won't work; but, if I copy clip that same object into a new, blank drawing, the move face works.
I am trying to model a large Control panel assembly using Inventor Pro 2011. It comprises of a main assembly with several adaptive sub assemblies containing the various items. (Relays assy, label assy, fixing assy etc). All works ok until I start using Levels of Detail to enable me break the assembly into smaller workable parts. I.e. Left door, right door, main panel full, main panel no doors etc. These will be used to create view reps from for my drawing views at a later date.
The problem I am having is I keep getting constraints failing on parts which are suppressed in various levels of detail. An example of this Is when I go to right door LOD and do a rebuild all, I get constraint errors from item relating to the main panel which is suppressed. I can suppress the constraint causing the error but when I return to the full panel LOD the constraint is still suppressed and the parts appear In the wrong place.
how to Run Commands Using the API. And he also shows API can provide one sets of input to the command.
In my case, the Inventor command "analyze interference" need two sets of inputs. I tried to feed the commands with two selectset input throght API (see attached code). But the command looks like only take one set of them.So the behavior is not what I want.
So if it is possible, how to provide 2 set of pre-defined input to inventor commands throught API?
I tried to start photoshop today and received two errors and the app will not start. I tried un-installing and re-installing (cloud apps), but I encounter the same errors
Can't post screen shots - you can't read them. First error says "Could not load actions as an unexpected end of file was encountered" The second one says "Could not initialize photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleated)"
I haven't installed any new software. PS worked a few days ago, other programs working OK, even cloud stuff
way to redefine a point that was placed in a model with a "Center of Loop of Edges" command? Inventor doesn't seem to recognize type of placement unless it's been selected from the Point drop-down menu, but picking this in the midst of a redefine only creates a new point, it doesn't redefine the original point.
As it is, I've been forced to just delete the original point, create a new one and go from there.

Once a 3D object is drawn/completed in Inventor LT, how does one go back to the object to change the length/radius of certain objects without having to completely redrawn the object. For instance, imagine a bike wheel that is fully draw. Later perhaps one wants to go back to the wheel and adjust the radius of the spokes and the length. How does one do this quickly. In 2D I see how, but can this also be done in 3D with Inventor LT?

I am in the process of repairing and assembling the various systems for a luxury yacht - electrical, mechanical etc. The ultimate goal is to get a full 3D layout of parts and assemblies, then using tube and pipe and cable and harness to run conduits, aircon ducts, fuel lines....
All I have to go on are .dwgs
In the meantime I need to submit a modified .dwg to the engineers overseas to get the O.K. on swapping the order of certain components. All I need to do is change the labels text on the layout, nothing else.
I have imported the .dwg into an Inventor sketch and edited the text.
Now I am stuck. Placing the view into a new drawing shows nothing.
RMB export sketch as .dwg works, but not a single line of text shows, only the layout.
I want to draw operation drawings, I think, ı must do this like that; I must draw one ipt, and later I must draw drawings from this ipt, and idw's
1.drawing (operation); rectangular prism,
2.drawing (operation); rectangular prism and rectangular cutting,
3.drawing (operation); rectangular prism, rectangular cutting and hole,
4.drawing (operation); rectangular prism, rectangular cutting, hole and hexagon cutting,
when I change dimensions of rectangular prism, all four operation drawings must change, so I can't change location of end of part in idw's browser, but I can change location of end of part in ipt's browser, I want to change location of end of part in idw's browser, can I do this? or alternative solution...
I don't want to make, four ipt for each operations... I added a picture...

I was running CS4 before moving on to CC and never noticed any interface lag or uncommon issues. In Photoshop, I am encountering significant lag in using certain tools, e.g. the lasso tool. A common scenario: I select the lasso tool, begin to make a selection with my wacom pen and... nothing happens. Everything else is inaccessible for a few moments until a message box appears saying no pixels have been selected. From there, things may or may not work like normal. Today, the button tools in Photoshop were giving similar lag responses (even just using my trackpad, no wacom).
As far as small oddities go, the other day I was working in Illustrator and made a simple line stroke. When I moved a point with the direct select tool, it switched to a rounded corner on only that end point (not the other), though no rounded corners were selected in the stroke box. Toggling the rounded corner button turned on rounded corners, then returned to a single rounded corner. Moving the end point with the direct select tool again would make the rounded cap disappear.
I've checked my CPU usage while I work and it is very low, and I'm not working on large files (less than 10mb). Though I don't recall any more specifics at this time, the feeling I keep getting, misplaced or not, is that CC isn't stable.
I'm on the Retina Macbook Pro, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Ram, version 10.8.4.
I have a function programmed in vb.net that controls the opacity of parts in the active view. If the user is selecting objects and then starting the program the "non-Selected" Parts are disapearing step by step.
That's looking very interesting, but doesn't supports the user . Is it possible to freeze the active view of inventor and refresh it, when the job is done? So the user will only see the result of the process and not the working process.
As you could already read in the headline of this topic, I'm getting two diffrent results from Inventor.File.ReferencedFileDescriptor with the Inventor 2010 API and Inventor 2012 API when I'm trying to get some information from the same Inventor file!
In my case the FullFileName and therefore the ReferenceMissing property get's me different values, although it's exactly the same Inventor file and exactly the same source code.
How could this happen? Any changes for the ReferenceFileDescriptors object from API 2010 to 2012?
Why my result from stress analysis isn't symmetry?I am modeling a telescope support system. The result I got from the analysis always not symmetry, the difference is very small therefore I think the test setting shouldn't have any major problem.
The difference could be cause by the round off during the simulation, if I am right about it, is there anyway to improve the result?
I modeled a sheetmetal part, saved it and then did a save as to make a similar part. I changed a couple dimensions and when it updated it chnaged it's orientation. Playing with the EOP marker reveals the refold feature, the last feature in the model, to be the culprit. I tried reentering the stationary reference, and I tried deleting and recreating the feature.
I have a component pattern with 3 components in it and I need to remove one of the components from the pattern. How can I modify the pattern through the API? I have tried various things but I do not appear to be able to change the pattern.
I am using some code from the June 2010 "Mod the machine" posted by Brian Erkins.I keep getting an error in C# (express 2010), Please see attached screen dump.
I don't see any obvious difference in my code when compared to Brian's (in fact at one point I copied and pasted his code and still had the same error). Here is the
I am running Photoshop CS2, with Windows Vista Home Edition.
My problem is a new one, as Ive been running the program the exact same way since I bought it several years ago. Two weeks ago I bought an Intuos 3 tablet, and installed the software that came with it (including Corel Painter Essentials), and updated the drivers for Vista. After doing so, the appearance of my save menu changed in photoshop, but everything still ran properly.
Yesterday when I tried to save a file that I had opened and modified (a photoshop file, not .jpg), Photoshop stopped responding. I did not receive any error message, the program simply froze, and refused to respond. I gave it more than five minutes before shutting it down.
This has happened three consecutive times. I can save a new file, (using the save as function), but anytime I attempt to merely save (either using control-s, or by selecting save from the file menu) Photoshop stops responding.
I can get length, width, height information from part or assembly below Visual Basic Express 2010 code.
Everything is perfect. But if any plan or axis visible in document than results comes wrong! I think box object calculating the dimensions not only according to raw part. It adding the axis or plan dimensions to the result!...
