View 5 RepliesI've been having a problem with a pipe structure not showing up in a profile view. I have a single pipe network with everything (pipes and other structures) showing up in the profile when I select them, right-click, and click on "Draw Parts in Profile". Like I said, this works for all the other pipes and structures in the profile except one. When I select the structure individually and try to draw it into the profile, it still won't work. A friend told me to make sure that the structure is within the surface, and it is.
I'm using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011.
I am currently trying to produce a canalisation system for a sanitary sewer. Trying to add my structure, I find myself unable to specify a specific inside diameter for the structure (the smaller listed being 1 200 mm, whilst mine is 900 mm).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working with a structure profile label style and it seems like the only way to anchor the position of the label is based on offsets from the structure itself... Any way to position the label based on the top of the profile view, so that I could make all of my labels horizontally aligned above the profile view?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 7 manholes in my network, only 3 of them are visibile in the model tab though.
There is structure label on all of the manholes
I can use select similar to mark them and i get "Structure (7)".
I can even see them in the object viewer.

As it stands, if you view a pipe network in a profile view with no vertical exaggeration, you expect to see what is essentially an accurate long section in all directions. However, rather than being applied perpendicularly from the center line (or arguably the invert), diameter is applied strictly vertically.
Now, this made sense in the days of hand drafting when it was far easier in a vertically exaggerated profile view to simply measure the dimension vertically rather than determining how the exaggeration affects the perpendicular distance. But with the computer doing the measurements, is this really a problem anymore? I've debated that to some degree it's strange to consider that the crown of the pipe may be at a (slightly) different station than the invert, but this is simply fact in the field. And I've also thought that it's nice to be able simply measure vertically in an exaggerated profile, but I can't remember the last time I dug my scale out of the drawer.
All the theory aside, the real problem appears when you try to profile a vertical, or even a near-vertical, pipe. The fact that the diameter is applied vertically means that the vertical centerline is shifted the length of the pipe radius downward and upward. In other words, rather than seeing the invert and crown of the pipe, you just see one line, though it's really two lines on top of each other.
I wrote this off for the last 4 years of basic Pipe Networks because I acknowledge that storm/sanitary outside the building is rarely designed vertically, but with 2013's release of the Pressure Pipe Network, I really expected Autodesk to change the way the profile views represented pipes.
I have a label style creating a callout bubble for structures in a pipe network, but it keeps placing the label (and therefore, the leader when dragged) at the edge of the structure, and I want it to go to the center.

I have created the horizontal profile and also the vertical profile including all the vertical curve information. Is there an easy way to incorporate the elevation information back into the plan view so I can create points that carry x,y & z points that I can transfer out of autocad as a .txt file so we can upload it on our gps equipment?

View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery structure for my Sanitary pipe network is showing up properly in the profile view except the last 2. They're showing as rectangles when they should have the cone on top. I've checked the properties of the correct ones and the incorrect ones and they're the same style. I looked at the parts and I couldn't see anything wrong with them. In the screenshot you can see that the 3 manholes on the left are the correct kind with the cone whereas the 2 on the right are just rectangles.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi have some simple profiles and just want to show the pvi's in plan view on the alignment.
i made a reference label and it works great. now i am trying to figure out if there is a quick way to locate the pvi station on plan view other than doing something like create a point using sta. and offset as parameters hand typing in the info.
I'm working with plan production sheets and having some trouble. My vertical exaggeration makes me want to split the profile, but when I do it, they get glued together. My left vertical grid numeration stays on the middle of the grid and I get a lot of information overlapped. What I need is to put some gap between these, or split'em. Other issue is that the axis offset of my Profile Style isn't being applied, as well as other configs.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible for a civil 3d structure to be displayed correctly in profile view when the alignment does not pass through the insertion point of the structure. See the attached screen capture.
The rectangular structure is a storage tank and there will be a pipe coming in on one end and the exit pipe will be on the adjacent side at the far end, just as the alignment shows - but the structure doesn't show correctly, or now how I expected.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen creating plan and profile sheets with multiple alignments in the view, what is a common practice in civil 3d?
- Data shortcut all alignments that are in the view into the plan and profile model
- Create a dwg that has all the alignments data shortcutted and xref that into the plan and profile dwg
- Create a dwg for each alignment and xref into an overall alignment dwg via attach and then xref the overall into the pp sheets dwg model.

I cannot find a way to only have pipes in profile view to only show the invert (bottom) of the pipe. All my pipes are running around the same elevation and the profile is pretty busy with both invert and crown of pipe shown.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRun profile on a self-intersecting street? The one I'm dealing with is a dead end 'P' shape. Logically, there are manholes in the intersection of the 'P', and logically to me, these structures need to show up in two places in the same profile view. Of course, C3D doesn't realize that I want a certain structure to show up twice, and I'm not sure how to communicate that information to it.
View 1 Replies View Relatedrecommend a good way to indicate the location of cross section sample lines in a profile view (of same alignment) as vertical lines? the sample lines have been created at user defined locations from polylines, and do not follow a particular station order. my first thought was to use transparent command to draw line in profile view using station from plan view, but i have in excess of 100 cross sections, and that may be time consuming.

I'm working in Civil 2012 and I'm putting in existing SD. I put in 2 DI's and a MH all on the same network (there is only one in my drawing) and I go to put in pipes and I click to connect to the first DI and then I'm kicked out of the command. What do I do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently looking into switching from Vectorworks to Revit due to a job application I'm being offered. What I really want to know is if the following floor plan is possible to make in Revit. I just want floor plans to be with color to better show the different things on it and make them more clear.
I also want to know if it is possible to show symbols in a plan view other than just a rendered hidden line view of the 3D part of it, so I can have a simplified version for the plan view and a detailed object for the 3D. Like you have a 2D-plan component for the plan views and e 3D component for all other views.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a pipe network and a profile for it. Some of the structures have 2 inlet pipes. The pipe system more of less goes down a road, so every now and then there is a cross pipe into a structure. I have masking turned on under the structure style->profile setting. I want to see the cross pipe, so I found on here that all I need to do is under structure style->view direction (profile)->make Structure Pipe Outlines visible. I did that and still no cross pipe shows up. If I turn the masking off it is there.
