I am trying to fold a sheet into an "L" shape (using the the Fold command) but i would like to have the inside of the bend to be sharp and not a radius like on the outside. Is there any way that i can achieve this?
I am trying to fold the attached sheet metal part that is created from an imported ACAD drawing. After cleaning up the sketch I created the face and then created a sketch with the first bend line on it, but when I attempt to flod the part it will not sellect the bend line. I have attempted selecting the line before selecting fold and that does not work. I have placed the sketch both on the part surface and the datum plane. The only line I can get fold to select are the two ends of the part but I don't see how anything could be bent off the end of the part.

I am having real difficulty in putting a fold on a sheet metal part that only fold part of the piece. I have made the part as a solid body and it almost looks the part but not quite.how to draw the part as a sheet metal piece.
The is very simple to make as a sheet metal part, the piece in question is placed into the press brake to the 34mm depth and then its folded to the 13 degree angle.
Is there a feature on the latest series of inventor whereby you can automatically generate fold detail on the flat pattern , ie. fold up 45 degrees, eliminating mistakes. I am currently on Inventor 2008 so this feature could be on a new version.
The left-hand part was created by someone else, using the bend part command in the "modify" tab.The right-hand part was created by me using fold in the sheet metal environment, using the same sketch. Why, is my part shorter?
I have the following sheet metal application: A flat bar steel (strip) 40x1mm is bent and twisted around three cylinders. In our process, the strip is running in loop around these cylinders, like a conveyor-belt. At first, it is bent around the first cylinder (blue). Then, it is bent and twisted around the second cylinder (green). Between these cylinders, a flat part is modelled so that the strip will be bent upwards (twisted) around the next cylinder. The same is done between cylinder two and three. In praxis, when I bend the strip, no flat part will be present, because the strip is quite stiff, as it is spring steel. In my Inventor model, no stiffness of the strip is taken into consideration.
I am looking for a better way to model this strip, where stiffness of the material is taken into consideration.
Does a low cost or free software program that could simulate folding of sheet metal patterns so I can work out the best fold sequence eliminating collisions etc.. Based on my stock tooling shapes and sizes and machine limitations?
The last feature of this L-Bracket is a fold. When I create the flat pattern it is only unfolded, not completely flattened. Prior to INV 2009, I could get a wireframe flat pattern with the part still folded. Since then, I have to unfold to get a flat pattern. The only way to show the formed part and flat pattern in IN2012 is to use a derived part with the base component supressed and the base component with the fold supressed.
How to be able to simply flatten this part so I don't have to do extra work with two parts
I'm trying to place my ordinate dimension to a theoretical sharp corner and the dimension will only go to the end of the arc (see pict). I try and drag the dimension end point by selecting the end of on line and dragging it over, select the other line and drag it till the two yellow dots meet at the intersection.
When I let go of the mouse button to place the dimension it pops to one side or the other of the arc.
Luckily I found your site I have used CorelDraw X4 for a couple of years now, mainly for my crafting hobby. For some strange reason now, sometime when I created a dashed line (as I always have before) and send to my cutter it arrives as a solid cut line and not a "pounce" line. It doesn't always happen to all of the dashed lines which on the visual in Corel are correct. Even if I try to delete a problem line and create a new correct one and then send again to the cutter, either this or even one of the correct "pounce" lines will appear as a solid cut line. I've never had the problem before so I tried a "repair" to Corel which doesn't seem to have had any effect.
I'm looking to recreate the crease/fold lines below. I've found various tutorials showing ways to create fold lines using thegradient tools (i.e putting black/white to create fold) and others that use an overlay of crinkled image and making opaque.Neither of these produce effects like the ones attached.
How I get the edges to fold round behind the navigation bar exactly as it is in this picture.
I know how to round corners, but that' not what this is. I know its almost the same as a ribbon, but its not, its folding round behind the background color.
I need to create a booklet with a staggered fold, so that there are tabs. It is basically a booklet where the pages are offset 1/4" - 1/2" before folding/stapling. How to set this up in DRAW, or is there a template somewhere I can use?
I have Elements 9 and created a card in bi-fold format and cannot figure out how to get it to print in that format. I have a Dell V715W printer. Photoshop help is not useful. I am trying to figure out if I need to print add a blank page to the front and print two pages to one sheet (front and back) or something else. There don't seem to be many options when printing or edit options to the file/project/card within Elements 9.
I'm looking for an easy way to get a simple page fold effect on a 2D Logo. I'm playing around here in Axis with the surface set to Bicubic but I'm moving around the corners and handles and can't really achieve a realistic look. Is there something like page fold in the Avid where you can adjust the fold radius and it simply works....?
I am a new c sharp developer. I want to create a program in C sharp, which can communicate with autocad, when I do click in some area of the drawing, I can call to the c sharp program with the information of the object selected, for example I want to know the four utm coordinates of a rectangle, with those coordinates I want to search in a sql server database, which contains information of the object selected, for example if I select a rectangle, the database must contain the name of the owner, location and display to the user the information.
Otherwise, I want to open the program in c sharp, doing a searching via name of the owner and I want to open the dwg file that contains the utm coordinates of the name provided.
I have a program in C# where i am trying to access a sub-object which is of type Connectors/fasteners.
In a drawing, I have an object with class (PnPClassname) P3dConnector, and when I click on it's red circle with <ctrl> pressed, I access an object with class (PnPClassname) BoltSet. I have added the event oDatabase.ObjectModified, but this only access the P3dConnector-object, not the BoltSet-object. See the image and attached file.
How can i access this sub-object? I have tried to loop through prompted result set using SelectAll. The P3dConnector-object is listed but not the BoltSet-object.
example [CommandMethod("Test")]public static void TestMethod(){ Document doc = Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument; Editor ed = doc.Editor; Database db = doc.Database; using (Transaction Tx = db.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()) {
[Code]...

Is there a way to put a hatch mark (dimilar to a DIMCENTER) at a "virtual sharp"? For example, two 90 degree lines have a 1/4" fillet/radius between them. I want to put a small cross there the lines would have theoretically intersected.
I'm having an issue creating a DXF from a IDW. After selecting the DXF option I get a message "Problems encountered while saving the document". Why the error occurs and how to remedy it?
is there a simpler way of creating these patterns or a way of doing less work to create these patterns?can this be accomplished with a formula/ function?
I'm recently using inventor a lot. But now IM try to make a .IDW template with my own line styles and thickness and stuff. This is what I do:
I open an exciting IDW file. I go to manage and click style editor. Then I create a new style. Called test style. I make sure I activate my new style and I go to layers, where I change the line weight from 0.51mm to 0.25 mm (example)
I save my change and close style editor... After that I save my copy as template (called test 6-1) and close the drawing. I open inventor and create a new file. Select the template I created. I get this style conflict.... I don't fully understand this error... How can I fix this problem?
When my new template opens, I check the line weight by the style editor but the weight detente change... Its still 0.51 mm.
