I am working with settings for dxf sheetmetal Inv 2011..If the configuration is set to ( configuration not saved) if I change the file version to eks. R12 it doesn't remember the changes, like in drawing only if I configure a ini file.
If I configurate a ini fil, it seems that the layer is saved in the ini file what do flatpattern.xml ? I have trying to change a layer name in the flatpattern.xml it does not work.what is the best practice for flatpattern setting.
Do I NEED to use the DataIO to export the flatpattern to dxf, or is there some way I can pas a Flatpattern to the DXFAddIn.saveCopyAs()?How do I pas the .ini file to the DataIO.WriteDataToFile().Do I need to write my own parser to get the Format correct?
The solutions that I have found to get an assembly bom on an assembly drawing are:
1. insert an assembly into an assembly.
2. make a virtual part or derived part.
3. make extra fields in the part and have the BOM column look at alternative iproperty fields.
In a part file that has a family table I want the configurations of some casted parts and some machined parts. the casted parts will have a drawing but no BOM, the machined parts will have a drawing and a BOM.
Then in an assembly file that has a family table I want configurations that use the configurations of the part file. Each of these assemblies will have a drawing that has a BOM that will call out the part that is is made from.
In other words I will have a casting that will be machined so I will need a casting drawing and a machine drawing that has a BOM telling what casting to use.
On top of that when I try to make a family table in an assembly I get a message "THE BILL OF MATERIALS CONTAINS VIEWS OR PROPERTIES NOT SUPPORTED BE CONFIGURATIONS. OONLY STRUCTURED FIRST LEVEL BOM VIEWS ARE SUPPORTED. THE BOM WILL BE CHANGED DURING CONVERSION".
Client supplies template for acad with title block c/w attributes that eventually get populated via their doc management system.I open template in inventor, drop in views from me model, then dimension & annotate.I have previously created styles in inventor so all layers, text etc is correct. And colours used match clients ctb file.
I then export to acad 2010 dwg using sheet to layout with best visual fidelity and the acadiso.dwt as a template.I then open in acad and add my bits into title block.
I check layer manager as quite often inventor converts acad colour 'red' to a RGB colour code in inventor; so these need resetting. Then repair or delete and redo dimensions that have not come over well. However, I now have everything on paperspace - not ideal. Ideally I would like everything in modelspace at 1:1.
I have tried other setting sin export and it just doesn't work. What is the best way and best settings for this export? I will adapt my workflow to suit best way.
I thought when you created a part and filled out the iproperties description field and created a drawing of that part that the parts list would read the iproperties description field and put that in the parts list description field.
Then when you create an assembly that included that part and filled out the iproperties description field in the assembly and created a drawing of that assembly that the parts list description field would be filled out be the assembly iproperties description field.
Instead the description field of the parts list in the assembly drawing is filled out using the iproperties description field of the part not the assembly.
Where can I reset to default settings in Inventor 2010 ? Trying some configurations , but now I need to set my Inventor to original settings, where can I do that ?
i'm developing a hexapod robot and i want to simulate the motion of the robot's leg. The mechanical of robot's leg contain a servo motor that variate your angle between 0 to 330 degre. How can i delimite the angle of servo's rotation?
Other questions, is about the fixation with bolts. How can i do for the motion simulation respect the connection of the bolt? when i do a dynamical simulation the parts that contain bolts don't stay joints, i have to do a rule of fixation with constrains?
I want to change the default precision shown in my drawing from two decimal places to three. In my .idw file the "Units" tab does not seem to be there. I see Standard, Sketch, Drawing, Sheet. I could change each dimension one by one, but there's got to be an easier way.
I have been asked to change some of the default weld settings within the weldment template, i.e. set groove weld to full face full face, set the fillet weld to 6x6. so that when we do a new weldment these things are already set, have hunted high and low on here, through google, autodesk knowledge base for inventor but havent found anything, not sure if havent put the right keywords in or that it just isnt possible to do.
For whatever reason, everything reset back to default in my application settings. The only thing I remember happening was that at one point my Inventor was not able to establish a connection to the server where the liscence is stored and it gave out an error message. Ever since then, everything was reverted to default.
how to change the look of the highlights in the assembly environment when selecting parts? I can't remember where it's at.
I have recently changed computers, I am apart of a Flexi license system. Now my problem is when i go into Application options and change where to open my templates from it does not save when i quit Inventor. I have also notcied small things like the reverse cusor button i always click but everytime i get out of Inventor it defaults.
(Pictures: One is the custom templates i would like to use. I am selecting them in Application Options/ Templates than applying and closing. Then when i am fnished with Inventor for the day and shut down and the next day when i come back it defaults back to the default templates)
I create a new assembly and place a component multiple times. When i open the Bill of Material i see one line with a QTY of 6 (the number of times the component was placed)
Now if i uncheck the "Enable Row Merge on Part Number Match" The BOM should show 6 lines with the same component and a QTY of 1 ....................correct?????? But it does not...........
We use ordinate dimensions for all holes in parts. Unfortunately there seems to be features frequently left out of ordinate dimension mode. For instance, by default Inventor uses center and quadrant object snaps. Unlike in normal dimension mode, there is no right click option for disabling quadrant snaps. This is a constant annoyance, especially when dimensioning a print with a lot of holes. Is there any other way or hidden setting to disable the quadrant snap? In addition, add member is missing from the new "marking menu" completely so we have to enable the old right click menu to get it back. Are we the only ones using ordinate dimensions?
When I go to the project settings and select the configure content center libraries icon, click on the drop down icon of the same name, click the icon, no library window appears. It was working before, but not now, it selects but will not click to produce the library window. All my libraries files are in the same locations as far as application options & projects environmebnt are concerned.I tried running AIP as admin and not admin.
I can't find the "Curvature settings" dialog box. Selecting and right-clicking the spline in scketch mode I don't find "Setup Curvature Display" command in the menu. Also, if I click on "Display Curvature" I can't see the curvature itself.
I have changed my template using the styles library. For some reason Inventor 2013 will not let me save my new settings as a default in my newly created template. Instead it gives me an error message that reads:
" The following style definitions in template ....... differ from the definitions in the style library; the style library will be used.
Part listart list (ANSI), Revision Table: Revision Table (ANSI)
If the style definitions in the style library are intended for the new document, update the template with the new style definitions. If the style definition in the template are intended for the new document, remove these styles from your style library using the Style Library Manager."
I'm having troubles with the inventor 2013 shortcuts.
Actually, i have to confirm my selection when i have 2 aliases starting with the same key (for example : D for dimension, and DF for discussion forums).
The fact is i never use the DF shortcut, and want to clean it up, or at least change it. When i do, it works well, until i restart inventor.
When i restart Inventor, shortcuts configuration resets and i have to do the change again.
I found a way to not spend that much time on changing them, with exporting/importing settings, but it's still annoying to import every time i start Inventor.

Since I installed the 2014 Inventor, my 3Dconnexion Space Navigator refuses to keep the settings I program for the buttons. I tried updating to the latest version of the driver, but that didn't work. I also tried unchecking the autosave function in the driver, but they still get changed anyway and then the driver asks if I want to save the changes.

If my style library is enabled in project it always refresh definitions whenever i create a document using template and press update the window in snapshot shows up.
Is there any way to do vice versa - i.e. get all these items updated in style library as per the current document setting.
Im looking to make a simple ilogic rule that can toggle an option in the document settings, the setting I would like to change is the Document settings> Modeling> Participate in assembly and drawing sections
I would like a form to switch the option on and off quickly, its a really usefull function however I know a few of my colleagues wont use if they cant find it easly.
