how to create a check box for parameters in forms in inventor 2013, i have modelling a door which contains to many types of locks and where they are placed so i need to create check boxes to pick multiple items so i need to know how to insert them.
As my Inventor endeavors continue, I would like to take a template of a part I made and use Excel to change the parts dimensions. Essentially make it so if we need a 20 Tonne Lift Lug, I just punch in the necessary values in Excel and have the part update.
I am trying to control the parameters contained in a part that is not in my assembly. May sound odd, but I am using the multi body part modeling feature to create all of my bodies in a single part file, then making these components/sub assemblies, and pulling them into my assembly. However, I do not want to have the "control part" in my assembly, I just want it to drive the parts. I cannot figure out how to access these parameters without having the part included in the assembly...
I have entered in all the available sizes and have the outer frame of the louver adjusting nicely. Now where I am running into trouble is setting up the louvers and the louver spacing. I have been playing around with the parameters for awhile now and I just can't wrap my head around some things.
Example one:
in the picture below,
HEIGHT is selected on 18 in
I have created an user parameter called LOUVER_QTY which is set to subtract 1.6 in off HEIGHT = 16.4, then I divide that by 2.05 and the result is supposed to equal 8 but it is showing 3.149606. But when I assign LOUVER = LOUVER_QTY it is showing 8
For the most part this file works fine, but when the Height is changed to 56 in, the last bottom louver runs through the bottom of the frame.
I know that I have to change the spacing from a direct input (2.05) to a equation based on height to fix the spacing, but I can't grasp how these parameters are working, why are they red(errors)
Also I don't know how to set up the parameters to set the correct number of occurrences in the rectangular pattern to control the amount of louvers. Something related to to the spacing of the pattern and the selected height.
I would like to be able to control the fire rating a door must have through a yes / no parameters. I have created a shared parameter for all the different codes and then I have loaded them into the family, now I just want it to work so that when a rating is checked the name will be in "Fire Rating".
EI0 selected when the door is not fire rated.
As can be seen in the picture, I found out how it can be doneif there are 3 checkboxes.
how to delete iLogic forms from Inventor 2013 parts/assembly using VB.net 2010?
I am able to delete all the rule using "Activated_iLogic.DeleteAllRules(PartDoc)" but "Activated_iLogic.DeleteAllForms(PartDoc)" or "Activated_iLogic.DeleteForm(PartDoc, FormName)" does not give me the result I was expecting and Google is not showing any result related to this.
I am just playing with iLogic forms and I have set a slider to move a part in 15 degree steps from 90 to 180 degrees, all is fine but the slider is on the left for 90 degrees and on the right for 180 degrees, I would like it to be able to be set so that 180 is on the left of the slider and 90 is on the right of the slider. is this possible?
I'm trying to build a simple ilogic form to fill out iproperty infomation for parts we generate. Our company only uses a few of fields that are available. The problem is that the Physical tab is not available in the form editor. I would like to add this field to my form to be able to select the material for the part. The style/standard editor in our part template file holds all materials we use. Summary, Project, Status, and Custom are all available, why isn't Physical?
I have a small problem with iLogic forms picture folder. Is there a way of seting the image by the selected tab ?
I want to update the image by the tab selection.
I have tried "if" or "select case" and neither one worked. as I am saying Stair_Properties = True it only makes the tab active. It doesnt indicate if it is selected, here is the code :
I would like to know if it is possible to make a form with multiple forms, depending on the selection a could build a rectangle, or a cilynder or a cone.
I had some success transferring geometries, generated with an advanced math software, to Inventor using IGES files containing Manifold Solid B-Rep Object Entities (Type 186) (see the specification IGES5-3_forDownload-1.pdf). Now I would like to include several Type 186 entities into a single IGES file and form the geometrical unit of these (and them), for which the IGES Boolean Tree Entity (Type 180) seems to exist. I'll do some trial-and-error testing, but it would be very useful to have a (reliable) list of all IGES entities the Inventor IGES import function does or does not support (like these: Transcendata, MoldflowInsight). Unfortunately I could not find such a list anywhere.
Another question: Are the IGES import/export functions of Inventor written by Autodesk (and/)or are third-party libraries used? If the latter, which ones?
Aleays that I change the selection "MODO" ("D e i" instead of "Z1 e Z2" and vice-versa), I need run one more time for the rule sense the changing.. when the right is run one time.
iLogicForm.Show("FLAMA-GEARS", FormMode.Modal) If MODO = "D e i" Then iLogicForm.Show("D e i", FormMode.Modal) End If If MODO = "Z1 e Z2" Then iLogicForm.Show("Z1 e Z2", FormMode.Modal) End If
I would like to instantly launch an External Rule just by clicking on a button in the Global Forms area of the iLogic browser. Is this possible, and if so, how would I do it?

Im wondering if its possible to link either a constraint dimension to an action parameter or vice versa. Or using a linear parameter's value in an user parameter formula.
Its a 2D cylinder, for winding purposes we just have a rectangle, with a distance from the Y axis for radial.
Parametric dimensions: B=thickness, C=Lenght, R=radius User parameter: A=Diameter (R*2), Mass in kg ((((pi*(c*b))*(A+B))*1.25)/1000)/1000
For the BOM, i need A, B, C & mass
For drawing references for peoples on the floor, to distinquish a cylinder from a stick, we put lines at the top and bottom of the cylinder, 1mm distance inbetween them.
I figured that making a linear parameter + stretch on the thickness to replace the B parametric dimension, allowed me to make an array of that line, with increments of 1mm as i stretch the cylinder. The thing is that the mass formula cant take the value of action parameters....
Other alternative is to keep the B parametric dimension, and add a linear parameter as above for the array. But then i have 2 places to adjust, and from a test i made, if i change the R dimension, the linear one does not follow. Its very frustrating.
What i was hoping autocad would be able to do is distance1 for array to be same as B dimension, but it does not allow me to do that, unless im missing something.
Using AutoCAD 2013 and TOL command to generate feature control frames. We set our lineweights based on layer assignments.
Problem is that when printing, AutoCAD seems to randomly assign a lineweight to the feature control frames. It can vary from what it's supposed to be (such as lineweight set for the dimension layer) or thicker than even what the object lines are set at. Seems to pick a random linewieght at time of printing for these elements (just the boxes, not the symbols/text itself).
Is there a setting we should be defining somewhere to force it to follow the lineweight of the layer that it has been assigned to? Known bug?
I was wondering if it would be possible to do the following:
Parameters who can vary for lets say a rectangular profile with:
80x50x2
80x50x3
100x50x2
That these data sets/parameters are grouped/linked to eachother in the Parametric Table.
So when I'm doing my analyses with the profile of 100 and I change the wall thicknes from 2 to 3mm the 100 changes to the 80 variant automaticly, or asks me which version I want.
It would be handy to avoid mistakes with non excisting combinations of profiles.
Is there a custom app for Inventor that allows you to manage parameters easier? (Grouping wise to keep a better overvieuw.)
I'm having some difficulties with iLogic and reference parameters.
I have made a tube with a weird shape and I want to measure the longest length. So I have to cut the tube in a certain angle in relation with the center to measure the length.
The problem is that this angle is really hard to calculate.
So I tried making a rule where I can make my angle shift x degree and then measure the longest length. If the measurement is larger the previous measurement the angle will shift x degree again until the measurement is smaller than the previous.
So I made my starting angle 0 degree, I know this is for a fact not the longest length. And then I tried this rule. (before making a While rule).
And I noticed that on screen the measurement changes. But the reference - parameter stays the same. So it gives me the measurement on the starting angle & after rotating it again gives me the starting angle.
How can I get the parameter to update itself in between?
Dim measurement_length As DoubleDim measurement_length2 As DoubleMessageBox.Show("Start angle ", "My iLogic Dialog", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Asterisk, MessageBoxDefaultButton.Button1)angle_measurement_spec = 0RuleParametersOutput()InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()measurement_length = [code].....
I have lots of files that are linked either by length, height, etc.. Is there an option to delete all linked parameters. I would also like to keep the part history (cuts and extrudes).
I wonder if there is an option to delete all at once like iLogic option-"delete all rules" or should be deleted individually.
I am using Inventor 2009 SP2, OS is XP Professional 2002 SP3.
I copy a file which has lot of parameters, I want to delete some of them, but Inventor Parameters pop up window just has buttom to add a user Parameter, without button to erase one.

I am creating a weldment that is controlled using parameters that are linked to an Excel spreadsheet (using Inventor 2012). One of my parameters is the size of the weld bead. I am able to add the parameter to change the visible size of th fillet and groove welds but am unable to have the weld symbols update to show the parameter value. How to add the parameter to the weld symbols? Or is this not possible?
